I'm glad I was wrong about face Shield. If they only wanted to build Roman Reigns into a star, then yeah, break them up, but they're actually being smart by allowing Rollins and Ambrose to do their thing and bring them along for the ride with Reigns.

Ambrose, of course, doesn't need it and I still think he's the standout star, the possible next Roddy Piper or CM Punk, in their midst. It's still clear any time all three of them get to speak that Ambrose is able to steer things back to show that he's the really awesome one. Not that Reigns or Rollins are all that bad necessarily.

Between them and Cesaro, it's going to be a really interesting year to see where they're going to be on the card by WrestleMania 31.

Paige is great in the ring. She's been in at least two matches that I've watched on NXT and been legitimately captivated by. That said, WWE doesn't usually allow Divas the same time they get on NXT, nor do they even really work the same style, so it's hard to say how she will come across on WWE TV.

But, then again, maybe her winning the belt is a signal that they're getting more serious about the Divas division. I think if her and AJ had a match at Extreme Rules, and were given time, they could really turn the tide for "Divas" wrestling.

WOW. That's actually really impressive. I don't think I've ever even SEEN that move before. I REALLY want these two girls to work a program in WWE now ... and for Booking to actually give them time to put on a good show. And maybe Paige can figure out why her timing's off with AJ. Because had she slapped AJ in a goddamn SCORPION CROSSLOCK, nobody would be thinking she was a noob who got lucky.

While I'm super pleased that Paige got called up (and won the title!), that debut was terrible. I realize they don't HAVE to stick with what's been established in NXT, but she's been built up as such a badass there. It made no sense for her to come out and meekly congratulate AJ. (Botching the finish didn't help.) The hot crowd saved it, for sure.

I think they missed a golden opportunity to have AJ out celebrating, only to be interrupted by Bad News Barrett. "Congratulations on 295 days, AJ! That's a huge accomplishment...but I'm afraid I have some BAD NEWS." Hit Paige's music, referee slides in, title match (actual match, not fluke), title change. Then you could have a casual alliance between the two Brits.

I'm a huge fan of NXT. The company is actively encouraging people to watch it. They should reward those people with well thought out debuts. If NXT really is their minor leagues, then getting called up to the show should be treated like a big deal, ala Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, Yasiel Puig, etc. (And for the love of God, please put some distance between NXT and John "Oh yeah, I'm the GM of NXT. I forgot!" Leyfield.)

On another NXT note, I was wondering why Adam Rose and Bo Dallas were getting the call up over favorites like Zayn, Neville, and the Ascension. Then I realized those two guys have been in developmental FOREVER. Might as well fish or cut bait.

Other than that complaint (which only stems from being a big NXT fan), this was a super fun show. I hope the energy carries on for a while.

WWF gets zero credit for Austin/McMahon since the original plan for Wrestlemania 14 was Austin vs. Bret, plus Vince only got over from the real life fan anger over Montreal.

brother lot, the "WWE is the living incarnation of Silent Hill" schtick is money, because it takes all kinds in this business, but if you want to keep up your momentum, I think you need to take a page from the benevolent star-maker Triple H's book and actually sell some losses once in a while. Your Wrestlemania predictions were 100% wrong and all we got was "Bryan won after a bunch of bullshit, he'll drop it to Orton on Raw" and then a doubling down on how we're all gonna die some day.

I figure because they're saving the real match for after the shocking upset, they did just a tiny angle of a match with only two moves, and unfortunately one of them was mistimed. (I thought by AJ more than Paige, but impossible for me to know.) Plus, she's 21 and made her Raw debut winning the championship the day after Wrestlemania in front of the craziest crowd of the year, so if she was debilitatingly nervous I'd understand.

AJ doing a full-on CM Punk "for _ hundred and __ days"-counting, best in the world promo was something else, by the way. Looks like her engagement ring is a permanent gimmick as well.

She loved it from bell-to-bell. She even got in on the Hulk Hogan jabs, but not for the Silverdome/Superdome screw-up.

She totally thought the Pedigree finished Bryan in the HHH match, so she already emotionally went up-and-down through that match. She loved the Shield crushing Kane/NAO, as she's totally gone all-in on the Shield since about when they started in with the Wyatts.

Then, she took a shower during the Battle Royal (she'd had two games of soccer that day) but caught Cesaro's slam of the Big Show on her phone.

John Cena/Bray Wyatt...this was something else. She was rooting for Cena to go all-in...hit Wyatt with the stairs...bust Wyatt with the chair. She actually yelped a little when Bray did the bridge to counter the pending Five Knuckle Shuffle. And then Bray kicked out of the AA...

...but she was overjoyed when Cena won, obviously.

Generally IJ and I watch Raw a little at a time during the week, so I refrain from posting in the Raw threads because my comments wouldn't be timely. If I *had* posted in the Raw thread when they set-up Taker/Brock, it would've said "IJ thinks Brock might actually beat Taker...that's so cute LOL." She was as super-stunned as everyone when the ref counted 3, but for her it was just A Thing That Happened, not ZOMGENDOFTHEWORLD.

IJ's Divas Power Rankings are (1) Brie, (2) Nikki, (3) AJ, (4) Natalya. I don't question these things. You would think that the Bellas squaring off would've been more shocking, but she got over that quickly and was happy to see AJ win. (She was even OK with Paige taking the title off AJ last night.)

Then Daniel Bryan jumped on the Authority and they left and it was great. THEN Randy and Dave put Bryan on the stretcher and, like I said, just quiet sobbing and wiping the tears away with her John Cena wristbands. And I said "are you crying?" and I was HOPING that it was going to finally go down like it did. When Randy RKOed Batista she was POSITIVE Randy was winning. The last thing she expected was Bryan ultimately pulling it out, so she was naturally overjoyed when he did.

So her first live WWE experience was the "Hijack Raw"-Raw, which was great. Her first live PPV experience was the Royal Rumble which had all her guys lose AND Bryan not be in the Rumble, so that was subpar but she enjoyed the whole thing. And then Mania could not have been better from bell-to-bell. Just an A+ to the WWE for all that.

Holy fuck shit motherfucker shit. Read comics. Fuck shit shit fuck shit I sold out when I did my job. Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck. Sorry had to do it....

I can't remember the last time I've ever heard Rey Mysterio booed, let alone ever.

Post-Wrestlemania crowds are always insane and fun to watch.

I think he got booed at the Rumble by virtue of not being Daniel Bryan, and this week he drew the straw of having to go up against Bad News Barrett, who apparently gained a MASSIVE face following while he was injured and doing his schtick. Still, you could tell he was befuddled by suddenly finding people booing the 619 and cheering when he got painfully crotched going for a high risk move. Poor Rey Rey. He doesn't deserve Cena heat.

I was kinda surprised to see Sheamus and Big E get booed as well, though Big E at least is a recently converted heel.

Cena will literally dance around the ring after he beats the entire Wyatt family in a rather brutal and short fansion.

Got that right. I don't think Austin runs with the ball if Bret and HBK are there. They are very lucky Shawn got hurt and Bret got the boot. Attitude Era was also fun. It had a sense of joy and a bit of danger. This journey has not been fun. I am cautiously optimistic it will be fun, but with HHH there I don't know how long it will last. Perhaps enjoying is what we should all do. I just don't think it will last as long as everyone thinks.

People are pissed about the Streak. I know that doesn't translate here, but the amount of casual fans who I never knew were wrestling fans blew up at that. Even when I am say "Well, Bryan." "Yeah, thats ok." People are undervaluing what Taker and that Streak meant. Heyman can cut fantastic promos for the smarks here and at Raw about it. Yet, I got a feeling when Mania comes around next year, you will be surprised how little interest there is outside our little world.

Interesting. I watched the ESPN E:60 promo for WrestleMania on SportsCenter on Saturday (big oops: going back to the anchor who said "Order now and you can watch WM tonight at 7:00 PM") and not a single moment was about The Streak.

I think you're just looking for things to be pissy about. People enjoyed the string of great UT matches, sure, but for it to seriously impact interest in WM in the future? VERY very doubtful. People knew UT was in the last gasp of his career -- him winning or losing before retiring wouldn't mean a damn thing for next year other than "UT isn't at WM." And hell, for all we know this rumored retirement isn't going to happen until he comes back at WM31 to avenge the one loss in a specially hyped retirement match against Lesnar.

I honestly hope not, because he looked like a boiled chicken out there. He doesn't have the mass he used to and that mohawk look only made him appear smaller in the head and neck.

That you think this is true is great. Please tell my wife that just pulling it out in 23 minutes is short and brutal.

Jon Stewart notwithstanding, I think the streak means far more to devoted WWE fans than casual fans. Undertaker's streak matches were for the wrestling audience while Rock drew the house. Wrestlemania won't be the same without it, but, uh, he can't wrestle any more and he wanted to lose. What's the alternative? Second Undertaker? Stem cells? Ringing the bell while he has Lesnar in the gogoplata and making him win?

I'm only going to do this once, because you do not deserve it, and then leave our friendship behind forever.

Great, great Raw. As others have said, this is as optimistic as I've been about the future of WWE in a long time. Some Raw-specific thoughts:

Rob Van Dam's return has been completely lost in the shuffle. That's why I'm glad a guy like Sting didn't debut here because another memorable moment would've been shoved in the background for that.

I've seen people speculating about this, not so much here but elsewhere, as far as A.J. being "punished" for being with Punk by having her lose her title to Paige. I know she and Punk just got engaged, but if they wanted to punish her for being with Punk, I don't think they would've waited 2 1/2 months to get the belt off of her especially when they had so many opportunities.

I get that The Authority is inextricably tied in with the Daniel Bryan story, but I too am of the hope that they extricate themselves somehow and let Bryan do his own thing with new opponents. To have The Authority continue to lord over Bryan's reign and have the idea, "will they screw him again?" play in the back of everyone's mind all the time isn't a good thing. I'd rather Bryan defend the title against worthy challengers in matches that have storylines of their own. I acknowledge that Hunter and Steph have been good in their roles, and that it doesn't make sense for them to just "back away" now that Bryan has won, but maybe they can get side-tracked with something else for a while - like, The Shield deal.

The opening video package was just fantastic. One of their best, and that's saying something. I kinda thought they'd do Bryan vs. Orton last night, since Orton has a claim to a rematch because he didn't get pinned/submit in the Triple Threat (and we don't need to see Bryan vs. Orton on another "special"). Batista I guess could argue, as he has, that he deserves another chance because his expectation was that by winning the Rumble, he'd get a one-on-one title shot.

Lawler has gotten so lazy he's not even bothering with punchlines to some of his jokes (Erick Rowan being banned from the zoo). When I saw the Adam Rose vignette, I thought it was a quick promotion given the recent introduction of the character, and how Leo Kruger is probably thinking, "why couldn't I have gotten this gimmick three years ago!" I also think it would've been cool to debut him here, as his character would fit with the party atmosphere.

When Warrior came out, I figured there was some poor PA behind the scenes trembling at the idea of having to hand the Warrior his script for his promo. Lots of good signs on the night, but I liked Sign Guy with the Hulk Hogan Cue Card of the location when Hogan came out.

I think the too-subtle innuendo was supposed to be the joke, but the other guy didn't get it and asked for the punchline. Lawler was caught off-guard.

I actually thought that segment was where they might introduce Sting, something like just coming out on the stage to applaud his former tag-team partner.

Thanks for reminding me of this as I loved every minute of it! Much like your earlier point, they were booed simply because they were not the Wyatt Family. When ERICK F'N ROWAN is getting cheered for his offense, this is a special night. My youngest is going to love watching this match.

It was nice to see some NXT faces being brought up to the main roster. I've watched NXT since the beginning, and I know not everyone on there can break out to the main roster.

Paige is pretty great, but as soon as AJ said the title was on the line, I knew what was going to happen. Then they botched the Paige Turner, and it just looked bad. I love women's wrestling, and unfortunately WWE tends to fill the roster with a lot of talentless eye candy. Paige and AJ are decent wrestlers. I want to see wrestling. Emma is decent too.

Adam Rose (formerly Leo Kruger) only changed gimmicks about a month ago. He's a solid worker, and I guess they are happy with him practicing the gimmick so far on NXT. It's fun, but one of those things with a limited life. How they turn his character from comedy to serious wrestling will be interesting.

Bo Dallas is good at the annoying heel who thinks he's a face.

Yup, it was a "we boo because you're not a Wyatt" type of response.
When they did their cool spots the crowd did cheer (or chant along with Sheamus, etc)
When Big E kept Rowan in his arms for the triple backbreaker thing, he got cheers as he went on.
Then boos right after. Fun stuff
Sheamus seemed to revel in it too.
