I'll guess that the payout for being the #2 match on a WWE card is higher than the payout for the main event on an NXT card, plus they get to get a house-based paycheck 4 times a week.

...and if you really hate it that much you just do what Low Ki did and just go back to freelancing. You have to at least try it to see how it goes. Why not pick up a couple of steady paychecks up in the process, and just having your name attached as a former WWE Superstar in the Indys is only going to help you getting better gigs there too. It's better to be called up than passed over.

- According to a PWInsider, WWE Raw’s script was re-written at around 3 PM ET yesterday. It is believed by some that Vince McMahon personally re-wrote it, with many noting that many of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon’s lines sounded like the kinds of things that Vince himself would say. The belief is that the Authority promos were entirely Vince’s and not something Triple H and Stephanie came up with.

Several people backstage in the company were unhappy with the show and felt that the “fired” trio of Ryback, Erick Rowan and Dolph Ziggler were left in a bad position, particularly Ziggler considering his current push.

-------

Good to see RAW was well thought out!

Kevin Kelly: "Mr. Austin, would you like to comment on Wade Keller's Take that endorsing the XFL hurts your anti-authority character?"

Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"

Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"

Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."

RAW is always rewritten by Vince the Monday of the show. That's kind of his bit. Getting it done at 3pm ET would mean it was done far earlier than usual - those same kind of sources have said there's been occasions where the show was being rewritten after it had started.

I'd disagree with this. Wade Barrett got the "Welcome back face reaction" last week -- I don't think that necessarily makes him a hot face. More often than not, WWE expects/acknowledges/plans for that, and the following week is when they're "slotted" into the proper category.

When major things like this happen that you just know can't stay, a good exercise is to think of "How do they undo it?" Usually a sign of a good plotline is if there are multiple logical, interesting ways they can undo something.

When The Authority was cut loose, there were plenty of "undo it" options (though I'm not really a fan of the one they chose). I just don't see the Here to There Path quite so easily on this one, though. It just seems like it almost has to be the "I know I fired you but, grrrr, you're pissing me off so much by interfering that dammit -- you get your wish, you get your job back" route.

That said ... Machines 2015 would be kinda awesome.

This is where you lose me. Why do you still insist on giving them your money? You are the person Triple H trolls in his promos.

As for me, I'm done for a while. I really want to like this show. I'm a lifelong follower of wrestling. RAW's been a big part of my life. I feel I'm as loyal a fan as they could ask for and my expectations are not unreasonable; I don't expect to love this show as much as I did when I was 12. That goes without saying. I just don't want to hate it. And it's getting to that point. Probably check out Rumble if that can be done for free, but no more RAW for me.

I'm right there with you.

For me, the worst part is not that Raw has decreased in quality - even mediocre booking can still be entertaining. My biggest problem is that much of what they've done lately ignores the investment of time I've made up to that point.
And they keep doing it. Why should I get emotionally invested in an angle now, if two weeks later it will be like it never happened?

I've gone from avidly watching Raw, to watching half of it and reading recaps, to just reading recaps every week, to reading recaps once a month, to no longer really thinking about it.

The chances of me subscribing to the WWE network are nonexistent now.

Well, you are not wrong. A lot of it has to do with having a kid and a good chunk of my friends living about 2 to 4 hours away from me. Any chance, I can hang out with my friends I am always going to take. We always get Mania and hang out which is probably the only time I see some of them or third or fourth with at least the other. Because, Mania is a fixed date, it allows people to schedule far in advanced. Now, that all of us have kids.

The other thing is I love the Rumble. It may actually be ahead of Mania for me in excitement level. Now, I went to the Rumble, we no longer talk about and it was awesome. Will this year's Rumble be that good, probably not. Yet, its still the Rumble and I can watch it in a suite with my friends while starting a Lets Go Pens chant in the heart of darkness. That alone maybe worth the $100. Still, if I don't go live, the more I think about it, I don't think I am going to order it. It sucks that for $13, I am passing on my favorite PPV of the year.

There's enough wrestling out there that there's no reason to feel like you're "stuck" with what's on TV. (And I say that as someone who just realized he DOESN'T get Destination America and won't be able to watch TNA Impact as it airs.)

I haven't been to a live WWE event in a few years, and that meant passing on some pretty significant shows in St. Louis like the Rumble and Raw 1000. I'll watch on TV and let someone have the seat in the arena who might actually have a good time in attendance. I get more enjoyment out of my podunk indy shows with a hundred or so people in the audience and no one on the card that casual fans would recognize.

I'm with you guys too, but in a slightly different way. I'm done with Raw, but not because of the quality (well, yes, because of the quality too, but not mainly), but because of the three-hour time commitment. Even trying to record it and fast-forward through it takes time I don't have. I'm 40 years old with a five-year-old and a wife, and we all like to watch a LOT of TV. The days of committing my attention to wrestling on Monday nights are long over.

But am I done with WWE? Nope! I'm a happy network subscriber. It's perfect for how I want to consume wrestling now. I get the PPVs at a reasonable cost, and since those are the shows that are focused on actual matches, I'm happy. I watch NXT and it fills that need for streamlined storylines. ("I don't like you and/or you have a belt I want. Let's fight.") If there's an honest-to-goodness can't miss segment on Raw or Smackdown, you guys will tell me about it and I'll see it eventually. (Side note: I just started checking out "This Week in WWE" and it's PERFECT for me.)

Basically, they've allowed me to change the way I consume their product, and I'm HAPPY about that. I'm perfectly comfortable being a WWE fan who DOESN'T need to watch Raw.

god what a moment. it's pissing me off I can't find a clip. Conor should always be over in Dayton, Ohio because of it.

I think WWE buried the Ascension by calling them up in the first place. Like Adam Rose, I guess it's polite to call up the developmental lifers for a cup of coffee instead of cutting them. That was even the case with Bo even though by all rights Bo could've been a kickass cult character (not a cult character like his brother) and pretty much already was before they lost interest. Fishing before cutting bait at least makes it seem like the system works exactly as intended, which is important since it's a HHH project.

The sooner we can move onto the Ascension joke stage the better, but I really hope Cesaro and Kidd are ahead of them for the next Uso program, so it was annoying to see them get mixed up in New Day stuff. Funny enough, Cesaro and Kidd are Triple H guys almost as much as the Shield and Wyatts due to their exemplary work on NXT field trips that he seems to appreciate a lot more than Vince.

Reigns/Cena, though, can be pretty compelling since most sane people want to see Reigns beat Cena clean.

Yeah, Reigns/Cena is a real possibility, but I think if they were going to do that, then they would let Cena beat Brock straight up first. Saving Lesnar still makes me think Rollins gets the belt, then Lesnar takes Bryan or Reigns out of the Rumble and the other one wins it.

It is fairly hilarious that John Cena, the WWE's top babyface, is far and away the best heel opponent to get Reigns a positive reaction.

TNA does have a proud history since its inception of being turned to as an alternative for bad WWE and then lowering the bar even further, e.g. the Monday night "wars" of 2010. That's the exciting thing about their next tapings -- everyone hates WWE now for good reason, but now we get to see how TNA is going to hilariously step in it. Will they draw 150 people for the tapings and blow their whole budget on Alberto Del Rio w/ Ricardo, who will come in as the new owner and go over all the homegrown guys? It's tantalizing to think about.

It's especially frustrating because there's just no way to express in text how ridiculous it was. People have to see/hear it to understand.

I would have made him an actual cult character like his brother. Seems like the easiest Bo booking (bo-king?) in the world would have been Cena, shaken to his core by the Wyatts turning the children of the WWE Universe against him, suddenly finding positive reinforcement and spiritual advice from the re-debuting Bo Dallas, while a concerned Kofi Kingston/R-Truth/Chris Jericho-esque buddy is mistrustful of Cena's new guru and investigates Bo's secret past. Make it Jericho and you can do the Cena/Wyatt feud right into the Jericho/Wyatt feud with Bray now having a reason for going after a snooping Y2J and writing him out when Jericho gets too close to the truth about the Bo/Bray connection.

Is Ambrose/Bray now topping the list for shittiest feud with the best matches? I don't think I liked any part of that feud story-wise except the lighting and smoke when Ambrose emerged from the ambulance on that one Raw.

My 16 year old son has only wanted and owned 4 wrestler shirts in his lifetime.

Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Brock Lesnar and Bo Dallas.

Hey now, TNA has had its bad years, but I really enjoyed the stuff I was seeing until it moved to Wednesday and I had to stop watching it. The Knockouts division was putting the Divas to shame, there was some good nostalgia angles going with ECW alumni, Abyss was being hardcore, the Wolves were taking on the Dudleys and the Hardys ... If nothing else, it won't be Vince taking up a third of the show with his kids. If both Fridays and Mondays suck, there's always Lucha Underground on replay or ROH ... or I can just say fuck wrestling and watch anime instead. *shrugs*

I was born in Dayton, Ohio, and that... that hurt me. That hurt my family. That hurt everything I ever believed to be true about this world.

I can see Lesnar dropping it, Bryan getting Lesnar, and Reigns getting the belt - and I think that I can see that working. If Bryan is the one who takes down Lesnar and boots him off to UFC, that still makes Bryan look legit amazing for a summer program for the belt. It has potential.
