I thought last night was rather good, and yes, the lack of Cena did help. IMHO, anyway. Since the One Guy Who Matters isn't around, and the title belt holder snorts at the idea of doing a RAW to help out, everyone else's attention level goes higher.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the not one, but TWO blade jobs they did last night. Cesaro looked like he was hardway bleeding, but I don't remember what spot might have busted him open. Orton I think did blade, and unlike Cesaro they weren't able to 'clean him up' with their paramedics. The blood gave this whole episode a more intense feel, that helped add to 'Mr PG Cena' being gone.

I hope we can at least see a return to light, reasonable bladejobs, since a brutal match like Hell in the Cell or a storyline injury like Ambrose's Curb Stomp on the cinder blocks looks a bit silly without at least a little blood.

Speaking of Orton, OMG was he awesome last night. Both his match with Rollins, his psychotic mic work and his RKO OUT OF NOWHERE to Rollins to break up the Ziggler screwjob, though they totally forgot to ring the bell when he did so. The match was clearly over by that point, with Rollins winning by DQ, but the ringkeeper totally botched the spot.

I also completely missed Kane tripping when it aired. LOL, even when passed out and bleeding he can bust out an RKO OUT OF NOWHERE.

Vince was actually quite interesting, though yeah, he's gotten pretty damn old. And I see they finally have a way to end the Authority angle that's been bogging down the Top Heel spot for years now ... will they, though? I'd much rather see the return of Dueling GMs. Another roster split might even help, since at least one show wouldn't be occupied by the Cena Gravity Well.

No comment yet on the vignettes?

EYEBALL GUY (Harper?) - I don't know if WWE can pull off more than one "creepy" guy at a time, but we'll see

NEW DAY (Woods?) - the combination of James Brown and black preacher (with black choir!) is a can't miss - right up until the matches start. But I'm glad someone is at least going to try to go back to the cape and make us forget that Ernest Miller was the last guy to do that.

I like to presume that Eyeball Guy is going to be Cena's all-time greatest nemesis and opponent at the next four Wrestlemanias. It's a logical matchup...how can Cena say "You Can't See Me" to Eyeball Guy? All he does is see!

After all the vignettes for Luke Harper that have been coming out and the new Bray Wyatt (now with TV editing to cover up all the cellphones), it was neat to see they're doing something with Erick Rowan other than having him team up with Titus O'Neill and the rest of the job squad.

They uncorked Orton. Where Cena gives diction, Randy Orton just straight delivers. Seriously, watch the guy do an irish whip, it's smoother than aloe on a sunburn. The guy's crazy fluid in execution of everything he does in the ring. Make him a face and let him deliver that. Let him be unhinged and energetic; hell he's even out-Ambrosing Dean Ambrose at this point.

Great sell for the PPV, or, uh, FPV to not only make it must watch. How can Cena AND Orton lose at Survivor Series when you know the Authority will be around for a while?

VERY curious to see the rest of the card if Rusev and Sheamus get into the match as well. Zach Ryder is a very logical choice to be a partner for Cena; even better would be the Ryder turn on Cena. Corporate Ryder!

I tuned into the last 15 minutes or so for the first time in a LONG time. Enjoyed the match between Rollins and Orton. But, is the Curb Stomp REALLY supposed to be a devastating move? I mean, Rollins doesn't have Mark Henry's bulk. Not buying that one at all. What am I missing?

Try it and get back to us.

Sure. I could try a vertical suplex and it would hurt like hell too, but I'm not buying a vertical suplex as a finisher, either.

It's taking a guy's head and forcing it as hard and as fast as you can with your foot straight to the ground. Have you not watched American History X?

I'll put it this way, I've seen a kid get attacked by gang members before and the kid got curbstomped on sidewalk back in 10th Grade. I never saw the kid again.

Yes I laughed at how implausible Dean getting stomped through cinder blocks was. Ahh believablity in rasslin' don't ever change.

Cole: "Yeah, thanks to Kane. You should buy Kane a Rolex watch for what he did for you."
Rollins: "Oh don't be silly, Kane doesn't wear watches."

Cesaro's was definitely not a blade job - no one blades the side of their head like that. I think he caught an elbow from Ambrose on the outside of the ring, and that's when it started. I would doubt Orton's was a blade either, especially since the announcers didn't bother to call attention to it either time.

I was surprised to see the positivity coming out of this show. I thought it was quite frustrating to watch, partly because there was a lot of good in-ring work, as well as a step in the right direction with the final segment.

My main problem was Vince McMahon coming out and randomly, without any build-up or explanation, put The Authority's position on the line at Survivor Series. WWE's not even attempting to cover up their desperation to get people to watch the Network. It just felt so thrown-together and last minute, and unless Vince is turning into a Denny Crane-like character, it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

By the same token, I understand WWE wanting to get people to the Network, and in theory, Sheamus vs. Rusev live for the U.S. Title after Raw was a good idea. But if you watched Raw AND the post-show match, you watched three hours and 39 minutes basically of Raw. Because when I think of WWE and Raw, I just think, "you know, three hours just isn't enough. I wish there was more Raw I could watch!"

Of all the ways HHH's lizard brain could've responded when told out of the blue he might lose his absolute power in a few weeks for no particular reason… poker-faced acceptance? I thought that was utterly heroic. You'd think he might have tried (1) "You can't do that! I'm calling Otunga." Or (2) "I acknowledge that you can do that. However, please reconsider because it's not BFB and here's why." Or (3) "I'm going over your head to the board of directors, who won't approve of such cavalier decision making, you crazy old man." Maybe he knew it was coming, even though Vince seemed to be making it up on the spot. Or maybe he already had an ace up his sleeve for the match and thus it didn't bother him, which would make his frantic team-building the rest of the night look weird.

I mean, it's not like I'm offended by (what I see as? maybe wrongly?) the plot hole. As usual, the show is way better for it. It's just funny. That's wrestling.

My thoughts exactly. Orton is the original Lunatic Fringe. His song openly talks about the voices in his head. Sane people don't have voices in their heads, and they damn sure don't talk to them or understand. But they talk to Orton. He has been doing such a spectacular job over the past month, and this goes back all the way to "Workhorse Orton" from his matches with Christian (RIP). Orton standing around like a man without direction or anything meaningful to do seems like it was a byproduct of creative not giving him anything meaningful to do or a direction. That Orton is boring. Sure, he tried to spice it up with random yelling at fans and inanimate objects, but that can only take you so far. Ask Mark Henry. My problem is that Orton is so clearly outclassing Ambrose at every step, from micwork to ringwork, that Ambrose seems superfluous at this point. I fear that they will ask Orton to dial it back and then he becomes generic Face again. Outside of the initial "Orton is nuts and he's trying to kill every McMahon" story of several years ago, this is the best overall work we've seen from him and this is the most over he has been in forever. It would be a shame for it to stop. But I can't see how they sustain multiple crazy people (Wyatt, Wyatt Family, Orton, Ambrose, I'm sure I'm forgetting someone). Crazy is fun, and it works, but it's also lazy writing and they might have painted themselves into a corner.

Okay, I get what you're saying. On that note, here are a few profiles of famous professional wrestlers.

1. Beer swilling redneck who could violently attack anyone that's within his proximity at any given moment, most notable for attacking and antagonizing his employer rather than find a new job.

Well, that guys pretty crazy.

2. Huge musclebound blonde who screams at cameras and into microphones, claims he's the toughest man in the world due to prayers and vitamins while chewing on his own headband.

Nuts.

3. Suave, sophisticated, and smooth guy who walks around telling people he likes pancakes, has an affectation for polishing things and sodomizing others with them, and even had a feud with John Cena over how uncrazy Cena is/was.

Bonkers.

4. Wrestling zombie...

Insane.

5. I wear a necktie and mask...

Insane.

Hell, even D-Bry went to therapy. On live television.

So, to me, I would say the desire to put on panties and fight other people in a ring is the FIRST step on the path to insanity...

Team them up!

Two unpredictably insane whackjobs taking on the world!

Hopefully this'll work as brilliantly as Piper/O'Haire, but I'm guessing the reality would be closer to Heidenreich/Snitsky.
