That turned out to be a pretty fun little show.

PROS...
* Undertaker's last Mania match (probably) won't be wasted on another Lesnar rematch!
* Owens won a belt!
* Charlotte won a belt!
* The New Day still have their belts!
* Cena won a belt, which wouldn't be a pro unto itself, but now the US Open Challenge can return, which is a major pro
* Sheamus didn't win a belt!
* Chris Jericho was an appropriately cool mystery partner, and the thought of him recruiting someone else (Owens?) to feud with Ambrose and Reigns for a PPV cycle is really fun.

CONS...
* Kane being involved in a g-d main event championship feud in the year 2015.
* Sting's health scare. That sure didn't looked planned. Hoping he just had the wind knocked out of him or was just a bit dizzy rather than something serious.

George Michael weighed his options. Maeby had chastised him for not taking risks, and what would be a bigger risk than perpetuating a lie about software just to ignite the passions of a woman? Of course it would be a lie, and since Maeby wouldn't know it was a lie, he wouldn't appear to be taking a risk. Perhaps the bigger risk was to tell his father he was lying, that he came up with it because he wanted his father to leave so he could enjoy what remained of his senior year. After all, he wondered, wouldn't that be the course of action taken by an overtly sexual man, a man who owns a pair of matador pants? He had not responded now for 41 seconds according to his unfailing internal clock, and it was time to come clean.

This continues to be New Day's world and we're all just living in it. I want this feud with the Dudleyz to never end, because everyone is playing their roles perfectly and I love every second of it. That was a fine match, to boot, aside from the lame DQ ending.

Well, that's another feud where Reigns and Ambrose are on the losing end. For two guys that are apparently supposed to be the next big main eventers, they sure don't do a lot of winning. But if you need someone to put over your acts hard, just call Chris Jericho. As for the Wyatts, they're going to be just fine feuding with Randy Orton and The Usos. Hey, logical progression in midcard feuds! I didn't think The E still had it in them!

Sting was really game tonight, but whose idea was it to have him take those insane bumps at his advanced age? Having him take those spots is just so dangerous and tonight could have ended very badly. That should hopefully be the end of Sting, for good, because the risks just aren't worth it anymore.

Man, good on Kevin Owens for getting a good match out of Ryback. That was some top-notch stuff and this title win should hopefully quell this "Owens has backstage heat" nonsense.

Before the show, I actually had a wild idea that we might see Cena beat Rollins badly, THEN Sheamus cashes in and beats Rollins BEFORE the main event. Since Sting has a scheduled title shot already, we then get an impromptu Sting vs. Sheamus bout where Sting can win the title and Sheamus is the one stuck with the mini-reign on his record.

After seeing Sting's health, however, I shudder to think what a match with a stiffer guy like Sheamus might've done to him.

Seth is the perfect IWC champ. He is crisp in the ring, cuts good promos and no one outside of the internet cares about him. If WWE's plan was to humble Sting who is already a straight humble dude than good job with that. I don't see the Cena open helping anyone, but Cena. Owens, Charlotte, New Day and the Wyatts are the reasons to watch which is more than they had a month ago.

This was really an improvement on Summerslam in almost every way. Some matches were better than others, but I don't think there was a solid clunker anywhere on the card, which is not what I expected. Sting's match was about a million times better than his Wrestlemania fiasco. And while I thought Cena/Rollins was pretty great, and I liked it more than their Summerslam match, I have to call Nikki/Charlotte the match of the night. Not just because of the super emotional finish (that was seriously the most real I've ever seen Ric Flair behave), but just for the psychology of the match itself. Nikki working the knee throughout the match was great, as was Charlotte's selling of said knee. And even though Nikki appears to have learned how to sell from her boyfriend, she was actually really believable on offense, and delivered what I would hands-down call the match of her career.

I don't think Undertaker's going for another Wrestlemania match (but watch me be wrong about that). I think that Hell in the Cell against Lesnar might just be the most fitting possible stage for him to have his last match on. So much of all of this seems to be Undertaker trying to erase how shitty his last streak match was, so that when he retires we remember him on a high note. If he can deliver in the Cell, that'll be the one to go out on.

You know what? I like Ryback a lot. He's improved in the ring to the point where I'd say he's in the "won't carry anyone to a good match, but when paired with someone average or better good things happen" camp. Someone else who was in that group for a long time? Kane. And like Kane, Ryback is actually great on the mic when they just let him be him. If Kane is Ryback's ceiling, that's a dang good ceiling! If he gets better than that, then that's gravy.

So no, I'm not surprised him and Owens had a good match. And I don't think Owens "carried " him, it's more of a case of Ryback holding his own.

The Rumors (TM) seems to indicate the injury to Sting is:

1) Severe.
2) Career ending.

If that's the case, we can probably chalk this up as "50 plus year old man's body betrays him". And like Big Bad said, lets be thankful Sheamus didn't get the match.

The New Day is The New Day.

Jericho versus Ambrose? I'm fine with that, especially if it's Heel Jericho.

I had this on in the background, but really paid attention to the main event. Seth Rollins is an amazing wrestler. John Cena is a douche bag hitting that AA on the floor in a matter that really didn't concern him. The most amazing thing though is that the Sting match was actually good. The bump through the announce tables with monitors was impressive, the power bomb into the turnbuckles was shocking, but the second power bomb into the turnbuckles was when I started getting a little worried about how much more he was going to take. Apparently that was his limit, hopefully the injury isn't as bad as they are hinting at. I'm not a Sting fan by any means, but this was an impressive match and might be his best Crow Sting match ever.

Kane was meh, but he and Seth should get a watchable match out of the deal and hopefully that will end that.

My two takeaways from the night

1. Rollins has become HBK in the ring and Triple H on the mic.

2. And father time is going to get us all in the end

That said, I enjoyed the show a lot. Probably due to low expectations, but still I had fun.

I'm not keen on the overuse of '90s/'00s guys, but I think last night just happened to be a perfect storm of several appearances overlapping. The Dudleys are fine as foils for The New Day, but they still feel dated. I'm done with Jericho. He doesn't do anything for me anymore and his selection as mystery partner made zero sense.

I wasn't real high on Sting being in a main event in 2015, but he went out there and killed himself for our amusement, giving us a match that was a million time better than it had any right to be. And, as for Kane, you can argue that Kane vs. Rollins is one of the best laid out storylines of 2015, so of course it needs a blowoff.

I hope Cena winning means the return of the Open Challenge.

Oh, and Kevin Owens with the IC Title makes me giddy.

Everything is awesome.

That Diva's match though, it was like they went out of their way to showcase the things Charlotte isn't good at. She's much better when she's able to kinda go hoss-mode in the ring and use her height and athleticism. Instead they hobbled her and made us listen to her going "Ow Ow Ow".

It reminded me of Melina matches once they realized how flexible she was, every match she'd get put into a crazy submission hold and everyone would be like "Yikes!". Charlotte can take those holds better than most and it really looked like Nikki was getting some torque but mysteriously it didn't really get mentioned by commentary any more than a normal submission in a match...

I feel we just need a promo from Rusev saying he has decided to take a vow of chastity for a year to focus on his career and not mix his personal and professional life anymore and then go challenge Kevin Owens.

I look forward to the inevitable 40min Rollins/Authority/Kane promo to kick things off tonight!

Not a bad show. I enjoyed this more than I enjoyed SummerSlam. Owens/Ryback was pretty good with what will hopefully be a significant change for the IC Title. The tag title match was fun, and Xavier Woods should just be given the world title already. Nikki/Charlotte wasn't that great of a match, but it had the right ending.

The main events pretty much went the way they were expected to, but man, it was hard watching Sting out there. At first, I thought it was a work, but it became clear pretty quick that he was really hurt. I don't know what the actual finish was supposed to be, but the one they did was fine and Sting still gets props from me for finishing things up. I think he should only do one or two more matches, and if he does two, one of them should be a tag match.

He really shouldn't have been out there doing bumps like that. He didn't need to. Rollins should have taken the table bump and come back from it, not the other way around.

I was fine with Sting losing until they did the same dumbass finish they did last year, only with Sheamus not-cashing-in. I hated it when they did it with Rollins last year, and hated it this year. I don't care about Kane or Sheamus and if this is their idea to keep the ratings afloat, I'm not a fan. That whole ending sucked.

I think it's pretty much a given that when Sheamus cashes in, he's going to get a title run of some sort, so I wish they just put us out of our misery there. The MITB match is usually fun, but I really, really hate that briefcase. I want that idea to die. Burn its corpse. It's done. It's more of a burden than an exciting part of the show. I hate that looming briefcase over everything and the sooner we get it out of the way every year the better. It's a really dumb, played out idea now.

Anyway, I'm done with the Network for now. Canceled my subscription today. Not out of protest, just because I think there's going to be nothing interesting until the Rumble. I may attend Hell in a Cell, but don't see what they could possibly do to maintain my interest until Rumble/WrestleMania time. Even then, if Rock/HHH is all we have to look forward to, I'm not sure I'll be back for a while.

I actually watched this show for some reason. It was a last minute decision, mostly due to boredom and having gotten off early. I believe this is the second time I've watched WWE programming since the Raw after Wrestlemania. I don't regret watching it, but I wouldn't have regretted doing something else, either.

I did pop huge for the finish of the IC title match, as it so perfectly played into the character of Kevin Owens.

The pacing of the Diva's title match reminded me of a Brock Lesnar match, except Nikki has a much wider array of offense than Brock.

I saw Sting wrestle a great Falls Count Anywhere match against Nikita Koloff when I was 14. Now that I'm on the verge of 40, I have absolutely no desire to see him inside a ring. (Incidentally, Koloff (who retired at age 33) looks much healthier than just about any of his peers.)

Obviously the next Dudleys vs New Day match is going to be a Tables match. The question is, can they coax Spike Dudley out of retirement to counter Woods? And if they can, would anyone even recognize him? He looks slight different than during his wrestling days.

All an all, a middle of the road show. I had trouble paying attention during both of Rollins' matches, getting distracted by the Internet, and I thought the Ziggler vs Rusev match lasted far too long, but at least Chris Jericho lost, so there's that.

Edit: I should also note that my cat was sleeping on me during the bulk of the show, which is partly why I was able to stick with it. She was facing away from the TV but perked up every time Woods played the trombone. The only other time she reacted was when Stephanie McMahon was talking. Take that as you will.

Jericho and Wyatt have history and feuded last year for a while. I was hoping for Cesaro because he deserved to be on the card, but Jericho at least has a connection to the Wyatts. And it appears to be a setup for a short program where he turns heel, which is interesting, since usually guys in his position just stay face for the rest of their career.

The more I think about it, the more I have no idea what the E was thinking by letting Sting main event against a guy who's just wrestled a 1/2 hour main event match & probably has a very limited ability to carry him that much.

That table bump was the first time in a very long history of watching wrestling where I remember someone taking that bump with monitors still in. I thought it was a mistake (I'm still not convinced it wasn't), & Rollins 100% should have been the guy to take that if it wasn't.

Why don't they let Xavier Woods actually wrestle. Yes, he's gold as a manager, but that 3-D sell was legitimately a thing of beauty. Give him the IC belt & let him play Honky Tonk Man for a while.

And I'm sorry, but ElNastio calling the Master of the Feed Me More "great on the mic" makes me worry for the future of Humanity.

Have you seen his stuff on Fallout? Did you see the segment where he and Curtis Axel part on good terms? How about the time he was on commentary ("shout out to the Bad Guy, hey yo!"). In those kind of situations, Ryback shows great charisma and delivery on the mic. The potential is there, and we see it surface more than you think.

I normally don't mind the briefcase, especially if they don't drag it out for too long like last year (although the final cash-in was awesome) but I'm sad Sheamus has it because I'm completely bored with him. I wonder if maybe this is also why you're so down on the briefcase, or do you still hate it regardless of who has it?

I think the concept is played out and very, very predictable at this point. I'll admit that the payoff to Rollins' run was great at WrestleMania, but the preceding months were pretty lame leading up to it.

It's also very rarely held by babyfaces (and stay babyfaces when cashing in) due to its nature, which has always limited its possibilities. And, even as a heel tool, it never feels like any sort of miscarriage of justice any time it's cashed in because it's just a natural part of the show now. I don't understand the moral compass on how I'm supposed to feel any time it's used. (This isn't just a MITB problem, I know. There's other morally confusing things like HHH/Stephanie being "likeable" yet also heels and also cancer awareness spokespeople who just love hanging with the New Day.)

Then there's all the blue-balls false cash-ins like last night that are never any fun. The suspense just isn't there for me anymore.

Sheamus holding it doesn't help matters, obviously.

If Ambrose had the briefcase and was doing reciprocal mind games with Rollins or if Cesaro had the briefcase and you could be excited about him making a big breakthrough or if Owens had the briefcase and was in Sheamus' exact role, I think the briefcase would be pretty appealing right now. They do a bad job with it but it's still been vital as an aced test run for so many WWE MVPs who would've had a much harder time ever breaking through without being spotted the freebie first.

But since none of the guys I named were in the ladder match, and since the case was around until April, this would've been an ideal year to blow the cash-in the night after MITB and take a break from the briefcase for a full year.

I'm hoping the announcement of Undertaker/Lesnar In A Cell (for the first time ever!) means they've broken up the Mania matches into something like Rock/Lesnar and Cena/Undertaker, and Rock/HHH goes down as one of those "wouldja believe they were planning this at one point?" stories of Rumored Wrestlemania Card Rumors Past. Regardless, the getting there will almost assuredly be not good for at least the rest of '15.

I didn't like the finish to the Bella/Charlotte match.
Nikki dominated (with decent wrestling actually, and Charlotte sold it well) and all it took to take her down is a weak looking spear and the Figure-8 which required ignoring all of the selling of the knee.

Good for Owens for winning. Now let's hope they don't go the usual "guy has title, loses until he loses the title" routine.

And I wonder if Cena will go back to the US title challenges. I do hope so.

Seth Rollins really brings it in these matches. His character might still be a coward but in the ring he is so much better now than he was when he relied on J&J&Kane.

No bad matches, good show.
And the HitC announcement kind of came out of nowhere.
I hope it's going to be as good as their 2002 match

Over the last month, Ryback has maybe been the single worst person on the mic on TV, but yeah, there was that period that ran from late-era Bully Ryback right up until that amazing phone video of him dying as he went in for surgery that was amazing. Ryback driving up to fast food drive-thru windows playing his theme, and showing up at eating contests and just randomly recording himself yelling "FEED ME MORE!" at home...he had something unique and funny going with his whole "The Big Guy! HAHAHAHA!" character that never made it to TV and suggests, yet again, that they need to learn from The New Day and set some of the talent loose.
