I am so sick of Kane at this point. I missed a few years, but has he ever taken any significant amount of time off since debuting?

Uhhhh, wasn't he just off TV for a significant amount of time between the Wyatt Family "kidnapping" and returning to give his mask to Stephanie? Late August through whenever it was with Stephanie.

Kane was also injured for a while right after the rosters were split in 2002. (I was bummed out about that, since I'd been looking forward to his encore feud with X-Pac at the time.)

Kane also disappeared to do See No Evil 1 when Snitsky crushed his head, and ... whoa, is that it? He tore a bicep in 2002 right when he was supposed to be one of the top babyfaces on split Raw, then returned a few months later with lyrics to his music! I guess this was his longest absence. (oops Dionysus posted this)

Mark Henry HOP'd him for a chunk in 2011 and he came back with the welder's mask.

I think he was also pulled off TV for a couple months when Matt Hardy came back to feud with Edge & Lita to simplify a complicated matter.

It would be a betrayal of character ethos to not do BABYFACE ZEB and the All-American American American. I guess it's already a Twitter feud. They'd lose, of course. By process of elimination (Bryan/Lesnar, Reigns/HHH) it seems bizarrely inevitable that Rusev is being built up for Cena at SummerSlam in the summer version of "huh, Cena/Wyatt??"

I don't have visual confirmation but this one allegedly may, not kidding, go all the way down to either the Raw pregame or the Payback press conference.

I am crossing my fingers so hard right now that Seth Rollins is planning a double-double cross, in order to help Roman Reigns get the belt at Money in the Bank. Number one, it would just be a great angle to run with a fake SHIELD break up and resolution, but most importantly, if it were to play out that way, once again the SHIELD would come out ahead because nobody saw where Seth Rollins was coming from.

I just looked it up and Kane has appeared at the last 11 Wrestlemanias and 16 out of the last 17. To stick around that long and stay healthy is pretty remarkable.

Even more amazing when you take into account he was more or less a throw away character to feed to the Undertaker somewhere along the lines of a Giant Gonzales/Executioner role.

Is Big Show working an injury angle? Is Rey? Wouldn't they want in on that Battle Royal?

Rey still has a hand injury, I think. Show may have been too big a name to be in the battle royal if he wasn't going to win; it was basically a match full of mid-carders and Roman Reigns.

Rollins and, implictly, Ambrose were announced for a second briefcase MITB on Main Event. So you get the luxury prediction variable of the guy who wins the briefcase immediately cashing in on the guy who wins the title match. (Like, say, Rollins on Reigns, except no way do you give Reigns a two minute first title reign.)

I say count being in the Heat match at #19 and give him THE FULL STREAK. I think Triple H could beat him by a couple years but he missed 23 like a chump.

So he wrestled at WrestleMania 19, just not on the PPV part? I'd say that counts.

All the Wrestlemanias after 20 just blur for me.

I'm pretty impressed at Kane's longevity myself, though that means that his backstory is such a convoluted mess it needs a Crisis on Infinite Earths-level retcon to clear it up; I'm sure Dr Unlikely can book us one. Not sure what made him stick around so long, maybe it's his awesome theme music and red lighting, plus the pillars of fire. I admit the first time I really got into Kane's character was when he almost joined D-X, only to get backstabbed before he could switch his bodysuit to green and black.

As for Big Show, I saw him a week or two ago on Smackdown! He wrestled a pretty lousy match against Orton iirc, so he's not injured. They probably figured there were enough big men in the Royale already, and they don't want to take too much away from Cesaro tossing him at Wrestlemania by having Reigns or Rusev do the same thing.

Though let's say Rollins wins the briefcase and Orton wins the belts and Rollins, standing side-by-side with the Authority, suddenly cashes in with Reigns and Ambrose chasing off HHH and Kane...

(I still wouldn't like that if just for the idea of Rollins' attack on Ambrose and Reigns then being retconned as fake, which is always a dangerous thing to do. Also, they are not putting the belts on Seth Rollins, which you can tell because he is not Roman Reigns.)

((I do like Rollins getting into a MITB match, I guess, since Rollins turning on the Shield and then not getting put into the title match automatically as a reward made Rollins look like a complete moron who got nothing out of jumping teams. But he probably still shoulda architected himself into the title match, strictly speaking, to make it really worth his time.))

(((I have no problem with Cena winning if he wins if it's a short term win where Brock kicks his ass at SummerSlam. It's not like Cena is NEVER going to get to add undisputed champion to his resume.)))

If there is any justice in the world, Rusev will wrestle R-Truth and kill him, leading to John Cena vs. Rusev with Cena in R-Truth's ugly pants.

SHIELD TRIPLE CROSS! (Triple-double cross? Double-Triple cross?)

And while I am dreaming, could we get a Dolph Ziggler/Tyler Breeze tag team? They could be the new Hollywood Blonds. You know, from Hollywood, Florida.

Double-Triple-H Cross?

I agree, that would be a fun angle to see played out. Given the small changes they've made to each character, though, I don't think it will happen.

I disagree with CRZ and BigDaddyLoco's contention that the first two matches were worthless based solely on the fact that they ended inconclusively. That wasn't the point. What we got were two great matches featuring four brilliantly talented workers, and it served to further the angle between Rollins and Ambrose, and between Ambrose and The Authority. (For that matter, Barrett has been The Authority's enforcer as of late-- are we gonna see Triple H, Orton, Rollins, and Barrett as the new Evolution?)
