Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, John Smoltz and Craig Biggio make it into the hall.

Still no PED guys getting close.

There could be a PED guy in this group right here or a group prior which makes leaving Bonds and Clemens out ridiculous. Piazza is probably going to be the first real sketchy one to get in, unless you are unsure of Frank Thomas or Biggio or Pedro ... see.

I'm a big Randy Johnson fan and am really happy for him since he brought me such joy growing up. Every fifth day was a must watch game as a Mariner fan. I actually like all these guys. I have no idea who did what. I assume they all did something back then.

... but most of all fuck the guy who submitted the blank ballot. What's he got to prove?

Great for all these guys to make it in. Next year will be Griffey's year though and I am looking forward to that being that I grew up on The Kid.

I actually don't have an issue with any of those guys going in either. It's nice to see a couple of former Expos make it in, albeit likely going in under different teams. Does anyone ever see Edgar Martinez going in based on his contributions as a DH? I mean, there's an award named after him!

Griffey is the only surefire lock on next year's ballot, though Trevor Hoffman will get a lot of votes (and will probably go into the Hall sooner or later). So with some of the backlog removed from this year's ballot --- the four inductees and Don Mattingly now being ineligible --- that'll open up some space to get Piazza and at least one of Raines/Bagwell into the 2016 class.

"They showed Kazarian talking on his cell phone. Tenay said that was a sign of disrespect. West suggested that perhaps Kazarian was phoning in the moves to someone who is going to help him prepare to face one of these wrestlers. That's one of the worst guesses in history for why someone is on the phone."

Would have liked a Vote for Pedro campaign, though it was unnecessary.

I would hope Trevor gets in, but since he didn't win the Cy Young in his best season, nothing is a lock.

Edgar Martinez got some huge recommendations from both Pedro and Randy Johnson. Click Here (cbssports.com). Hopefully that will help his case.

Meanwhile, another year, another time that people are idiots and don't vote for Tim Raines. Jaffes covers the whystheyareidiots here - Click Here (si.com).

Also, Raines vs Brock:

AVG: Raines
OBP: Raines
SLG: Raines
OPS+: Raines
wOBA: Raines
HR: Raines
SB%: Raines
wRC+: Raines
WAR: Raines
HOF: Brock

Sigh.

I agree with you that nothing is a lock, but I think the hall has been slightly kinder to relievers in recent years and him being the most dominant closer outside of Mariano Rivera during a large amount of his career should get him into the hall next year. I say it's Hoffmann & Griffey as shoe-ins next year with Piazza finally gathering enough votes to be inducted as well. Bagwell should be in as well but I think while he will garner more votes, he'll likely still be left out for another year or two.

Baseball writers, for some reason, feel that there should never be a unanimous first-ballot hall-of-famer and make sure that it never happens by having people submit blank ballots.
