I like it. Not that it's going to make me watch TNA, but it's cool.

Read it and weep, fella

Somebody somewhere (JR?) once suggested that they should ditch "TNA" and change the company's name to "Impact Wrestling". Is this the start of that?

That hexagram seems to lock them into six sides.

Re-branding is a good start.

Also, if they're smart, they're watching Lucha Underground and realizing they also initially set themselves apart from WWE with great backstage production. They don't have to change an awful lot to get really good, and breaking away from the long-standing WWE TV template is a great place to start.

Not a fan. It looks like the banner for a 4th-rate newz site or, to my eternal shame, kinda like the logo for the eFed I tried to get going about 15 years ago.

Oh man. The differences in the spaces are making me twitch. Like, the crossbar in the "P" is way further from the upright than the crossbar in the "A" is. For that matter, the "P" and the "A" are further apart from each other than the other letters are. Agh, I can't look at it anymore.

EDIT: Uh, but it's better than having the initials "TNA" involved, so there's that.

No offence to TNA or anything but I agree -- that looks like something I remember seeing back in 1990 on AOL message boards for some e-fed or something.

Dead on. It reads "Imp-Act Wrestling". IAW flows nicely.

A microphone?

;-)

And, yes, they are locked into the six sided ring. I think Dixie announced, hell, what six months ago? Right after they release AJ Styles, and Styles was bitching about the announcement for a while, then stopped.

I'll be watching as long as it's not on Wednesday nights again ... that really killed my ability to watch my favorite wrestling show (since RAW and Smackdown are regularly booked by retarded chimpanzees).

According to this, it'll be on Wednesday for the first week and then regularly on Friday night at 9pm which I don't even know how they spent all that time negotiating to wind up in the Friday night time slot of doom.

What's the idea behind having the live launch on a Wednesday night and then immediately moving to Friday nights? I mean presumably its because they must have the first taping already booked for the Wednesday night, but it kinda defeats the point of having a live special to attract viewers when you're attracting them to a timeslot that only exists for a week, no?

I much agree with this. That was part of the problem with their Monday 2010 timeslot. They did a huge advertising campaign promoting a Monday show, put on a spectacular show, and then moved to Thursday for the next two months. Even as a huge TNA fan I could barely keep track of the schedule back then. I have to imagine that a lot of their new viewers would have flipped over from RAW during the next couple of weeks, saw nothing, and probably eventually assumed that the new Hogan show was a one-time thing.

If for taping purposes they had to do Wednesday this week, they should at least put on a second first-run show on Friday, so as to be able to quickly train viewers to watch on Fridays.

---

I like the new logo. I was never a fan of the original Impact Wrestling branding. TNA sticking with the blue color scheme and name even after Foley disappeared always felt weird. (In TNA storylines Foley had gained control of TNA, rebranded it as Impact Wrestling, and then was fired two weeks later. For some reason the on-screen villains running the show decided to keep the new look and name.) The new logo makes it feel less stale.

I wonder if they will do other changes to their set.

That's rough for TNA, especially since they'll be competing with Smackdown for wrestling fans who don't have anything to do on Friday nights, but at least that means I'll actually get to watch it after the first episode.

Actually, they won't. The first week that TNA airs on Friday coincides with the first week that Smackdown moves to Thursday nights.

Oh right, i'd forgotten all about Smackdown's planned move to Thursdays. Maybe that'll help TNA then, since wrestling fans were already used to tuning in on Fridays (maybe not so much on the ol' W but still), and now there's a new show for them to catch.

This is apparently the entire theory of Impact on Friday...though SmackDown was moving off that night because wrestler fans were not that interested in that day.

Considering it was the highest-rated show on Friday nights for upteen weeks in a row, you might not be correct there ... then again, I'd want to see what the actual rating was versus the other shows. If Friday night as a whole has, say, 20% of the views that weeknight TV does, it could be fairly faint praise.
