So, after two episodes, we have the Regeneration/Have to get used to the new guy episode and of course, the Dalek one. I like Peter as the Doctor, but these episodes haven't helped. Deep Breath shambled though a bit. Disappointed, we had to go through the Doctor has amnesia for quite a bit. The Victorian Trio needs their own show. Clara is a bit odd in both episodes. She seems to magically forget about regeneration even though she has seen them all and meet two of them, it was weird for her to ask to change him back. The 11th phone call was awesome.

The Fantastic Voyage into the Dalek was good and bad. Good in we meet Mr. Pink, who I think will be fun and we have a Dalek that likes to kill other Daleks. Bad in we continue the theme the Doctor is as bad as the Daleks. I thought we beat that dead in Tennat's run and Clara slapping the Doctor even though in the end, he is right. Hate fuels the Daleks.

They haven't done a good job of giving Peter, the I'm the Doctor scene. It needed to be done right away. As for the mysterious woman. Place your bets on evil Timelord, River or something else.

I like Capaldi, but he's really gotten into a very unenviable position right here. The role is clearly still being written with Matt Smith in mind, so doing something different with the material is visibly challenging. Still, he's finding his footing, and he's managed to do some good stuff here and there. It's all very patchy still, and I'm hoping it comes together better down the line.

As for who our mystery lady is, I'm personally hoping for the Master, because that would be a really new and unique thing to do with that character, but failing that, I'm hoping for something completely brand new.

Missy reminds me of the online gag that Mary Poppins was a Doctor.

The Robin Hood episode was fun. Just fun, and that was fine.

There are some moments this season that look extraordinarily cheap, like Roger Corman cheap. As if the director couldn't quite make the props and movement work together. I don't expect the biggest of budgets from Doctor Who, but those shots needed another take.

Each week we seem to get more titles than before - 349 this week - yet each week a lower percentage of them are actually new DVDs you'd think about buying. But, we forge on... This Tuesday's crop breaks out to 284 DVDs, 48 Blu-rays and 17 "digital....
