I'm so glad poor Sting got to cut a promo in his own voice! It was short, but it was so old school - it felt straight from the early 90s, and I felt it was a noticeable departure from the rest of the show. If Sting wants to stick around after WM, he should totally be a novelty act who is somehow stuck in a time warp and just fails to recognize the passage of time past 1991.

Nikki Bella and AJ got, what, 15 minutes? (*Slight exaggeration*) #GiveDivasAChance indeed, but I know I (and many of my internet brethren, probably) were thinking, "Not THESE Divas!" I know Nikki tries, and AJ's not terrible, and they got the crowd on their side in the fading minutes of that match, but it was still pretty boring and forgettable.

The new patriotic twist on Rusev/Cena is garbage. I would've liked that shit a lot more if it were just about who the better fighter is, and Cena and Rusev could both easily make it work.

People seem to be taking WWE up on that proposition, since RAW is still below 4 million again this week. Don't worry, though. Roman Reigns is still getting pops on house shows.

Great ending. Loved Orton's reaction to Sting. I think it really helps to associate Sting with someone on the babyface side in WWE (aside from Ziggler) and Orton is the perfect one after last week, so we're not confused into thinking Sting isn't pro-WWE.

Too bad I unsubscribed from the WWE Network and missed Sting's promo.

When Reigns won the Rumble, I said Paul Heyman was going to have his work cut out for him carrying this feud, and man, after last night, I'm not even convinced Heyman can save this one. Even if it ends with Reigns aligning with Heyman (which is just a ripoff from when Big Show beat Lesnar).

Don't get me wrong. Heyman is still the best promo they have, but I'm just not feeling this story at all. Reigns only looked good tonight by not messing up, but to be the top guy, you have to be more than just competent. Cena was cutting decent promos as early as a year before he won the title.

Heyman still is doing what he does best, and that's sell Brock Lesnar. This whole match is being built around what Brock feels like doing on WrestleMania and Heyman is channeling that potential WrestleMania 20 fan anger into making Brock an identifiable protagonist somehow.

This whole thing is still a mess, though.

Many thanks, WBRS. I'll give RAW this; Orton was right, Sting teleporting in and helping clean house was pretty damn cool. Too bad they didn't put the promo before the end of RAW, I'd have stuck around for that even with TDS starting seven channels over. And Sting looks to be in pretty good shape, a bit more trim than he was in TNA, but then he hasn't exactly had a tough road schedule that would keep him from working out to get read for Mania.

I'm only really interested in two matches for Wrestlemania; the Ladder Match (because Bryan is in it, and because IC Ladder matches are almost always spectacular), and HHH/Sting. And the latter is only because I see a potential end to the endless Authority angle. Maybe Sting beats HHH at Mania, and HHH gets so pissed off he decides to put his position on the line to convince Sting to come back for one more match at Summerslam. But would HHH job to Sting two matches in a row? His ego is pretty legendary, even if he's been a bit more willing to job after he stopped wrestling full-time.

Wow, symbolism.

I think the overall problem with the product boils down to the fact that it's stopped being fun. Usually if the main event is something noone asks for like a Big Show v. Mark Henry match, there is at least a good three or four matches in the undercard to look forward to. Right now it feels like stories are so hardset and contrived that fans protesting live, on social media, or with their pockets can't steer the ship in our favor.

I will be watching Mania this year. I predict a glorious trainwreck reaction to the main event that will top the crickets Orton and HHH received at WM 25 and the Intercontinental match promises to be good (despite unnecessary match gimmick). I'm not buying the network or the PPV and supporting this Nazi mentality the company seems to be adopting. The RAW in San Jose will, much like Groundhog Day, predict the weather of this company for the next half of this year.

PS: Vince wants to save snowball into hell push he is giving Reigns and get people to really get into the show again? Come out during the main event and directly help Reigns screw Lesnar and raise his chosen champions arm in the end. Next night on RAW VKM goes full Mr. MacMahon tells his son in law and daughter to sic the rest of the Authority on Rollins and drag his carcass out to the ring and force the scrawny failed corporate golden boy to cash in his MITB briefcase. Reigns either fully turns then and their or eventually after being worn down by Vince playing Devil's Advocate and growing contempt from angry fans he goes heel while turning Rollins.

I know no fantasy booking, plus I'm sure the brain tumor that is destroying Vince's sense of logic will leak into wrestling related news in a few months anyway.

Read it and weep, fella

I missed Raw last week but I read a recap. You know how the recap of a show you missed always comes off better than the actual show probably did? Makes you feel like you missed something cool happen and you should've watched it live? We'll that was the first one that made me delete the show from my DVR without even checking it out.

This is also the first WrestleMania I can think of where I'm not the least bit excited about any of the matches. Not one. How sad is that? I was kicking myself for awhile because WM is finally back in CA (and probably wont back again until L.A. gets a football team & new stadium?) and I wont be there, but now I don't feel so bad anymore.

I'll still watch it but I ain't paying for it. I was tempted to give the WWEN a shot for WM since it's only $10 but I just can't bring myself to do it.

I'm just not interested in anything they're doing anymore.

This has to be my saddest post ever.

If I had not bought it for the Rumble, I'd probably with you, DJFF. I still have a bit of a belief that, no matter how bad/boring RAW can get, there's enough talented guys around that some really good matches have to occur. That's a bit of blind faith and it's tough to pay for faith.

Even if WrestleMania exceeds all expectations, I'm pretty sure I'm done the day after WrestleMania - maybe the day after that, since they're liable to do something on that RAW which might extend to the network. I think I can come up with a decent case why things might get better - the one year UT->Brock->Reigns plan is over, there will be freedom to try something new, and the midcard can go back to individual feuds instead of being crammed together to all fit on the card - but I'm not paying to find out if they can make it work.

I don't think I'm alone in that "canceling as soon as WM is over" feeling. WrestleMania is going to be what WrestleMania is going to be, but the most important financial show WWE runs any time between now and SummerSlam might be that RAW after WrestleMania. They desperately need a hook and that's the time to do it. If WWE has anything at all, it's got to be on that show.

As a mid-September Raw, this was perfectly fine. The WWE (I'm guessing it's a McMahon, and I hope that Stephanie has more sense than this) can't help themselves when it comes to tweaking certain talent. The original mic failure during a Heyman promo was an interesting coincidence. But what does turning it into a thing do for anyone involved in the feud, other than make Vince have a hearty guffaw? I would get it if Heyman was saying outlandish shit that cut too close to the quick, but he isn't. I guess it plays into the Brock might shoot!!! aspect that they're trying(?) to push, but there are more effective ways to get that point across. They're taking the legs out from underneath the only person who can sell this match, as he is literally the only one involved who can sell it. Brock isn't there and Roman is best when not speaking, so it's all on Paul. And this gimmick keeps going, week after week. It's distracting garbage.

Cena should man up and join the Marines already. Jesus.

I feel bad for the guy who flopped as Rusev's lawyer. He probably does a very good Russian accent backstage, but you could almost see the exact point when he lost it due to the pressure of performing in front of that large of a live audience.

I still say they are re-signing Lesnar and he's going to retain at WrestleMania. That's one part my bias, one part their shit build. Brock Lesnar is a conquering beast who doesn't just beat his opponents; he destroys them. Roman Reigns hasn't ever had a significant no-doubt victory over anyone of any consequence the likes of Lesnar over Cena via many suplexi. Pushing that this might become a shoot doesn't change that.

Watching the current product and watching the Monday Night Wars on the Network really underlines the fact that this whole thing is about Vince McMahon's entertainment and no one else's. People just happen to pay money and invest time to see what entertains Vince.

Let me see...something positive to say about RAW. Something positive. Hmmm....Wait, I've got one! I like that evidently Noble and Mercury are running a Penn and Teller gimmick where Noble never shuts up and Mercury never speaks. That's fun.

What else? Uhhh, well, Barrett finally managed to not look like a complete dipshit as the IC champion, so, uh, that's positive movement at least.

And, uh, and...nope. That's it. Those are the things I liked TWO WEEKS before the biggest show of the year. Good work WWE.

What exactly happened in that Rusev/Cena segment that made Rusev decide to sign the contract? Rusev was willing to be potentially murdered by Cena last week rather than agree to giving Cena the rematch. He brought in (An Impossibly Talented Actor Playing) The Most Believable Russian Lawyer Ever to come up with justification for not having to sign it this week and then he...just signed it anyway? What?

(I'm going to say I don't like anything on this show anymore in a paragraph or two, so I'll say now: I'm still liking Rusev's slow climb into an enjoyable, hyped-up promo guy. Like, don't break him up with Lana, especially since we now have confirmed, on-air proof that the three most over people with the WWE Universe are, in order, Daniel Bryan, Lana and CM Punk, but he's got the goods to cut those 40 second, crazy-eyed monster promos that a good monster heel needs and that we need as an antidote for weekly, garbage 20 minute heel promos. Couple that was his in-ring skills and this guy is for real, the only over talent they didn't undercut at all this year until last week when Cena beat him to death and brought him back to life and beat him to death, but otherwise didn't undercut at all this year.)

Better Ways To Have Brought Orton Back: #43 In A Series
I wouldn't have brought Orton back as a heel, since right before he left, he was once again on the cusp of being insanely over in a way he hasn't been since he was on the cusp of being insanely over when they killed that dead by putting HHH over him at Wrestlemania. But I also wouldn't have brought him back and immediately killed his popularity by having him pretend to side with the heels since I saw how that killed Ryback not four months ago.

So, rather than have Orton do a weird, drawn-out, mostly pointless multi-week plan that he would instantly jettison all for the sake of hitting a finisher that he can famously hit at any time he wants from any place he wants...And following that with Seth Rollins doing a weird, drawn-out, compeltely pointless three-hour plan that he would instantly jettison all for the sake of getting Randy Orton to do exactly what Orton was intending to do...

What if, instead, both of these were part of a longer, weirder, more-drawn out but not pointless multi-month plan to get The Vigilegendary Sting in the ring with his guard down around The Legend Killer, The Apex Predator, The Viper Randy Orton? Like, what if Orton was playing the longest of long cons to finally get his hands on the one legend he never had a chance to kill, the one legend, the only legend, who never stepped foot in WWE, who always kept himself out of RKO range, and if he had to leverage his ties to WWE and The Authority to do it, so be it, because killing The Avatar of The Spirit of The Crow was the final sacrafice The Snake God demanded?

I dunno. Sting vs. Orton, Icon vs. Legend Killer, Vigilante vs. Viper, Franchise vs. One Man Destiny, Face of The WWE vs. Soul of WCW, Bat Man versus Predator...this would be way more interesting to me than how Sting vs. Most Important Wrestler Ever HHH has turned out to be.

Anyway, I don't like anything on this show anymore.

I don't know why Orton isn't just pulling a Benoit and taking out the other members of The Authority one by one backstage every night. I mean, he knows how it works, he knows where they'll be, he loves to punt people when they're down. How is this difficult?

So Undertaker is not going to appear on WWE TV, in a ring, or in front of a crowd from when he left last year's WrestleMania until he enters this year's?

I don't know if this is smart or stupid.

He's never been in the ring with Bray Wyatt, had a staredown, or had any real interaction with him whatsoever. That is so odd for a WrestleMania match.

I do like Bray's "bring it on/no fear" reaction, which is so different to intimidation we've seen from opponents in the past.

Just saw a pic of all those guys in costume before the show:

Holy crap, I would have loved to have been in line behind those guys.

More info on them:
-----------------------------------------------------------
http://wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2015/0318/591482/more-details-on-why-wwe-fans-had-to-change-clothes-at-raw/

FOX Sports reached out for comment and a WWE spokesperson said the company apologized to the fans for being inconvenienced and offered them free tickets to an upcoming event. Apparently the group were told that their outfits were "too distracting" for the broadcast, which is rumored to be a Kevin Dunn pet peeve. Here is a letter that one of the fans sent to WWE and posted on Reddit:

"As a life-long fan of your product, I was very excited to attend your show last night (Des Moines 3/16/2015). I had secured 10 tickets in the front row at $100 a ticket. By my math that is $1,000 that we paid the WWE to attend your event. The seats were in the front row. Being a huge fan, I made sure to invite 9 other rabid fans and we all made the decision to pay tribute to our favorite wrestlers and dress like them. Within 10 minutes of the show starting, we were told that our outfits were "too distracting" and to change clothes, or we would be moved. I assure you none of the members of our party were being in any way unruly or belligerent. You can watch the taping and see for yourself. We were merely watching the show. Now, I have heard rumblings in the past of people being booted from their seats for costumes, but I always sided with the WWE and assumed that those fans HAD to have done something else to lose their seats, and WWE wouldn't boot people for simply dressing up. Now I know that they indeed will do that, regardless of how respectful you are. This seems to contradict your "Be a Star" promotions (which ironically enough was running on the screen as we were being scolded by WWE producers) that seem to encourage fanaticism.
I guess at the end of the day, all I am looking for is an explanation as to why you would boot fans who spend the time, energy, and money on advocating your product. Seems like just the kind of people you would want in your corner.

For the record, I am still in your corner, however disappointed I may be.

Thanks for your time, Matt Sheridan

PS - Had we all been dressed as John Cena or Roman Reigns would the outcome have been different? Please advise so I can let the other 9 guys know for future shows."
-----------------------------------------------------------

I now want everyone in the building to dress up as Cena and Reigns next Monday.
