Yahoo Fantasy Auto Racing: Group Name- The W Racing 2015 edition Group ID#- 2830 Group Password- crz2015
It's that time of year again, folks. Just under a month before the season gets started at Daytona, so if you want in, sign up as soon as you can. Hopefully it is as exciting a finish as it was last year for both the fantasy and league championships. And with this being a big year of transition (NASCAR's first year back on NBC, it's next-to-last as the Sprint cup as well as the last full year for Jeff Gordon), there should be no shortage of story lines to pay attention to this season.
Honestly, I have never been commissioner of a fantasy league before. More than anything, I just want to avoid the drama that has been taking place over the last couple of seasons. First off, the lucky dog option (the option to remove the lowest score from each team per segment) is not being enforced but I will leave it up to a group vote. I don't like it myself but if a majority of you do want it, I will enact it before Daytona. Once the season starts, I don't want to alter the scoring at all, so let me know either here or on the Yahoo page before then.
Secondly, like NASCAR during last season's chase I believe playing fantasy is a bit more fun with some trash talking and fender rubbing, so the posts on the Yahoo group page will not be removed. So go ahead and fire all your shots at me while I fly by and pass all your dump trucks.
But seriously, I want to have a more open and loose fantasy league than in previous seasons. If you guys have any requests or questions, just let me know and I'll do my best to answer them. If you even think I'm not qualified for commissioner of the league, I understand completely and would be willing to transfer it over to another member, although I don't know exactly how I would be able to do that on Yahoo. In any event, I want this season to be a fun one. So best of luck to all of you and may the best racer win.
You're totally not qualified, but neither is Helton. I vote against the Lucky Dog, and for trash talking.

Could someone post a quick recap of the rules? I read the wikipedia article on Yahoo! Fantasy Nascar but it is still hazy.
We get two A-tier drivers for 9 races each. That's 18. There are 36 races in the season, according to last year's starts. Do we not start a driver every week in each category, so that we can pick our spots?
How do you pick up alternates - or are you stuck with the 2 you pick?
You pick 2 from A 4 from B and 2 from C each week by about Thursday. By the start of the race you pick 1 from a to start 2 from B to start and 1 from C to start.
You can switch each week, so if you want to start Jimmie Johnson as your A driver fro the first 9 weeks you can, but then he is gone for you for the rest of the season.
In addition to points for placing, you get points for pole position and the top 4, and for most laps led.
Once the deadline passes you cannot change drivers and once the race starts you cannot switch starters. You need to check after qualifying in case your designated starter didn't qualify.

I'm back after my roster's epic choke job in the finale last year.
Is there any way to change the scoring, like fantasy football gives you? It would be cool to have more variance in scoring from good finishes to bad, but otherwise I think the Yahoo set-up is pretty cool.

A couple things to add...
- ALL eight of your chosen drivers are eligible for the points for qualifying. (I can't remember if you get laps-led bonus points for your bench drivers or not, but I think you only get qualifying points.)
- You only lose a start for a driver if he/she is among your four starting drivers. For example, if Jimmie Johnson is your starting driver for Daytona and Dale Earnhardt Jr. is on your bench, at the next race Jimmie will have 8 remaining starts but Junior will have all 9 remaining.
- Make sure you note when the roster cut-off is each week, because qualifying times are different each week. There's nothing worse than having a Thursday lock-out that you discover Friday.

Good addition. Yeah, it is just qualifying. So you put a Jamie McMurray on your bench for places like Daytona and Charlotte because you know he qualifies well at those places.

After watching The Longest Mile on Showtime, I heard them promoting this new MMA organization. Their first event in February features Ken Shamrock vs Renzo Gracie. Has anybody heard anything else about this new league?
