http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/334826/The-Latest-on-TNAs-TV-Future,-Bully-Ray-and-Talent-Contracts.htm I am very interested in who the other tv networks TNA is talking to. According to Meltzer at least one has more homes than Spike, but does not have the same demos.

Here's the actual paragraph

As noted before, Spike was trying to be a good partner for TNA and give them until the end of the year to negotiate a new deal. While the public word is still both sides are in negotiations, the negotiations with Spike over a new deal ended several days before the TMZ story broke. While the Velocity channel has come up publicly, as has WGN America in some circles as far as a possible future destination, TNA is in talks with at least two others channels. There are at least four stations right now in play, and at least two of them would be more significant than either WGN or Velocity, and one is stronger than Spike but doesn’t have the matching demographics of Spike. The report we got is the WGN America deal, if made, could include pre-emptions. The question is how much they can get when it comes to rights fees and until the deal is complete, they aren’t making any new deals, or at least making very few, and it looks like they aren’t doing much in the way of house shows, so those on a per-show deal are going to be earning a lot less at least until the end of the year. And there is, in TV, a big difference between talking and having meetings and inking a contract and right now, everything is up in the air regarding the future.

On the podcast, Meltzer said any previous rumors/theories about Spike maybe wanting a cheaper deal or maybe wanting to start their own wrestling company to replace TNA are false. They're getting out of wrestling as soon as TNA is gone (end of the year.)

Let's do some Sherlock stuff. There's a 2013 list of cable networks by reach here. Spike is 25th on list.

The 24 above them (which includes a couple split networks)

THE WEATHER CHANNEL - nah
CNN / HLN - nah
FOOD NETWORK - hilarious but no
TBS NETWORK - nah
DISCOVERY CHANNEL - presumably not since sister network Velocity is a bidder
NICK-AT-NITE - nash
NICKELODEON - nah
ADULT SWIM - there's definitely wrestling products which might fit here, including TNA at some times. Seems a reach
THE CARTOON NETWORK - nah
USA NETWORK - no!
CABLE NEWS NETWORK - no!
A&E NETWORK - not what they're going for
LIFETIME TELEVISION - different demos for sure
HOME AND GARDEN TV - ditto
HISTORY - the Hogan/Flair/nWo era would've worked
DISNEY CHANNEL - nah
TURNER NETWORK TELEVISION - no.
HEADLINE NEWS no!
TLC - eh?
COMEDY CENTRAL - too obvious
ESPN - nope
ESPN2 - nope (and they'd be pre-empted all the time)
AMC - doesn't quite fit
MTV: MUSIC TELEVISION - no.

In summation, I have no idea. TLC seems like it's gotten out there of late so maybe that's it?

Adult Swim's been looking for a replacement ever since they canned "Mongo Wrestling Alliance," but I'm not sure TNA will allow themselves to cut their timeslot to 15 minutes.

Yea, and that ended poorly.

Many of these networks seem to run short seasons of shows and rotate them in and out of their schedule. MTV especially seems that way - they seem to run 8 or 13 episodes, and a 52 week wrestling product doesn't fit. Anyone can change if they want it enough.

It'll be something like TruTV, or Esquire or TV Land, maybe WGN America, maybe Fox Sports 1

MTV is a Viacom channel, no? I could see TNA ending up on trutv for sure. I think FS1 is highly unlikely even though Impact would likely be their highest rated show.

WGN has an odd schedule and I can't see anyone building any sort of hype for TNA. The last new show, Salem, I barely heard anything about even while it was running. I think all I really know about WGN is when I come across 30 Rock reruns at 6.

Still, for nostalgia sake, it would be fun since it's probably the closest to TBS Superstation back in the 90s as can be.

FX/FXX? CMT? E!? OWN? Oxygen? LOGO?

FX is in more homes than Spike and I think it skews more towards females. I could easily see FXX picking it up seeing as it's a brand new network and TNA would be a great fit for it's viewership.

CMT seems a natural fit for a wrestling show. If not TNA, thenthey should consider airing Jarrett's new fed.

E! could air it, but they've already got Total Divas from Vince.

OWN, I think, might also have more households than Spike, thanks to Oprah. It is geared towards the exact opposite of what Spike wants out of viewers. If TNA were to highlight the Knockouts more, I think it could do well here. And the same goes for Oxygen. An all Knockouts show would probably do great on either one of these networks.

LOGO just aired a documentary about GLOW last year and I remember it doing well for them. A wrestling show centered on the Knockouts would do well, as would a regular wrestling show, as long as they keep it more soap opera like.

Forget it Josh... it's Cerebustown.

Tribune Media is in the process of completely rebooting WGN America just like Time Warner did for TBS, and I don't expect the network's name to survive another 18 months. They're in an original program development/acquisition drive, so this would be a good fit for them.

CMT has been repackaging a lot of 90s content. I'd be surprised if wrestling didn't fit with their Cops / Dog the Bounty Hunter / Stone Cold's Skull Ranch / whatever lineup.

CMT would make the most sense for TNA, especially to partner with Austin's show/etc. That said, since Cubs did the work I was hoping someone else would do to figure out the cryptic "bigger than Spike" clue:

I would think/hope that if someone at Adult Swim or Comedy Central was actively thinking of getting some wrestling content for some reason - am I misremembering (possible)/making up (even more possible) rumors that Comedy Central was trying to get the AWA library a few years ago? - they'd be looking at Chikara instead. Time traveling wrestlers and ants would feel like a better pairing with Andy Daly than Samuel Shaw would. That said, I'd welcome an EC3/Forrest Macneil team-up.

I wouldn't rule out A&E from a brand perspective at all. TNA wouldn't be that far out from Duck Dynasty, tattoo shows and Storage Wars.

AMC's the one the that initially feels like the bigger brand stretch since it has its Sunday night prestige slate, but AMC has severe disassociative brand disorder and TNA would go right alongside the KISS Arena Football show and the Kevin Smith comic book shop show and that security guard show. And there's a part of me that would love to see Chris Hardwick forced to try to perma-grin and pretend like TNA is the best thing ever in a weekly "Talking Nonstop Awesome!" post-show.

TLC probably makes the most sense, since their entire line-up is branded reality show stuff. They'd just have to pair TNA up with whatever the most shameful night's line-up is. (Then again, Cake Boss* has the ability to see into the future, so maybe Chikara's time travel booking also makes more sense here.)

Obviously, I'm pulling for the Weather Channel.

Have to agree. FXX makes the most sense to me. I think they'd be a good fit for each other.

Agreed as well on FXX. Bring back the "Fox Box" with match time and competitors!

Sheesh, am I really nostalgic for 2004 already?

Oh wow. The ability of Cake Boss (Cake Boss) to communicate with Fictional Heaven could retroactively explain how Suicide was transported from a video game to wrestle in TNA.

Reviving a dead thread before someone c&p's a c&p site

At TV this past week, Dixie Carter told talent that she guarantees they will be on TV on January 7, 2015, the first Wednesday after the deal with Spike expires. Sources in the television world indicate that the belief is that TNA has not signed a deal (which multiple sources have confirmed is the case at press time), but is in very serious talks. The expectation is there will be a deal and the show will continue on Wednesday nights. The plan, if the deal goes through, is for the first TNA show after Bound for Glory to be a live television taping on 1/7 from the Manhattan Center.

Dave brings up Velocity and WGN America as possible homes, and believes CMT is one of the other possible destintions. He says the mystery fourth channel "not a cable station." I'd guess that means over the air (though could be read as Dish/DirecTV owned station) and Ion's previously shown WWE programming.

general notes
- TNA's recent tapings, airing thru 11/19, are the last for Spike. The episodes from 11/26 to 12/31 (end date iffy, holiday shows may be skipped) are believed to be Best of material. Bound for Glory in Japan is the only TNA show of any kind left on the schedule for 2014.

- they've taped past Bound for Glory. It appears will have no title matches since TNA will only acknowledge title changes afters they've aired and Japan is used to crediting title matches when they happen - it's just easier not to deal with titles.

- anyone who's contract has come up has only been offered a per night deal; wrestlers won't get paid if there's no shows. The promise is that everyone will get new deals when the new TV deal is signed and TNA knows what they can afford, but those guys are receiving no pay for the rest of the year.

- At the same time, those nightly deals allow those people to leave at any time...and so any title switches you may see on TV in the next month are (usually, not always) motivated by making sure the only people who have championships are those who are still signed long term.

- TNA wrestlers, essentially laid off for three months, are now allowed to work any indy date - except those where they'd be on PPV, iPPV or TV. I'd assume this is why a whole bunch of TNA guys suddenly turned up on the CHIKARA shows this past weekend.

How about NetFlix or Amazon Prime or Hulu

Does it really matter what channel TNA lands on? I've got to say, if a national (heck, international) wrestling company is having to resort to per appearence deals I don't really think they'll be around in six months.
