What's interesting is their text version incorrectly states I'm set up to go month-to-month when they are also clearly telling me this is my last week. (I suspect nobody reads the text versions of these emails.)
I'm still inclined to let things slip for a month as my meager form of protest against all the hard selling they've been doing lately, but we'll see if I experience withdrawl. (Also if they make good on the promise to show up on my Samsung "smart" Blu-ray player or not)
I don't like the whole automatic renewal thing that I then have to opt out of.
I'm pretty sure the last non PPV thing I watched was the Saturday Night Main Event I wrote about, so I don't know if I'll have withdrawals. The non stop shilling isn't why I'm not eager to resign, it's seeing if they freak out when the numbers plunge. Which isn't really fair, because The Network is still a great deal even if the current product blows.
They should offer me a free ICO Pro duffle bag or something.
I've already decided to let my subscription lapse in September - partly in the hope that they'll let me complete a questionnaire with a "why?" on it.
But, to be fair, I don't have FAST high-speed internet, so I have buffering issues every time I watch something from the library (but not so much with live programming). I also have a non-fan wife who I want to keep happy, so I can't really use their vault of stuff that I'd like to watch if I had nothing else to do.
I may re-subscribe around Royal Rumble if it seems like I'll want to watch the PPVs again, but they have to sell me on the product, not the price.
So, I clicked the renew button on my account and boom, just like that it said I had renewed for 6 months. No 'are you sure' buttons to hit, no cart to review your order.
I figure that was fine whatever, you win this round WWE so I went to turn off automatic renewals while I was there and thinking about it, and that canceled my renewal or extension altogether.
WTF kind of system is this? I take it I have to have auto renewals on to trigger the renewal even though I accepted the renewal then go back after that date and turn it off. Is this how other places run this type of thing?
So, they had me and lost me just like that. Two clicks. I might as well just let it lapse at this point and see if Summer Slam runs as poorly and lags as badly as the last PPV did. Jesus, that's a dumb way to do business.
Originally posted by Tyler DurdenHow does the current product blow? The content is fantastic - especially for just 9.99 (no pun intended).
It depends on your situation.
If I was 26 and single again, and AT&T sold Internet in my area that was fast enough - I could watch the archives with no buffering and I could watch old shows to my heart's content.
I don't have that luxury. I can watch the live events with few buffering/lag issues.
But, the people I'd pay to see are hurt, retired, not being pushed, or being used poorly (mostly). As a result, it's not great for me. I might still watch - but my wife doesn't care for wrestling and I'd rather spend my "watching stuff she doesn't like budget" on college basketball. UK just finished a 6-game tour of the Bahamas and the season starts in October. So, I have to be realistic about my family situation.
WWE sent another breathless reminder that my subscription was expiring tomorrow. Ya know...I never DID get that free week. I wonder if they'll offer me a free week on Monday after I let my sub lapse.
I'm still planning on sitting out a month and waiting for a six month window which will include WrestleMania. It's not like I can't swing the $9.99 ($10.77) but I feel like I want to make this meaningless protest only because I can.
I had the network, and then the F4W/WO breach caused me to have to update my credit card subscriptions, including the network. I do that stuff over my phone, and WWE sent me emails about how they couldn't bill me, and I was going to be cancelled if I didn't update my info.
It got strange when I looked at the email. There was a "click this link to update your info"...and then there was no link. I think it was because I was using my phone, and not a PC that no such link was there (I have an iPhone 5C). I debated going to a PC and updating the info, but my watching of the network had slowed down to the new PPVs and occassional programs. And as someone mentioned above, I also would get buffering issues if I used any device other than my phone with its 4.3 inch screen (the PS3 was my other method of watching the network).
Eventually I let it lapse and I got the cancellation email a few days later. I'm not feeling much withdrawl other than Summerslam night. And with the new lower 12.99 price point for one month deal, I figure I will jump back in when the Royal Rumble draws near.

Got another email from WWE today asking me to resubscribe because I wouldn't want to miss - and I'm using their words here - "the epic rematch of WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena at Night of Champions."

From the emails they've sent me, I'll get my free week at the END of my subscription. Doesn't sound very ethical to me that the TRIAL is at the end, but it's just semantics.
I did the free week. I am kind of surprised I don't get emails from them begging me to subscribe, quite frankly (tm VKM).
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.

Watched the 2 new episodes of The Monday Night War last night on my computer and surprisingly the screensaver did not take over the WWE Network in fullscreen mode. Did they fix this?? Also impressed with Summerslam's streaming (didn't freeze up). I think I'll keep it because those were my 2 main complaints.
I just tried on the laptop and it doesn't appear to be working for me any more. (I now see a "log in" button which...takes me to the exact same page I was on.)
Going to my account page, I now see:
Your subscription to WWE Network has expired. To restart your subscription, please choose from one of the options below.
So now we see if I can hold out until...what, probably six months before WrestleMania?
$9.99 PER MONTH - BILL ME MONTHLY (6-month commitment) $9.99 PER MONTH - BILL ME ALL AT ONCE ($59.94 for 6-month subscription) $12.99 PER MONTH - BILL ME MONTHLY (no commitment; cancel any time)
Am I right in thinking that I can't JUST get six months like I did last time, or would the "bill me all at once" let me have an option to expire? (Or would I have to log in and "change my preferences?")
Anybody who's already done this, how does your account look?
