Notes I made while watching NXT:

Rarely seen NXT GM JBL strips Paige of the NXT title, as it is unfair to NXT for Paige to hold the title while she will be travelling the world defending the Divas title. There will be a tournament for it.

Lana introduces Alexander Rusev, who defeats Travis Tyler with the Accolade.

Devin Taylor interviews Adam Rose at a backstage party. He has two words for Camacho, calling him a Party Pooper, and also boring. Camacho, don't be a lemon. Be a rosebud.

Charlotte & Sasha Banks vs. Emma and her mystery parter, Paige.
Charlotte pins Paige after her finisher. Jason Albert called it the "We've seen that before!" and "You know it's a good move if you don't know what to call it!"

Tyson Kidd pins Mason Ryan after a neckbreaker from the top rope.

Angelo Dawkins (wearing a backpack, headphones, sunglasses, baseball cap and plaid shirt) dances to the ring, and is pinned by Tyler Breeze after the Beauty Shot.

Corey Graves and the Konnor & Viktor The Ascension (NXT Tag Team Champions) vs. Sami Zayn & The Usos (WWE Tag Team Champions)
Whichever Uso pins Corey Graves with a splash from the top rope. This was taped prior to The Usos getting their large chest tattoos.

So is Dawkins' gimmick "wear the stuff Percy Watson left behind"?

The JBL/Paige intro was taped Monday, leading to some awkward editing in the Divas tag match.

"Who will Emma's partner be?"
*commercial break*
*back with match in progress*
"And it looks like it's gonna be Paige teaming with Emma!"

Everything is awesome.

Charlotte is growing quickly in all areas. Whoever is training the girls in developmental must be as sick at most of the current main show Diva talent as the rest of us. She even performed her first televised Flair Flop. She is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine.

The main event was really great. It's was nice to see The Uso's coming to visit with some NXT talent. I especially like the Hogan Double Noggin Knocker spot turned into a dancing sell by Jimmy and Jey. Canadians can't dance or at least Sami's many talents isn't particularly in that venue.

Seeing as Ecks started the thread this week I can primarily focus on my pure hatred for Angelo Dawkins blindingly stupid "Swag" dancing black man gimmick. I'm gonna reveal too much but there is no gimmick that I have as much disdain for than when a black man comes in and his gimmick is "Fun-loving black guy who likes to dance". I won't accuse Creative, HHH or Vince for thinking making KoKo B. Ware/Slick again for 2014 a racist move. It's just a tired move much like making the evil non-english speaking foreign monster heel.

If we were finally able to graduate past the "Samoan Savage" character into the evolved personalities like Reigns, Usos, and Tamina I think WWE needs to never make the dancing black guy gimmick EVER again. It never got any guy to the main, just ask Flash Funk, Koko, R-Truth, Xavier Woods, hell Too Cool's gimmick was dancing wiggas and I have to look up if they ever won the tag titles.

For his sake Dawkins better pray daily for a gimmick change or pitch some ideas to creative.

Yeah, R-Truth did his best WWE work as a psychotic Angry Black Man heel. As a face again, he's dialed down the crazy and is far less entertaining.

I read this more as "hipster DJ," but I still see your point. I'm sort of willing to let it go until we learn if there's anything more to his character, but as it stands you're absolutely right.

As for things I liked on NXT, I'm super excited about the women's title tournament. The winner is almost certainly going to be Charlotte, but they could be hiding someone else on the roster that I don't know about yet. Right now, the only women I know are Charlotte, Sasha, Bayley, and I guess Emma. Four is hardly a tournament, but I'd make do with that field.

I really hope it's not Charlotte. She has a long way to go yet, from what I've seen. Bayley is far better. I even think Sasha Banks is better than Charlotte. Charlotte needs another year yet.

Of course having said all that, she'll now win the title.

Whoah really? To me Charlotte seems way more prepared than Sasha Banks. She has a good snap to her moves, has facial expressions down. Banks often looks kind of tentative in there and can be seen smiling at inappropriate times (to be fair Paige and Emma are guilty of this sometimes too).

When Charlotte debuted I rolled my eyes at yet more WWE-Legend-Nepotism but I've totally changed my mind about her. She has a good size, actually involves her gymnastic abilities in ways that make sense.

I look at her as one of the best NXT prospects now.

Not sure if you ever heard of Sara Del Ray, but she's the one training the ladies at NXT.

They taped the block of TV covering the quarterfinals and semifinals. I'm not going to spoil the results, but the schedule is

05/01 show
Sasha Banks vs Bayley
Natalya vs Layla

05/08 show
Charlotte vs Emma
Alexa Bliss (debut) vs Alicia Fox

05/15 show
winner of Charlotte/Emma vs winner of Bliss/Fox

05/22 show
winner of Sasha/Bayley vs winner of Natalya/Layla

05/29
Live NXT Special with the tournament finals.

There will also be an NXT (Men's) Championship match on 05/29.

Totally forgot that it's her. Many people complained about her being an offscreen trainer as opposed to onscreen talent but she has been doing great work with NXT Divas. Once Charlotte, Bayley, and maybe 2 to 3 other women join Aj, Natalya, Emaa, and Paige on the main shows. With some real effort put into their angles and character development, this company could really make another golden era in Women's wrestling.

Was also interesting to see the last of NXT Lana vs the RAW Lana we've been seeing. Just in how much they upgraded her wardrobe, hair, etc..

I agree that Bayley is better in the ring, but having the heel win the tournament and then doing a chase with Bayley seems like better booking to me.
