Just...you have three hours a week on Raw, give me five minutes of Wade Barrett coming out and insulting someone and going "MA-HA-HA-HA-HA!" like a cartoon villain and smashing them in a face with his forearm. Work with me here you garbage island of a company.

Wade Barrett is the most consistently misused guy in the entire company, right? He might even be a contender for most consistently misused guy in the company's history, possibly just due to his ability to recover from the kind of booking that would kill anyone else's career, only to be saddled with something even worse following.

I don't know, mid-card dude Wade Barrett seems like a pretty good use of the guy. He's also been kinda-sorta injury prone when on the verge of getting a decent push, so I can see why the company may be hesitant to pull the trigger on him.

His first line tonight kinda has to be "who looks stupid now?"

Sheamus makes sense if you're determined not to put the belt on a new guy. Orton's out. Cena's out. Because the main event is so very thin, a midcarder had to be elevated, and sadly a former two-time champ is a midcarder these days, no better really than fellow former champ Miz.

Unless they do a title switch tonight -- to no fanfare, making Reigns also a two-time champ within 24 hours -- Reigns's best shot is Rumble or Mania. Which means he treads water again for a few months. Which kills everyone's enthusiasm.

Yes. I can imagine an alternate history in 2011 where Punk jobbed to Mason Ryan and then let his contract expire without cutting his famous promo, leading to no special MITB show, no Daniel Bryan briefcase win, no Yes movement, and the company built around Cena vs. Orton vs. Sheamus vs. Del Rio while calling up "Leakee" without the Shield.

Unfortunately, Punk and Bryan had to leave us before they could transfer their mystical push-hijacking powers to Ambrose, Owens, and Zayn.

Remember that story Vince told about pushing people in the pool on the Stone Cold Podcast? That's Wade Barrett, as soon as he thinks it's safe to walk around the edges Vince gives him a push and aaahhhhh splash, in he goes again. Wade Barrett is going to pay for having fun with New Day.

Reigns-Triple H could work and could be awesome with all kinds of big stakes. Triple H might be the one guy everyone wants to see get killed as they all rally around Roman Reigns to vanquish the evil king. Of course Helmsley would get nervous when everyone buys in and go back to being cool guy splitting the crowd and we all know stipulations never stick. Thus it would just be another match they tell us is super important.

I think we'd be more likely to see Reigns get his rematch tonight with Dean Ambrose turning heel NOW, when it doesn't really matter, to protect Corporate Champ Sheamus.

It's unfortunate that Undertaker didn't die after the second Shawn Michaels 'mania match. He's been a completely worthless pile of shit ever since then.

Granted, I've hated him ever since he replaced Sid in The Skyscrapers, which was my favorite tag team at the time, so I might be a bit biased.

They told a pretty good story, and while being longer than any other singles match on the card (and almost longer than the elimination matches), managed to hold my interest more than any other singles match on the card. Plus, perhaps taking backstage lessons from Sasha Banks, Paige has turned herself into kind of an awesome heel.

But mostly, botched spear aside, that match had some great innovative offensive. I can't remember the last time a men's match had any real innovation to it, and the women seem to come up with something new every PPV.

For my money, they've totally botched Charlotte when they brought her to the main roster. In NXT she didn't just say "hey I'm genetically superior Woo!", she went out and friggen destroyed people. She was shown to be a prodigy and out wrestle everyone. To the point that beating her (even if not for the title) was seen as a rite of passage.

On RAW she came in with a group, never developed or showed a personality beyond "hey I'm Ric Flairs daughter Woo!" and then proceeded to spend most PPV matches getting consistently beat down on and screaming in pain until pulling out a clutch finish at the end.

Because of this, there's no engagement in her matches. She's just there. For the audience she's just another Ryback now. Had the controversial promo on RAW been followed by a backstage beatdown on Smackdown and a slobbernocker of a brawl last night that would have seriously helped.

But instead we essentially got a female Ryback vs Randy Orton match with little to no effective build, or special attraction during the match. It was just a nice match.

There's a precedent for this; Click Here (youtu.be)

Silverlining; they didn't do the dumbest thing ever and turn Ambrose! Bad news! They still might do it tonight.

So many talented guys that I think it's legit impressive how badly they squander them. Cesaro, Owens, Ambrose, Barrett, Rhodes, Ryback (yes Ryback and I don't care if I get downvoted I am all-in on Ryback just being his damn self on commentary and on the mic like he was when he was with Rybaxel "shout out to the big guy HEY YO"), and even Reigns.

I mean, look at the above video (RIP Greatlyn, RIP Punk). Barrett is everything they could want in a guy to market as a heel or face, yet even before injuries they did nothing. Speaking of injuries, nonsense. Look at how they treat Orton with both injures *and* wellness infractions. Multiple title reigns, pushes.

So all I can think of is where do they go from here? Owens and Del Rio couldn't get to the finals. Reigns gets a rematch, but I am sure he'll lose or win by DQ. They won't give Ambrose a shot because it makes too much sense. And even if they did any of those things, its friggin Sheamus! Who cares? In the interest of not having to watch Sheamus matches, maybe they will do me a favor and have him walking around telling everyone they don't deserve a title shot. How much do you want to bet his first three title defenses are against Big Show, Mark Henry and Kane?

Well, at least I can enjoy my Cesaro matches in peace. Wait, what injury? Really? damn...

Good News Barrett with New Day would be great, actually. I often quote the JBL & Cole Show as where people have been amazing - Barrett, Slater, Cody, even Cesaro towards the end when the rest of the webshow started sucking - and don't understand how somebody doesn't see that and try to translate it into TV. Granted, Bad News started on JBL & Cole Show and moved to TV, where it then got over and was dumped.

As usually, just feeling apathy for the most part. Eh, Reigns won and lost. Eh, Sheamus won. Maybe the problem is there is nobody elevated enough to seem title-worthy right now, especially on the heel side. Sheamus has traded 900 wins and losses with Randy Orton. Owens could have been. New Day could be if they kept that "we beat up Dolph to take his spot" mean side for more than two weeks. Sheamus just comes off as a placeholder for the story where Roman finally overcomes the odds and wins the title from him, then goes on to a real feud at WrestleMania.

The 'Taker/Kane entrance was cool, but they have absolutely killed the Wyatts (not that they hadn't already). They never win any feud ever.

I saw this every recap, but can we move Sasha Banks into this title picture already? I'm bored with Charlotte and correct, they have botched her main roster debut. Ric Flair's daughter! We get it! A Bella shouldn't be able to hang with Ric Flair's genetically superior daughter.

What weird, bad directing at the end. We get the copyright notice and the "made in Georgia" tag, then cut back to Roman being booed by the fans for a good three minutes while trying to emote "disappointment." Maybe it would help to not show this extra three minutes of the guy you want as our hero getting booed with no commentary?

Even Barrett's "injury-prone" label isn't really fair since his injuries weren't his fault. I seem to recall him hurting his arm during a battle royal when he was lying on the floor after being eliminated, and Big Show (?) threw someone else out of the ring and onto a prone Barrett. He got another injury later when sloppy Jack Swagger gave him an unprotected toss into the ring barricade. Two freak accidents that were really someone else's fault.

George Michael weighed his options. Maeby had chastised him for not taking risks, and what would be a bigger risk than perpetuating a lie about software just to ignite the passions of a woman? Of course it would be a lie, and since Maeby wouldn't know it was a lie, he wouldn't appear to be taking a risk. Perhaps the bigger risk was to tell his father he was lying, that he came up with it because he wanted his father to leave so he could enjoy what remained of his senior year. After all, he wondered, wouldn't that be the course of action taken by an overtly sexual man, a man who owns a pair of matador pants? He had not responded now for 41 seconds according to his unfailing internal clock, and it was time to come clean.

The most demoralizing thing about the title scene is that this was the plan since Money In The Bank. Reigns got shat upon so the decision was made to turn him into some version of Daniel Bryan. I have no idea why anyone thinks it's a good idea that will work, but here we are. Telling The Universe who to support instead of letting The Universe decide for itself is a shit business model for a company whose supposed goal is to make a profit.

I can't imagine any amount of evidence you could produce in favor of that argument would even come close to balancing out against Vince's rebuttal of Hulkamania.

This is a good point. Everything can work the same with Rollins instead of Ambrose (and the tournament), and Sheamus winning the title and becoming the champion sets up the supposed Rollins/Triple H for WrestleMania well enough.

Are you trying to say Vince told people to like Hogan? You realize he was already the most popular wrestler in the US before he got back to New York in '83, right? That was leaving it up to the universe (or "fans" as they were called in the days when things weren't fucking horrible).

Anyway, once I found out this wasn't going to be a one-night tourney and was only going to be the semis and finals I kinda figured I'd hate it. I am such a tourney mark but they managed to ruin that too. Matches were decent but they went in the most unimaginative direction possible. Reigns is being called the Lex Luger of this generation but go back and find when Luger beat Hogan for the title on that Nitro sometime in '97. Reigns is nowhere close to that over. With Rollins and now Cesaro gone...man. Just a dreadful, embarrassing product.

Most reports state that Vince had a plan. If Hogan hadn't jumped to the WWF, he was going to execute that plan with someone else. So regardless of what happened, Vince believes he came up with a genius plan and the fans went along with it. Whether that's what happened or not is irrelevant.

Bray Wyatt is now the Kevin Sullivan of the 2010s. Once the original family members leave, he'll stick around and then "reform" his family every so often with progressively worse and worse members. He'll always be seen as a threat while never winning anything simply because he's supposed to be "evil." I do look forward to Bray's version of the Varsity Club though. Swagger, Gable and Jordan?
