We know what the WWE says was most watched last week, but I am curious what people here watch and how that changes. This might be more of a One Question, but we will see.
Today I watched Halloween Havoc 1996. For those that remember cfgb took us through a large chunk of 96, and since I didn't remember as much as I thought from those reviews I figures is see what happens next.
Started off promising. Rey vs Malenko and Eddie vs DDP were both very strong matches. Then it was nWo time.
Giant vs Jarrett was fair considering who The Giant was at the time. Syxx vs Jericho have done much better. Arm Anderson vs Lex Luger with frizzy hair was awful. The show strangely rebounds thanks to the Faces of Fear and Benoit with McMichaels. Outsiders vs Harlem Heat was very mediocre, but The Outsders were hot. It doesn't carry over that way now.
Hogan vs Savage. I for some reason thought this was going to be a wild brawl. It wasn't. It was a lot of stalling and over booking with a few good spots.
Piper comes out ad kills everything dead by cutting the worst I'm Back promo of all time that Hogan keeps trying to cut short until the show runs out of time. And so it goes for WCW.
Highlights were the first two matches, Dusty Rhodes owning it at the announce table and the Macho Man drawing a winner in some Slim Jim monster truck raffle.
Mmm. We need spell-check in the "thread title" field, if we don't have it already.
Anyway:
My internet is usually nowhere near strong enough to get WWE Network at home; I have to watch it at school or the McDonald's. But I got it really good last night. Therefore...
IT'S CLOBBERING TIME!
I, of course, had already seen the Money in the Bank '11 match in which CM Punk beat Cena for the title, kicked Del Rio in the head, and blew Vince a kiss goodbye while absconding with the championship belt. Hell, I went to a bar and saw it live. Punk talked me into the building. And I have it on DVD.
What I hadn't seen before was the rematch, with Punk defending the WWE Championship against Cena, who was also defending the WWE Championship, at SummerSlam. Something I'd forgotten: Triple H was the special guest referee. I don't think this match was quite as good as the MITB match, but that's a high standard. It was still excellent. And then, of course, "OMG is that Kevin Nash? WTF! Thought he was dead, LOL!" came out, stuck Punk with the powerbomb, and Del Rio won the title.
They played hot potato with the belt for the next couple months, so I skipped ahead to Survivor Series, and watched Punk win the title from Del Rio. (Incidentally, I didn't realize that Punk got Howard Finkel as his special guest ring announcer for that match). Now I'm going through his title defenses.
First up, a triple-threat TLC match against Del Rio and The Miz at Tables, Ladders and Chairs. Even though I knew Punk would retain the title, there were several moments when I was like, "Wow, I can't wait to see how he gets outta this one." Like when Rodriguez handcuffed him to the ladder stabilizer (Punk broke it, and had the handcuffs on for the rest of the match) or when The Miz handcuffed him to the turnbuckle support structure. While Miz and Del Rio were both climbing ladders, Punk was desperately racing against the clock to disassemble the entire thing and free himself. And it worked! That was awesomely dramatic.

I just signed up for my free trial, and I'm starting with Wrestlemania XXX! Time to see Brian's title victory. One problem I have so far though, is the resolution sucks on the website. Is the app any better, or is there a way I can change the resolution on the site? It's really grainy.
EDIT: Wow, having watched it, I can honestly say I wish I'd been able to watch it live. Even with the results spoiled from the top of the card to the main event, it was still an incredible night of matches and unbelievable results. I was able to see pretty much exactly where Taker got his concussion, though he took several more moves that probably scrambled his brains even further. He really put Brock over like a motherfucker, though I'm sure a lot of that was him trying to get his bearings enough to finish the match. He did spend like 10 minutes flat on his back before he finally made it to his feet.
I rather enjoyed a segment I didn't really see anyone discussing after the event; the interview backstage with Hogan, Orndorf, Piper and Mr T. Piper is still awesome as hell, even if he looked like he was trying to give himself a heart attack the way every muscle was straining when he shook T's hand.
The final match was everything it should have been. Tons of false finishes, Stephanie taking a bump she had well deserved after her antics (especially when Big Show was involved in this angle, before he wandered off to do ... not much, really), HHH taking Mjolnir to the face, and the hard-bitten hero struggling up off of the stretcher to provide an amazing end to the match. Even knowing exactly how it would end, I marked out hard when Batista tapped.
Now I need to decide what to watch next. I've been wanting to check out NXT, to say nothing of the ECW archives. Any recommendations?
Originally posted by Guru ZimIt's HD quality for me on my various devices - not sure what you mean by grainy. Are you low bandwidth or using a proxy by any chance?
I think it probably is a bandwidth issue, since I'm on wireless DSL up here. I'm also viewing it on a 47" TV/'monitor', so any pixelization is going to be exacerbated by that.
I was watching Halloween Havoc 1997, but only got to the end of Eddie vs Rey, which is one of my all time favorite matches. I've watched on my phone, a Roku, and my XBox and the picture quality has been good on all of them. Well, as good as you're going to get from a WCW PPV.
I've been using this list but I've been watching the whole show for each of the matches. I started with Money in the Bank 2011, which was a pretty great card. Then I watched In Your House: Badd Blood for Shawn/Taker Hell in the Cell. I'd forgotten that was the post-Brian Pillman dies show, so that added some weirdness that I wish wasn't there. (Although IJ still walks around the house randomly going "WE ARE THE NATION...OF DOMINATION," so that's pretty cool.
Currently I'm watching WM13, which is VERY weird in that it was just a few months before Badd Blood, but the Attitude Era seems like it totally hadn't kicked into gear yet as Rock and HHH were still Rocky Maivia and Hunter Hearst Helmsley. Summerslam 94 is up next in the queue.
Also, IJ and I are watching Extreme Rules 2009. There was some...not good...stuff on that show.
And Vince McMahon was a TERRIBLE announcer.

I watched Starcade 83 this week thiking that I would start going through old PPVs chronologically but after realizing how time consuming that would be I might just start watching some old PPVs from whatever month it currently is. I'll just stick to old 80s/90s ones as more current stuff doesn't inteerest me all that much anyway. Of course I will watch the "special events" live as they happen each month moving forward.
Previous to that I watched Wrestlemania I-VI to get ready for WM XXX. I had seen them all before but it had been so long I had forgotten how many pointless four minute matches they would squeeze onto some of those early ones. Really interesting to watch them back to back to see how they evolved and became more polished even in those early years.
I would like to start watching the WCCW shows in order as I have never seen any of that stuff outside of hghlights here and there, but it seems like they have gaps between shows which bugs me. Maybe after they fill in the gaps I will start on that.
Other than that I watch NXT weekly and have watched the first episode of Legends House. I did the Warrior Week stuff but by the time it got to the round table one at the end of the week I was burned out on it and it was getting redundant (the documentary was great though).
Just so much stuff to watch that it is overwhelming. And the scary part is that there is still so much that they can add. I would love to have all the old Clash of the Champions shows to watch at some point.
Oh, and I would appreciate it if they added a queue option as well as recently watched ala Netflix. I hate scrolling back through all the PPVs to find the one I was just watching since I usually don't do them all in one sitting. Other than that it's been working beautifully on my PS4 and I love it.
Currently watching WrestlePalooza '98, and man, was RVD ever amazing in his prime. I know 16 years have passed, but it still astounds me how much better he was in the ECW days. Makes me sad that he's never really had great luck with other promotions. If the InVasion storyline hadn't been so gods-awfully bungled, he might be a top carder in the WWE by now.
I agree that RVD was great 16 years ago. The problem with him is that he hasn't added one new move to his arsenal ever since. He didn't evolve one bit.

Other than the VanTerminator (which is only really useable in no-DQ matches), yeah, you're right there. Plus the fact that his offense is dependent on him being fast and light on his feet, and he certainly hasn't gotten any younger. That, combined with the injuries that a high-flying style is prone to and years of being squandered in WWE and TNA, has left RVD a shadow of what he was in ECW. Ah well, at least with Network we can go back and watch the amazing matches he had with Sabu, Jerry Lynn and all the rest.
I just watched the end of Elimination Chamber '14 (I'm skipping around a lot, chronologically), and man, whether they meant to or not, they really told one hell of a story with Bryan's nearly year-long title chase. Pretty much every time Bryan showed Orton just couldn't beat him without interference, but kept getting screwed by Kane, the Authority, the Wyatts, or whoever else they could throw in his way. Feels a little odd watching the payoff before the build-up, tho.
Last night, I caught the next three CM Punk title defenses: A match v. Dolph Ziggler at Royal Rumble '12, the Elimination Chamber match v. Ziggler, Jericho, The Miz, R-Truth and Kofi Kingston, and the WrestleMania XXVIII match against Jericho.

I decided to watch some late WCW because a lot of it is blurry and I thought it would be fun to watch the trainwreck. And it didn't disappoint. First match was Lieutenant Loco (Chavo) of the Misfits in Action vs. Disco Inferno of the Filthy Animals....excuse me HIP HOP Inferno.
The Mamalukes (PAESANS!) and Kronik got about 9 minutes for some reason. This was during the new blood era so we get Mike Awesome vs. DDP, Shane Douglas vs. the Wall, Kidman vs. Hogan, Booker vs. Stan Stasiak and Sting vs. Vampiro in a set your opponent on fire match. Plus, Kevin Nash vs. Jeff Jarrett for the title. Very bad times, but kind of fun to watch now.

Bravo, excellent and bold choice. I've been tempted to go this route, but usually talk myself out of it with something else.
What was the best match on the card? I'm guessing Awesome vs DDP, but could be dead wrong on that.
Yes, DDP and Awesome was the best match. It was a decent brawl. I also forgot Ric Flair vs. David Flair was on the card and I forgot to say what the actual show was, Great American Bash '00.
After that I also watched Mayhem '00. Another really bad card except for 3 Count vs. Jung Dragons vs. Karagias/Noble (Not the ladder match they had at StarrCade but still very good)
I started browsing this section of WCW, and for some reason Sid vs Scott Hall vs Jeff Jarrett for the World Title caught my eye. I don't remember this happening. Did I block this out?
I had a half hour to kill, so this was how I was going to spend it. The match was maybe eight minutes, all of them pretty terrible, about five or six ref bumps, Roddy Piper, guitar shots and Vince Russo's stank.
Sid was the face, but the crowd was in favor of the shell formerly known as Scott Hall. This probably should have been Hall's moment to run with the ball, but we all know you can't trust Scott Hall as the face of the company so Sid wins.
I don't think I will go back and watch the rest of the card since it looks really bad, except maybe old Flair vs old Funk.
On a side note I really liked this era of Jeff Jarrett.
