This is late, and I think most of us are accustomed to skipping Smackdown. I was going through WWE's Youtube page when "Dolph Ziggler vs. Cesaro vs. Tyson Kidd Triple Threat Elimination Match for the Intercontienental Title" caused me to lose my shit and stop what I was doing to go find it.
Don't bother with the abbreviated version on their Youtube page. Find this match in it's entirety. It's PPV-caliber with three of the strongest workers currently in the company in one of the greatest matches I've seen on Smackdown since the infamous hour long tag team match(es).
A warning: This is followed up by the actual main event which is Ryback v. Corporate Kane. I suggest you leave on a high note and skip this match.
Cole: "Yeah, thanks to Kane. You should buy Kane a Rolex watch for what he did for you."
Rollins: "Oh don't be silly, Kane doesn't wear watches."
I managed to tune into my cable system's rerun of Smackdown just in time for this match. It is absolutely every bit as good as you'd hope for it to be - easily the best match on RAW or Smackdown in a very, very long time. I agree that it's well worth anyone's time to track this one down.
Very interesting crowd at Smackdown this week - I quite enjoyed how they were chanting for The Bunny when he was wrestling. Of course, being overzealous caused him and Adam Rose to lose. I'm quite digging this storyline.
Kidd/Ziggler/Cesaro should have been given more time. That was a PPV caliber match.
That was one tremendous match. Meltzer said "it impressed the people it would be important to impress" or something like that. Since it's not like there's anything new Cesaro could do to get anyone's attention that he hasn't already, I hope it means Tyson Kidd, who's been an amazing man on three different shows on three different networks this year, can continue to do something on Raw in his elevated status as Not A Job Guy. Also, this whole "building up Dolph Ziggler with strong wins" thing is very strange, makes me uncomfortable.
Interesting that they adopted the old ECW three-way dance rules rather than the traditional WWE triangle match rules. Certainly made for more excitement. This is the best possible result that could've come from jobbing Cesaro out to Tyson Kidd.
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball
I heard about this match and thought, "Oh, I'll catch it on the Universal HD replay on Saturday night!" But, apparently, that's not a thing anymore? Or was it just this week they didn't show Raw/Smackdown?
EDIT: Nevermind. It moved to earlier in the evening and I missed it.
(edited by SchippeWreck on 17.11.14 1004) Everything is awesome.
I did watch it 'live' (though I didn't feel like starting a Smackdown! thread this time) and it was indeed one of the best matches I've seen all year. Ziggler is freaking amazing, and paired up with Cesaro and Kidd, he put on a ***** match. They really should have had the main event slot, instead of ending on the anticlimax that is a match with Kane.
Though then again, Ziggler wrestled even Kane in a cage and got at least a ***1/2 match ...
