Well, he says he is just an on screen character and not on the "creative" team in any way, so he can only be as damaging as the current writing. That being said, he very well COULD be a harbinger of the death of WWE. Just like the current writing doing one thing right and two things wrong, Bisch DID push the Cruiserweight division to the popularity it enjoys today, and maybe if he has McMahon's ear, we will see even more CW goodness in the future. I just hope he doesn't have a hand in killing the Women's and Tag divisions like he did in WCW.I don't know if he will attempt to influence writing, but it's possible he has a few good ideas. And just like with Russo, as long as there are some filters in place, he may even be a good thing. So, from a character perspective, it's just another quick fix to desperately win back the wrestling fans of the '90's and provides someone to suck up all the hate.

I guess for historical value (cough), I'll chime in with my opinion on this -
1. How many FREAKING EVIL OWNER/COMMISSIONER/GM angles do we need!? This is the same-old, same-old, retreated crap that's been handed to us for a year or more. So it's Bischoff - it's still the same! Why doesn't Vince come up with a new concept for once? 2. Just what we need: another old, non-wrestler to pop the ratings. GIVE US WRESTLING, DAMN YOU 3. I don't care about angles in which someone may "destroy the company~!" They're stupid, stupid, stupid. Like Vince will purposely kill his company. Why would the fans care about big business decisions anyway? But they WILL care about Jeff Hardy or RVD or Booker or Rock in a high-stakes match.
Pleh. I will wait until Smackdown to see who EVIL OWNER #3459595 is...and I swear to God if it's Stephanie or Dusty Rhodes, I'll say "good night" just like CRZ. Who the hell can blame him?
P.S. I'm not all doom-and-gloom because it's Bischoff...I don't care who is in the angle, I'm just sick of seeing THIS ANGLE over and over again.

If anybody actually *stops watching wrestling* just because of one man, that would be quite sad. I can see where some of you guys hate Eric Bischoff, but do you hate him SO much that you'll give up all the good things about the WWF just because of him? What about Booker T? RVD? Flair? Benoit and Guerrero? You would be that bitter, that jaded over some fat, inconsiquental dipshit like Eric Bischoff? The mute button is there for a reason. Believe me, I'll be using it, because I'll still be watching RAW every week.

I think I will let the angle play out a little before I decide it's the same ol' crap. But then again, I don't have anything against Bischoff, and think he's an effective heel character.
For all those people talking about the crowd being dead, thus Bischoff shouldn't be there...how about we pull Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, and the other 4 guys from that 6-man, and half the rest of the roster too. The crowd was dead most of the night. I don't read anything into crowds anymore. If they can't get into that 6-man or Booker's matches or anything else that's been good...they can go to hell. They pay money to go sit there. Screw the crowd reactions. They don't mean shit.
Bischoff's hiring means one thing, and one thing ONLY.

I agree with Holly. Crowds are so variable (one night goin' nuts, one night sitting on their hands) that one can't read too much into them. The crowd last night wasn't one of the loudest I've heard, but with Uncle E going on and on and on they didn't have much reason to be. The crowd did pop nicely for Lesnar, though. It appears that he is getting over with some of the fan base at least.

You know, I think that crowd was just fine. They were in to it when they should have been. They popped for Jeff's comeback in the six-man (and really, do you actually expect them to be on their feet for Jeff getting his ass kicked?) They were hot for Booker, for Vince, and they were up for the main event. Hell, they even popped for the F5. I think some of us expect *way too much* in terms of crowd heat. Not every match needs to have (or should have) "Dallas RAW Ten Man Heat". And that crowd last night was not even close to a Long Island crowd, which is practically comatose. So, let's not be so critical of the crowds all the time.

I guess it was just me, but last night when that pudgy little guy walked into the frame with Booker T and Coach I thought "GOOD GOD! The new GM of RAW is Rolling Stone Magazine founder and publisher JANN WENNER!!!!
Then I realized it was Bischoff. I guess some folks turn to comfort food when theyr'e not busy running wrestling companies into the ground.
Did anyone else notice that during the Bisch's loooooong promo, he deliberately faced AWAY from the hard camera? This forced them to shoot him with the handheld, and show that the upper decks on that side of the arena were almost empty. His promo went on for so long that I noticed that sort of thing.
That begs the question: Was that something he was TOLD to do, or was Eric going into business for himself with that little trick. It looked to me like the production crew was not prepared for him to do that.
As for SmackDown!'s GM, I hope to hell it's Foley, I expect it to be Dusty Rhodes (which will bore me shitless) and I fear that it will be Stephanie. HBK, I can live with. I hope to be pleasantly surprised.
But for the fun of it, how about ...
Jesse Ventura Hulk Hogan (hey, it'd keep him out of the ring) Randy Savage Ricky Steamboat (you know Vince saw his NWA TNA promo) Jimmy Snuka (the cocaine revelations might have just been a way to offsett that Gold Club stuff) A Drunken Vader Juventude Guerrera Mike Tyson Don King James Gandolfini DDP Steve Borden Gordon Sumner The guy who played sax for the English Beat Carmine Infantino Eddie Offord Izzy Sparber Eddie Jobson Eddie Izzard Don Levine Linda LaHughes
Well, that list sure got silly without getting funny. Sorry about that. Must be Dennis Miller syndrome.
Originally posted by BobHollySTILLRulesMaybe it'll BE Dennis Miller! Those promos would be...interesting.
Y'know...he is out of work now that HBO cancelled his show. You could be onto something there. Hmmm........Nah. Vince is forgiving about a lot of things, but I can't see him shrugging off all those XFL jokes this soon.
From what I've heard and seen, I don't much care for Bischoff. He's cockier than a porn film and just too smug. That being said, it will be interesting to see what he can do under Vince's watchful eye. Eric hasn't had to answer to someone in wrestling before, and it might be good. Mind you, I said might. Also, at least they won't have to work to create believeable tension between the "evil owner/GM" and the wrestlers. I was hoping Meng would run out and demand his belt back. Come on, who wouldn't love to see Bischoff in a Tongan Death Grip, with Meng doing his dance?
All that being said, I vote we wait to see who the Smackdown GM is, then give our "final answer." Who knows, it may work out.

He was holding it too, the crowd was yelling it, and then walks in Eric Bischoff. Darn you Eric Bishoff, for depriving me of my "SUCKA!".
No... you got your Sucka... Booker didn't need to say "Sucka!" because one walked on screen.
