THIS.

There is nothing "must-see" about this show. It's always the same.

I feel like they were starting to go somewhere with Dean Ambrose stealing hot dogs carts and cars, and now he's just a guy. He comes out. Wrestles. Leaves.

Boring.

I think my opinion has been noted for the last few years if not decade, its HHH/Steph. Yes, NXT is nice and HHH is a genius there, but it goes back to the TNA/ECW thing. Small fish with small pond. KO has been the only one who seems to gotten massively over. Still, if he becomes another monster in the Cena junkyard of wrestlers, then I don't have much hope. So, while people are hopefully that when Vince dies we get more NXT, I doubt it. We will get more 20 minute promos, more kiss ass wrestlers getting pushes and a product that has no juice to it.

I remember when Raw was the show. I mean like how Walking Dead and Game of Thrones are now. Where people were tuning in for Austin, but wanted to see DX, Rock, Sable and so on. Now, I guess people tune in for Cena and maybe the Shield guys. Maybe. Its almost safe to say that Rollins as champ is not a draw. Brock is a draw after they wrecked his character for the first year or so when he returned. Rock has even gotten soft ratings when he is bringing in millions at the box office. Everything they touch tends to turn to cold fish.

The Authority angle has sucked the life from the show. It should have been the start of something great. Daniel Bryan as a fighting World champion against Batista/Orton. The Shield break up without the Authority. Sting. I mean they fucked up Sting. The one thing that even Flair thought was a no brainer. Yet, they killed Sting all for the glory of HHH and Steph to face Rock and Rousey. Then after its done we find out it was worthless, because UFC in their right mind is not going to let it happen. They wasted Sting on a match that will probably not happen. That is fucking insane.

They have clue what the fans want. Honestly that is it. When the fans tell them what they want to have mad scramble to make it happen and then find a way to make it look like it was their idea all along. Its maddening. Add in the fact we have this Network that may or may not be a multi-million dollar disaster, I don't know how long they can go like this. Maybe forever, because its the last wrestling show on Earth or maybe just maybe it will all come crashing to an end out of nowhere.

Or, often the problem, they go with the opposite of what the fans want. People cheer Bryan? Give him a heel turn that will never work! Ryder? Super bury him! BNB is getting something over? Make him quit saying it! Cesaro is getting chairs and selling shirts with his "king of swing" nickname? Don't let him do the swing!

It all goes back to Ryder with me. The guy had three to four pages of merch on WWE Shop, and it was SELLING. The guy was selling stupid hats with spiked hair and garden gnomes, for crying out loud. The fans wanted to cheer him. More importantly, the fans wanted to throw money at the company for stuff with his name on it. So what do they do? Destroy him! Take him off TV! Reduce him to one t-shirt!

I don't understand the workings of the WWE financial team. The fans want to throw money at them... so they do everything they can do to NOT make that money. This is my frustration with the company.

NXT is still can't miss, and I have hopes for them... but at the same time, I worry for when they hit the roster. Sasha could skyrocket to the moon... but she could very well be reduced to the same importance of Cameron. I'm half afraid that Kevin Owens will get popular, and they'll turn him into "fat guy who trips over his shoelaces" or something to spite everyone.

This is one of the most puzzling things about this company and is something that would drive me mad if I were a stockholder. I'm not saying the fans are always right because Ryder SUUUUUCKs, but you can't find a way for him to get eight lousy minutes a night fighting for one of your secondary titles you've given zero shits about for years up until a few months ago? If fans want WWE branded turds sell them the WWE branded turds. Wrestling fans will buy almost anything, they will buy even more of it if they think they were a part of it from the beginning.

Just remember all the stories of Heyman viciously fighting with Steph and Vince over their booking ideas...fighting so bad that they had to fire him.

Nobody's mentioned Mattel yet? I've come to terms with the fact that WWE's product is primarily for kids, of all ages but especially 69. Don't think I am alone, either, and that's a big obstacle to WWE ever becoming legitimately cool again. I'm still a mark for their kayfabe history, so I'll probably be back on board by January. But not now.

Revenge of the Sith and Avengers are PG-13 movies. If WWE wanted to, they could point to those films as well as the Funko Pop who are selling Breaking Bad toys as a reason to return to a more adult storyline. I also think WWE could be in the driver seat when it comes to toys instead of being a quiet backseat driver who keeps missing his exit.

If we're just griping now, can I add how absolutely done I am with 20 minute overruns? Back when there was competition, yeah, you wanted to be the last guys on the air so that you'd catch the full overflow audience. But now, you're just padding out an already bloated show. We keep calling RAW 3 hours, but it's a lot closer to 3.5 a lot of weeks (Especially this last one. That beating could've been shored up a lot). You know when your show ends, and while I'm willing to forgive a couple minutes (live tv), you should be trying to end at 11. It's just another symptom of overall bloat and lack of focus.

Or, more sensibly, use it as a way to promote the Network. "Maggle, we're out of time, but tune into the WWE Network to see what happens next!" "JBL, we are running late, but I hope the fans watching tune into the WWE Network when this is over, because (so and so) is standing by to come out and talk to the fans!"

For me, it's a variety of reasons.

1) I LOATHE JBL. Something about him just hits all the wrong chords with me. I hated him as a Bush knockoff and still do as an idiotic Texan who won't shut up and constantly has a live mike.

2) The HHH and Stephanie show. They're using the same angle they've been milking for about 20 years or so, except the Authority never loses or gets its comeuppance, and HHH is right back with another 20-minute promo. They just keep strangling a once-great show to feed their overpowering egos, and I just got sick of it.

3) Despite being nowhere close in the ratings, every other wrestling show being broadcast currently is better than RAW. RoH is the mecca of insane workrates. TNA brings great Knockout action and some great X-Division matches, plus the awesome EC3 (new champion!). And Lucha Underground is the most perfectly produced wrestling program I've ever seen. Why bother with burned, dried-out hamburger when steak is available?

4) Daniel Bryan was the last guy I truly watched the show for. And sloppy-ass Shaemus shelved him for good. The Shield guys are cool, but when the writing sucks as bad as it does, it's more frustrating than anything.

It's a three hour show where at most three or four plotlines will get advanced, and the rest is recaps, retreads, and other filler material.

Honestly, I still watch and generally enjoy RAW. It's the board I became a bit disenchanted with or, at least, discussing week to week shows. The discussions are just so negative and I tend to prefer talking about the stuff I thought was awesome than complain about the stuff I didn't like. So, I just tend to avoid/not comment in threads as much as I used to, especially about current shows.

The short answer is that when I watch a whole Raw - especially without the DVR - I think "thank God that's done" when it's over. Which is not how I should react to something I'm doing for fun.

The long answer is way too many words, but...

When I enjoyed wrestling the most (1997-2000ish), they were doing all kinds of things that I thought I'd never see. Folks who weren't watching wrestling in the pre-internet days might not realize what it was like. Guys were jumping ship from WWF to WCW! The two companies were acknowledging each other and taking shots at each other! They acknowledged Vince McMahon on TV as the owner of WWF! VINCE WRESTLED A MATCH. Even stuff like Austin being a face who acted like a heel, Bret being a heel in the US and a face everywhere else, triple-threat matches, breaking tables, etc. - none of it sounds that exciting now, but they were all new ideas (at least to WWE) at one point. But now, what can they do that hasn't been done?

Plus, three hours is just too long. And I say that as a guy with no kids, no evening responsibilities, and a wife who watches her own garbage TV shows so she has some understanding of my idiocy.

And then you've got to fill three hours every week (and Smackdown and PPVs and whatever else) with a roster that's really not that big - almost every star has to be on almost every show. And when every match has to be star vs. star, I don't know if there's a way to get around endlessly recycling matches with 50/50 booking, ensuring that nobody really gets over and nobody matters.

At this point, I think Vince is an anchor dragging down the whole product. The announcers are terrible, but they're terrible because they follow his direction. The writers are terrible, but they're terrible because they write to please Vince. I hate the grade-school "comedy." I hate the forced wording, the phrases like "the Royal Rumble event" and "the WWE Universe" and "the WWE World Heavyweight Championship." I hate seeing talented guys get misused - even when the crowd takes to them - because they're not the chosen ones, or because the 70-year-old in charge can't see the appeal. I hate when the upper card of Wrestlemania is stacked with old guys, ensuring that the younger talent is always viewed as second-tier.

Ultimately, I don't trust them. There have been so many times where I've thought "the worst thing they could do in this situation is _____________" and then they find a way to do something even worse. I have no reason to give them the benefit of the doubt about anything. Whenever I get excited about something in wrestling, they find a way to wreck it.

But hey, NXT is fun. And I just found Ring of Honor in my cable package.

What he said.

And on the rare occasions it isn't, next week the reboot button gets hit, and back we go to mediocrity.

I won't watch Raw, if they don't respect the investment of time I make to watch it.

Not quite as strong as last week, but still a pretty decent show overall. I think Kennedy is definitely working right now as one of the top guys/heels on Smackdown along with MVP.
