Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you... Count me amongst the many that cancelled their WWE Network subscriptions after tonight's BS. Which, to be clear, I didn't even bother to watch - I think I've watched one RAW, the post-Survivor Series one, since Brock won the title - but I kept the subscription for NXT and for the archives. But the only message that will work as well as last year's open fan revolt is a shot to the bottom line, so it must be done.
Originally posted by cfgbThis was the ultimate in "I'm Vince McMahon DAMMIT!" shows, and they never fail to make me laugh. As I watched Ambrose, Ziggler, and Wyatt get tossed one by one by a couple of WWE lifers, I imagined him standing by the Gorilla position, rubbing his hands (or something) in glee, screaming "FUCK YOU, INTERNET!"
Which is all well and good, except he'll realize he won't be getting the last laugh when he has the weekly call with the finance guys tomorrow morning (or whenever it takes place), wark wark.
smark/net attack Advisory System Status is: Elevated (Holds; June 18, 2006) While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Okay, yeah, I see what they were going for. If it was somebody the fans were behind it might have made SOME sense but the Rusev thing was still weird just because he kind of staggered into the ring unprepared and wasn't at all a threat or anything so I don't think it made Reigns look good.
Originally posted by StingArmyBad booking or no, that Philly crowd was atrocious for the last hour. "Our guy didn't win so we're going to throw a tantrum until it's time to go home." I get showing your displeasure, but they booed everything that moved not named Rock or Ambrose.

There are a lot of times I'm frustrated with the whiny crowds but I think I'm on their side this time just because the WWE has already damaged Ambrose, Bray and Cesaro pushes so much that thinking they had any shot was just kidding yourselves. They did give Ziggler a decent pop as a last hope but when he was easily slung over the ropes was when the crowd was officially dead.
I was there. I have never seen a crowd so hot die as quickly as when they dumped Bryan. We tried to hold on hope for Ambrose or Ziggler but once Team Two Sad Old Men Who Started Before Most Of The Nostalgia Returns And Are Still Around In 2015 For Reasons I Can't Comprehend started dumping everyone interesting, it was clear where this was going. Our section was chanting for Rusev towards the end. Rusev! Roman Reigns may not be able to string a full sentence together (or more than three moves for that matter) but HIS HAIR IS SO PRETTY, VINCE! SO SO PRETTY!
(With all of that said - the WWE Championship was TREMENDOUS and I really enjoyed the first half or so of the Rumble with Bubba Ray Dudley and Bray Wyatt getting to look awesome again. I'd say it was absolutely worth the six hour Greyhound trip home tomorrow.)

Did you watch last years Royal Rumble match?
And I was also reminded about Cena the year before and Sheamus the year before that. So to sum up, the last FOUR Rumbles have ended with a babyface winning and that babyface getting booed to high heaven.

Tomorrow's RAW is scheduled for Hartford and Tuesday's Smackdown is scheduled for Boston. Both are about to be buried in 2-3 feet of snow. Which means that the only ones that show up for the tapings this week are going to be the diehards.

Wait..I am being serious. I really did like it. The one time I am positive and it gets deleted? You can't feel cheated when that triple threat is over. Yes, they murdered the internet stars, but they always do. Rock coming back was the reason, I got it today. And due to their poor scheduling I get Fast Lane as well for $9.99. You also have to love Mizdow after tonight. Rollins looks made and they have 60 days to fix it and yes they will.
Loved the WWE Title match. It was everything I wanted it to be. Everyone looked strong, Lesnar came in and kicked ass, and Rollins deservedly ate the pin for all the shit he's been stirring with Lesnar since Night of Champions.
Brock looked strong and now I expect Rollins to cash in at WrestleMania (or the Raw the night after) successfully. The fact is, Brock should be champion walking into WrestleMania after the last year, and they can't turn their back on that now. Hopefully, the next two months are more exciting than the last four.
The Rumble had some of the most messed-up booking. The crowd wouldn't have nearly shit on that match as much had the final four been Reigns, Bryan, Ambrose, and Wyatt. They totally could have done that and maintained a hot crowd.
Reigns would have been booed no matter what, but at least you would have avoided an ENTIRE HALF HOUR OF CONTINUOUS BOOING.
Not even The Rock could save Reigns. Whatever Rock vs Reigns WrestleMania dream match Rock has in his head is completely unrealistic and that interview they did together on the post-show proves it.
"You're jumping way ahead of schedule. Let's not talk about Brock Lesnar and WrestleMania, 'cuz I'm too busy to talk 'cuz I'm working on developing a personality for WrestleMania."
Yeah, okay.
I'd love it if Reigns would work out but for the second year in a row, WWE hasn't followed its heart and it's backfired on them, and may continue to.
So, I guess it's now Brock/Reigns, Cena/Rusev, and Sting/HHH for WrestleMania. I'm looking forward to... at least one of those, and I'm going to be there live, so uh... get it together, guys.
They also made sure to shill Austin's upcoming post-Raw podcast with Triple H in a couple of weeks, which is almost assuredly going to wind up being a 100% damage control podcast. That's assuming they don't outright cancel it.

Yes. I have tickets to Raw in Hartford but just don't know about the hour drive there and back with kids in a raging blizzard. Gonna be empty. Do you think they will give refunds since they're obviously not going to cancel a live TV show?

They've cancelled live tapings before when certain wrestlers died. If the snow gets bad enough I think the local authorities can force WWE's hand by pulling security and then they'll just have to run something pre-taped in its place.
If I'm Vince, I don't know what's worse. If the weather forces cancellations, all this negative emotion will just fester and grow for a week with no opportunity for damage control. If they're able to go ahead, a good portion of the part of the crowd that buys into the company line will be kept away by the weather. Either way they're totally screwed. (And they deserve it.)

I haven't watched in a while, but the Rumble just seemed over the top with terrible booking ideas. Reigns seemed forced into a top spot, and the crowd wasn't buying it at all. Eliminating Big Show and Kane at the SAME TIME? A little over the top in my eyes. Rusev coming back seemed like a waste of a good story line. The Rock came by, too, because eliminating the two most dominant rumblers at the same time wasn't enough.
I watch the Rumble yearly, and this years did nothing to make me want to watch further.
So fans blocked the talent parking lot post-Rumble. WWE held Reigns from leaving until late after it cleared. This all according to Sid, who was at the arena.

And as c.f.g.b. pointed out, the brilliant thinking that the Authority would get heat for dumping Ziggler and Ambrose so they'd be even bigger for Reigns. It was like a note-for-note execution of a parody of everything we've been predicting for tonight for the last six months. It was kind of beautiful; like, here we are. They even turned on the Rock. (That Reigns and Rock promo, my god.)
The title match was spectacular, obv. Holy moly. Brock can take as many months between title matches as he wants to after that. OTOH, building up Lesnar so much for ... hooray. This is shaping up for Big Show vs. Mayweather-level backwards psychology. The double turn already happened in one night.
The surprises this year did blow last year's out of the water, at least. R-Truth being D-Von because they both have consonant-hyphenated names was incredibly racist though.
