Several skippable chunks in this show. It's good to see Dolph finally getting a title push, even if it is one of the lesser belts. Ambrose was the highlight of the evening as always.
The main thing I wanted to post about ... did anyone else but me spot the Deadpool cosplayer standing next to Ambrose when he was inviting Rollins and the Authority to come get the briefcase? They never showed anything but a red-costumed shoulder and what looked like a sheathed katana coming off the guy's back. I'd screencap it if I could. I seriously thought Ambrose was going to debut a new partner or something, but nothing came of it.
Oh yeah ... and the Luke Harper promo video was pretty sweet, I didn't really mind them playing it twice since I missed it the first time grabbing my dinner. Harper may be getting a singles push soon.

There is no way Ambrose can be standing next to his alter ego, also that was an extension cord and rigging. I had to rescan RAW after I read your thread hoping you were right and tonight was "RAW is Marvel" night.
Ah it's the time of year were the WWE goes overboard with all the pink supporting Breast cancer Research. Boy I can't wait to see what they do to raise testicular/prostate cancer awareness in November......wait they didn't even dedicate a segment to prostate cancer awareness last year? Not one furry shirt worn by Cena? Surely they'll give some money or mention it this year.
Now we know why The Wyatt's were away last week. They had to shoot a promo directed by Rob Zombie. Here's hoping Rowan got one too as the video was almost as great as the Sting 2k15 commercial.
Ziggler/Cesaro/Miz featuring Mizdow mirror selling was great. The did a Triple Threat the right way, with multiple three man spots done X-Division style. I could see them do that again.
Man how pissed would you be if every time you come out the crowd is to busy being collective smart asses and chanting for your retired spouse? How pissed is Punk that his wife is working her ass off and the crowd can't give up the ghost. He gets it you want him back WWE crowds, trolling the Punk's wife is probably the best way to get him to never come back I'm thinking. At least we got a small "we want A.J." chant during one of the Total Divas matches.
I'm not talking about Ambrose tonight. I'm sick of talking about how fantastic everything that dude does feels. Never mind all that shit, Jaime Noble and Joey Mercury are officially the new Corporate Stooges, call them Double J and have them bumble around every Friday it's whats best fa bi'ness Maggle!
(edited by CruelAngel777 on 30.9.14 0202) Cole: "Yeah, thanks to Kane. You should buy Kane a Rolex watch for what he did for you." Rollins: "Oh don't be silly, Kane doesn't wear watches."
I actually like everything that anybody related to Authority does in backstage segments. Triple H and Steph are great, I want more of Stooges 2.0 and Orton and Kane do great with the jealousy of Rollins. I just wish there was something for Orton/Kane to do in the ring that wasn't the same thing over and over again.
I love Alicia Fox so I hope this Paige partnership lasts a long time so she can get some screen time but I was just thinking the other day that when Paige gives up on her AJ "friendship" that she should team up with Tamina. I mean, Tamina is still in the company right? And they never finished the Tamina/AJ break up feud did they? Makes more sense to me but I like Alicia better so whatever.
I didn't see the Deadpool cosplayer but I did see the giant Colt Cabana head. I thought maybe the Chicago crowd would do something different and do Cabana chants instead of Punk chants.
Hogan and Rusev were in the same building without bumping into each other or anything? Fail.
So are we all in agreement that Luke Harper's official backstory is that he's a war veteran who returned home suffering severe PTSD only to be taken in and reprogammed by Wyatt? That seemed to be the implication. (Expanded The-W Universe Backstory: the psychiatrist working at the VA hospital assigned to help [let's say Staff Sgt.] Harper was Dr. Shelby, who saw his potential for destruction and sent him to his prized twisted creation, Bray Wyatt, for indoctrination.) As badly as they've handled the Wyatts since Wrestlemania, if this is the start of the Luke Harper push we've been lobbying for, I'm all in.
I respect how they're attacking The Ambrose Problem from two angles: not only the normal "people like this thing, so let's put John Cena in this thing, too!" angle, but also "let's make Ambrose do John Cena things now, complete with Michael Cole laughter because it's so funny guys". I think Ambrose is making it work because he's that good (mostly his reaction shots, and his continued, out-in-the-open promises that he's eventually going to shank Cena), but there's a part of me that's disappointed that we just saw Ambrose doing Cena hinjinx (just like they tried with Reigns and his vials of shitting powder) instead of Ambrose doing what I assume would be the Dean Ambrose version of Cena hijinx: -like, maybe Ambrose could have gutted Khali and was hiding inside him when the new stooges has that pointless backstage bit -or, instead of You Can't Do That On Television slime, the briefcase shot out battery acid, cuz Ambrose doesn't know any better. I dunno, just spitballing here.
I'll join in what I assume will be the chorus of people who like Noble and Mercury as Brisco & Patterson, especially Noble. This is clearly self-aware, enjoyable HHH in action. Less enjoyable is the HHH (and Stephanie) who made sure they got to get the last, emasculating word in on every single non-Rusev heel last night. Like that bit at the end of the opening where Heyman spells out the threat of unleashing Brock on Rollins to deter future cash-ins...and then HHH pointlessly calls Heyman back in just to make sure it ends with him as the real tough guy. I mean, it's nothing huge when he's seemingly the one guy fighting the good fight for the TV product, but he just can't help himself, can he?
Sandow is doing Olympic-level comedy work, obviously. It's weird that they have Riley under contract and just fired Vader's kid, who is an almost exact clone of Miz, but it seems unlikely that either of them would be able to do an eighth of what Sandow is bringing to the table.
Rusev breaking out in weirdly specific, mangled English threats to Show: not quite as funny as Big E's "OOoooooOOOOoooo I GOT THE MIC NOW!" verbal debut, but still kind of amazing.
Since they're apparently going to team up on every show forever now, and to get a head start on Justin and Albert for the annual, unofficial Survivor Series Team Names competition, I'm just gonna go ahead and throw this out for Orton/Kane right now: RAND CORPORATION.

And you are everything wrong with this show. Yeah, lets recycle more McMahon shit with Noble and Mercury. Noble was never over, Nadia was. Mercury is just well random tag team dude.
Ambrose is the only highlight on this show and if they start moving him into Cena territory, they will ruin him. If anyting, they need to move him far away from Cena. Let him do his own thing. On top of it, don't even have him wrestle. Let him fuck around and never be caught, let him be the Bugs Bunny of the WWE to Rollins' Daffy Duck and HHH's Elmer Fudd. If the World Champ doesn't feel the need to wrestle neither should be their future star.
I like the idea of Dean Ambrose better than the Dean Ambrose that is being presented to us. Green slime gags aside, there are times where I feel he is doing too much mugging and trying to be cool, and not just letting loose and being crazy. Which might be the problem my idea of Ambrose is Pillman mixed with Austin with a touch of Raven. Your idea of Ambrose is probably different. None of our ideas of Ambrose match what WWE sees which just leads to disappointment.
Ambrose's "they sent the cruiserweight division after me" was good. Any problem I had about his demeanor in the segment was overshadowed by (deep sigh) the damn announce team. They just clobber everything. They are the WWE Rosebuds.
I watch each Ziggler match with a breath held in suspicion that they're gonna yoink the rug once more. I hope he holds the belt until Barrett comes back. That match(es) should be very good.
"To be the man, you gotta beat demands." -- The Lovely Mrs. Tracker
Yeah screw that, I loved Jamie Noble even when he didn't have Nidia (though I liked Nidia too). Seeing more Noble action was great!!
I enjoyed Nikkis meta level punishment to Brie being to have to wrestle Cameron and Eva.
I'm so tired of the Big Show.
I like how Rollins has actually basically just become a main event player. Originally his inclusion in The Authority he didn't really look like he belonged. Now I can actually believe him ordering Orton and Kane around (though there will be a reckoning).
Even you, Dean. But at least you make the best of it.
WWE is so cold in the fall they can even flatten out a Chicago crowd. Ambrose replacing Reigns in the big four has saved the show to an extent, but it's like, geez, the one time John Cena actually cares about getting screwed out of the title, it has to butt into the Ambrose/Rollins death feud. Now instead of the most appropriate, best-timed HIAC stip since 2008 for Ambrose/Rollins, we apparently have to do this watered-down four-way Wrestlemania X Tournament in a Cell muddle.
I was overjoyed that they finally went all the way with Stooges:TNG. Finlay is the Commissioner Slaughter of course. I hope they continue using these guys so much that they end up getting a video game check.
Lana's world-shattered dismay over Rusev's thwartings is almost as good as Mizdow. Mark Henry costing Big Show the Rusev match and going back to face Show vs. heel Henry is going to be a perverse time loop back to 2011 that's just going to lead to another Henry injury, another Big Show heel turn, and, then, ultimately, them teaming as babyfaces again. (The fan theory of a David Lynchian mobius strip structure of WWE storytelling purports that Ambrose, Punk, and Bryan are all the same person. Identity is mutable. As Rimbaud said, "I is another.")
Ziggler/Cesaro is a funny program for the hardcore crowds since the insurrectionary reaction to their matches amounts to "uh. correct. please don't bury either of them."
What must Wade Barrett think to see what's become of his two top soldiers, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel. Dressing up as a bunny was not part of the Corre ethos. Slater Gator's entrance was well worth the wait, however.

hell yeah. hell yeah. it's almost the most wonderful time of the year. As it turns out, I thought this show telegraphed the Survivor Series main event pretty transparently.
Rollins/Orton/Slater/O'Neil ROLLINS BAND vs. Ambrose/Cena/Rose/Bunny AMBROSE BUDS
"Brer Rabbit babyfaces"? You mean the trickster hijynx? Yeah, I'm sick of it too, but that's the new WWE, trying to appeal to kid fans while alienating the people who can actually pay for the tickets and the Network.
I also thought it was a bit odd that HHH was the one putting the heels in their places when he's the heel authority figure ... I won't lie, I did enjoy him calling the Miz a 'straight-to-DVD' star, though that's also a bit insulting to WWE Films.
Is it sad that I enjoy Mizdow so much? He's doing great at the comedy, and at least it's a steady angle instead of coming out as a Cheap Heat Heel once a week to get 5-second squashed and go home. Sadly, his 'intellectual heel' gimmick was so played out that it just wasn't working for him. I loved him trying to sell the knee injury along with Miz.
So who are the WWE's 'Big Four' currently? With all the shakeups, injuries, and aborted angles I'm thinking its: 1) Brock, by virtue of being the champ (albeit a mostly absent one) 2) Cena (ugh) 3) Ambrose 4) Rollins
On the upside, Ziggler's gone from a glorified jobber to a secondary title holder, which is a definite step up for him. They still have no idea what to do with Cesaro.
BTW, anyone know why Cena fucked up the Fireman's Carry and dropped Kane during the main event? He seemed a little concussed (I can only hope), and Kane definitely looked confused for a moment. It wasn't a huge fuck-up, but a noticeable one. Even Ambrose looked a little sloppy during the ME, catching his foot on the ropes and pretty much falling a foot short of Kane, who still had to sell the move like he got hit by a train.
On a final note, Kane looks astoundingly normal these days. He just seems like a big tough guy instead of a crazed demonic monster.
But see, the kids bug the parents to buy them the wrestling stuff and that means the parents have to buy tickets too when they take the kids to the shows...
Miz got in a subtle dig on commentary when he referred to "Mr. Chaperone". #fieldtrippin

Really? I had no idea that it was my fault that the WWE does too many authority figure angles. I didn't know that it was my doing that led to an angle between two talentless women while Paige and AJ (and even Alicia) are doing great things in and out of the ring. I had no idea that I'm responsible for the WWE doing nothing with the IC and US titles and not building up enough faces to have a backup when somebody like Reigns goes down with an injury. I guess I also shouldn't have convinced Vince to have a terrible tag team division and to extend Raw to 3 hours. Man I suck, I'll try and make things better for you, I promise. Just make a list of things you want me to change and I'll take it directly to Vince and tell him to fix all these things for you.

That was an attempted AA. Cena's done the "this guy is too heavy and/or I'm too beaten down to complete the AA" spot a few times before, so it wasn't a mistake.

It kinda looked like he picked him up too quick and wasn't really balanced when it started.

Yeah, and Kane did look legitimately confused by the drop, for a moment ... then he remembered he wasn't wearing his mask anymore, put his poker face back on, and tagged in Orton. I'm thinking that even if it was an intentional spot Kane didn't know it was coming, and it really looked like he just buckled under the weight and improper positioning.
