I used to like Dave when he had the radio show. But after the show, when I only have his text to read, I see he is a bit of an arrogant SOB. I compare him to Bret Hart. Both take this way too seriously. I am aware wrestling makes him his money, but he doesn't have to act like he is the god of wrestlting reporting.
Even though they have caught the "pop-up virus", pwtorch seems to be alot more fan-friendly nowadays. They actually act like fans who happen to have a site that has contacts than an "ultimate insider who is better than everyone." The way he is just so smart that it is ridiculous. I am sure watching the WWF with him is like torture. I would have been laughing my ass off at the Big Show/Booker T skit in the APA's office on RAW. He would have been like, "is that going to draw any money? How is that going to sell a PPV?"
Maybe I am off base here, but dammit this is what site bashing is all about!
January 4th 1999 - The day WCW injected itself with 10 gallons of Liquid Anthrax...AKA...The day Hogan "Defeated" Nash to win the WCW title in front of 40,000.
That also showed up in their "Ratings and a Lesson to be Learned" quip about the Raw ratings. He's starting to look like a CFO wannabe, rather than the newshound "insider".
2002 rspw Quote of the Year: JR--"Lita's no Cheater"
I seriously think Meltzer is losing his mind, I'm not kidding, the guy is over the top paranoid.
The screaming of "I told you so, I told you so" if the ratings drop a bit, like all hell is going to break lose.. The total paranoia over Jericho push and the return of Triple H.. He's reading way too much into everything now a days I can't even read his stuff most of the time.
I think I have a reason for this happening, after WCW & ECW died out the need for "insider" stuff has dropped with it. There's about 60-70% less stuff going on backstage becuase there is only one major wrestling federation.. He sees "inside" wrestling based website/magazines going the way of the dinosaur, Meltzer's seeing his meal ticket going out the window.
So what does he do, first he tries his best to pimp mixed martial arts as "wrestling news" hoping to fill in what WCW/ECW let off. Saying how great it is and how every wrestling fan should get into... What else does he do, magnafie EVERYTHING that goes on the WWF, make major story over little things. Just to keep interest.. I compare it to a small market city with one sport team having a 24 hour sports station, there's one thing to talk about so you try over-analyze everythin in that sport
Heh, talking about Meltzer reminds me of a sign I saw. It was on the Smackdown with TLC 3. There was a guy in the stands somewhere in the upper left corner I think of the TV that happened to have a sign that said "MELTZER FEARS KELLER". No surprise that the guy had a "RESPECT BENOIT" sign during the TLC 3.
From the Mighty Observer: "Without naming names, I think they want to tease that everyone, not just Hall, Nash and Hogan, but Savage, Bret, Luger, etc. on that video may be coming back to build short-term ratings. Since Hogan is coming in, for the fans who don't know, it won't be a letdown. "
Did anyone get this vibe? I know I didn't. This is what I am talking about. Dave can't sit back and say, "That was a great video", he has to flex his "Wrestling ESP" and give the video a meaning no one intended and wanted. But then again, he is better than all of us.

Everybody knows that Vince is going to go, "HA! FOOLED YOU! I'm VINCE McMAHON DAMMIT! You all forgot that I was talking to a mirror! *WHUT?* Talking backwards! *WHUT?* And writing backwards too! *WHUT?* So instead of the nWo, shut the hell up, I'm bringing in the ONE...... WARRIOR..... NATION!" And the WWF as a whole will collapse in on itself. Thus creating a large enough space/time rip so Vince can jump back to 1997 and begin crushing WCW and Ted Turner all over again.
I don't subscribe and probably never will. We used to get all that stuff for free on the radio show. But with his turn for an "elite" worst, I hate to read what he is writing in his newsletter. I guess I would get the Torch if I was going to get anything. They seem like alot more fun to read and are still fans.

Woo! At least somebody read that and got a kick out of it. Vince would do it, too, given half the chance. He'd also try and remake the XFL again... to dismal results again... but everybody's got flaws
I subscribe to the Torch, and the only big complaint I have mirrors odessasteps' comment about the Observer. There are too many grammatical and spelling errors in the Torch Newsletter. My friend gets the Observer newsletter, and you need a magnifying glass to see the print. What font is that, 8 pt? I also echo the comments about the Torch and pwtorch.com seeming more fan-friendly. Keller doesn't seem to talk down to his audience, and they are only too willing to post fan comments about anything and everything. Of course, how much "diverse reaction" can you have to Raw? The website has posted my comments on a number of occasions, so their bar must be set pretty low.

Wow. What a pathetic attempt at connecting a wrestling storyline with history and current events. The marks on the WWE site should stick to shilling and lying to make money, or at least this one should.
