OK, went to Wrestlemania last Sunday but I should be here for the rest of the season.

Show starts off with some girl running away from Ramsey, Reek, and Myranda. They eventually caught her and because Myranda was a little jealous of her looks, she wanted to shoot an arrow at her face. Ramsey lets the dogs attack her since they did most of the work. Roose Bolton is back and reveals his plan to trade Theon back to the Greyjoys but this isn't going to work now as Theon is no longer whole. In order to prove how loyal Theon/Reek is, Ramsey orders him to shave him and drop the bomb that Robb Stark is dead. Reek does not slice Ramsey's throat from that bit of news. Ramsey tells his dad that Bran and Rickard are still alive and Theon burnt up some farm kids instead. Roose sends out men to find the last Stark boys. Theon suggests that they might be heading towards the Wall because Jon Snow is there.

Back at King's Landing, Tyrion meets up with Varys who informs him that Cercei is aware of Shae's relationship with Tyrion. Tyrion wanted Varys to lie about it but Varys was not about to mess with Tywin Lannister. Tyrion meets up with Shae and tells her he can't marry or have kids with a whore and breaks up with her so Bronn can put her in a ship and away from King's Landing.

Back to Stannis Baratheon... he and Melisandre are burning 3 guys alive. I guess they wouldn't give up the idea of the 7 gods. There's only 2 gods, the god of Light and the evil god and they are always at war. There's only one hell... and we are living in it. One of the guys they burnt was his brother-in-law.

Back to the royal wedding between Margaery Tyrell and Joffrey Baratheon. Tyrion gives him a book of the last 4 kings.. a must read. Joffrey was surprising nice about it. Then his Grandfather gave him a sword made of valyrian steel(he melted Ned Stark's giant Final Fantasy sword and made 2 - one for Jaimie and one for Joffrey). Joffrey took the sword and chopped the shit out of the book and wish he could cut Ned Stark's head off... all in front of Sansa.

Margaery and Joffrey are married without a hitch. Cut to the reception. Joffrey gets really annoyed by the wedding band, and instead introduces the midgets to reenact the war between Joffrey, Stannis, Robb Stark, etc. Robb's midget wore a direwolf head and was beheaded... all in front of Sansa again. No one was laughing except Joffrey and Cercei. Joffrey tries to make fun of Tyrion but Tyrion told everyone how Joffrey did not even partake in the war and he was a first hand witness. Joffrey pours his wine on Tyrion's head. Then he makes Tyrion is cup bearer.... making him fetch him more wine. Tyrion and Sansa tries to sneak away while Joffrey was eating pie but Joffrey once again forced him to get him more wine. Then he tried to get Tyrion to kneel before him while serving him wine but starts choking. Cercei and Jaimie rushes towards Joffrey and Joffrey dies. Someone had poisoned the wine and all signs point to Tyrion. Cercei orders the guards to arrest Tyrion.

Other things that happened:
- Jaimie tries to threaten Ser Loras Tyrell about marrying his sister and Loras zings him back about how he can't marry her, either.
- Cercei has a chat with Brienne about how Brienne is in love with Jaimie. Uhh... Brienne had no comeback to that.
- Grandmaster Pycelle tries to mack on one of Cercei's maidens. Cercei's tells him to go feed the leftovers to the kennels even though Margaery had already stated leftovers will be given to the poor. Cercei's the queen, dammit.
- Bran, who looks like he is 25 already, finds a weird tree with a face on it. When he touches it, his eyes rolled back and he sees a bunch of visions of 3 eyed ravens and maybe Ned Starks. He tells his crew he knows where to go now.
- Bronn teaches Jaimie how to fight with his left hand. Funny story about how Bronn brought a knight's wife to that location and she was a screamer and no one heard her so they are safe... no one will hear Jaimie.

Man, if it weren't for lotjx, I may not have watched this episode. Thanks so much for the year-long hype!

The reception took up all of the last thirty minutes. Brutally tense the entire time. Almost like I was expecting something big to happen. The War of the Five Kings "re-enactment" was so fricking evil.

Are we to make something of the shot of Sansa handing the goblet to Tyrion underneath the table?

Not going to lie, I did a big Daniel Bryan YES YES YES YES when that little shit died. As satisfying as it would've seen to see him snivel and grovel at, say, Sansa's feet before being beheaded, having him choke and die after a simple glass of wine is still fine. Of course, this seemingly leaves Tyrion completely screwed, yet one would think Tywin (despite his hatred for his youngest son) would be logical enough to see that it was someone else.

This makes Robert/Cersei's second son the king now, right? This is the one who was sitting so nicely at the head table during the wedding and (by all accounts) is actually a kind child, so he'll be essentially a complete figurehead in front of Tywin. Also, was it just Joffrey who was the product of incest, or all of Cersei's children?

Of note....Melisandre's curse was against Joffrey, Renly, Robb and the elder Greyjoy, right? Well, it's got a pretty high batting average right now, so there might well be a changing of the guard at the Iron Islands coming soon.

Not sure who Ramsey's hunting partner was, Bolton's (legitimate) daughter? It's creepy how the Boltons are turning into the evil mirror of the Starks....you have the 'lord of the north' Roose, the bastard son and now this daughter who's like an evil Arya. The other commonality is that both have Theon in their fold, though the Boltons actually treat him like a slave whereas the Starks were more welcoming.

Based on Ned's research in Season 1, all of Robert's kids have black hair. I'm fairly certain all of Cercei's kids are Jaimie's.

There's no doubt that all Cercei's children are incest babies. Tommen Baratheon, Joff's younger brother, will now be the king of the Iron Throne. And yes he's a nice, normal boy.

Regarding Myranda and Ramsey on the hunt, Myranda's wiki indicates that she was one of the two women in the torture chamber with Theon/Reek. The other woman was named Violet and that is who they were hunting because Myranda was jealous of her.

Re: Melisandre's curse. She did Renly in with the smoke monster that looked like Stannis and then threw three slugs into the fire to represent Robb, Joff and Balon Greyjoy. I noticed with the season 3 recaps, they didn't mention that. I think they wanted us to forget about that scene so we'd be more shocked when Joffrey died. Yeah, I don't think things are looking so good for Balon if 2 out of 3 in the "curse" have bitten it.

The reception was pretty great. Lots of stuff going on there and I think we have a "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" type of intrigue going on. Also of note, Ser Dontos (the jester) grabbed Sansa in the confusion and is promising to keep her safe.

I think that was to show that she's coming around on the idea of being married to him.

The best part of the wedding (besides Joffrey dying, obv.) was Joffrey's spit-take during the war reenactment. You'd think this would be the last show that would use a spit-take, but there it was. So good.

Not going to lie, though, I'm going to miss Joffrey. Jack Gleeson really knocked it out of the park.

I don't know about coming around to the idea of marrying Tyrion but there at least seems to be some sympathy on Sansa's part.

The casting for this show is so great. I love the actor they got to play Prince Oberyn.

Really great episode and the visual of him dying was awesome too.
ALmost like he turned into a wraith or something.
I'd burn that body quickly if I were them

While I'm not sure that Tyrion did it (this is not his type of thing) it sure looks that way. He had the reason and he held the smoking gun before AND after, so to say.
Sansa gave it, but Joffrey drank a sip or two already and seemed okay.
No, my money is on the Tyrell's. He put down the cup, in front of Marjerie and her grandma, gets it back a minute later and starts to choke. Nice power play to get the crazy king out of the way.

The zinger from Loras to Jaimie was awesome.
The Roose family is just fucking nuts.
And Brann is still traveling. Ugh. But now he knows where. To the North (weren't they already doing that)
I did like the tree-vision though. There was also the shot of a dragon's shadow over a city (but is it future or past?) and definitely some Ned Stark in there.

That is the conclusion that I came to as well. Tyrion is too smart to poison his nephew and then go pick up the goblet and to be standing there red-handed. Despite his hatred for his nephew I think he was genuinely trying to figure out what happened. This definitely seems like Oberyn getting revenge Elia's death.

The Stark kids all look like they're getting way too old way too fast. Bran looks like he's about to release a solo album after his stint fronting The White Stripes.

Joffrey got off easy. I was really hoping that he would never be killed, but live out his life either in prison or suffering some other despicable fate as his penance. I don't really feel like Tywin is the proper heavy - he's not a great guy, but he's no Joffrey - so I'm not sure where they go to from here.

In the Seven Kingdoms, poison is regarded as a weapon used by women and bastards.

I prefer Joffrey being poisoned and dying like that opposed to being tortured like Theon or even imprisoned. If the latter two had happened then we might start to feel sympathy for the character.

The Bran tree visions were great and it makes me hopeful for more visions in future episodes that can act as flashbacks that give us more clues. Also, even though they are north of the Wall, if you look at maps of Westeros there is still a lot more to travel north of the Wall.

My money is definitely on Grandma Tyrell as the one calling the shots behind Joffrey's demise and I think Tyrion now knows it. That look they exchanged as he reached for the goblet wasn't there for filler.

I am looking forward to the battle between Cercei & Marjerie for the crown. Joffrey & Marjerie never did consumate the marriage if that means anything in this world.

And I think that dragon shadow in Bran's vision is of things to come. We still have 2 more seasons after this one for The Mother of Dragons to come home for her Iron Throne.

I don't think Margery has any claim on the crown, regardless of whether or not the marriage was consummated. After all, Cercei was queen, and she didn't get the throne when King Robert died. For that reason, it doesn't make much sense to me that a Tyrell would have done it. If she would become queen, then, yes, absolutely. But that doesn't fit with what we know.

However, this was a political marriage.
The Lannisters need house Tyrell since they're a major player.
So with good old Joffrey dead that doesnt mean that need is suddenly gone.
And there's a perfectly fine boy next in line (btw, Tommen grew like crazy, possibly replaced by another actor?) and since Margery is "still unspoiled" she can just be passed on to the next in line, right?

Yes, Tommen was re-cast. The actor that is Tommen this season was actually one of the Lannister cousins that were killed last season.

Sorta kinda. I must say I am enjoying all the speculation about who killed J.B. I am curious to see how the rest if the rest of the season goes into book four or just does some extra stuff.

Been a while since I read the books, and I am not watching the show...yet. But in the books, did Ramsay ever know that Theon faked killing Bran and Rickon? I don't remember that.

My recollection is...

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
I believe that, at the time Theon took Winterfell, Ramsey was disguised as the original Reek in order to avoid execution and may have even suggested the ruse of executing Bran and Rickon stand-ins to Theon.

You mean you forgot this one very minor detail in the 19,000 pages of text that make up the first five books? FOR SHAME!

(I've wikipedia'd everything so many times, I couldn't tell you if I remember it from the books or from reading the summaries to keep up with the show...)
