Okay, so TheSmarks "fired" him (I always get a chuckle whenever wrestling web sites talk about firing someone, as if Scott Keith called him into his office and handed him a pink slip) ... Has he popped up on any other sites yet?

What forced them to give him the boot anyway ... His constant references to hanging out at gay bars? A bad review of "WWF Raw" for the XBox? A return of his "special" burrito (from the XWrestling.Com days)? What?

(I'd like to say that CRZ was fortunate to leave ezboard when he did. I visit a couple of other ezboards, including the Smarks Forum on rare occasion, and ezboards seem to be losing posts.)

I don't know about this whole deal. Scotsman "leaves" the net an awful lot and it would be Smarky! to work the net or some shit by doing a "Scotsman gets fired" angle.

He hasn't done anything in spectacularly bad taste lately, so it must just be a built up situation.

If he is, however, fired for "hurting and/or offending" Smarks readers I have some questions:

What whiny bitches are in the Smarks readership? This is the second time a Smarks "writer" has been "fired" for offensive comments. Yes, Eric S. was a bit over the line, gloating over the death of a political figure he didn't like, but I don't think the comments would have even raised eyebrows had the figure not died in the September 11 attacks. Scotsman didn't even come near either of the lines Eric S. crossed.

Didn't Scott (or whoever brought Scotsman on) know what Scotsman's material consisted of? As an avid reader of Xwrestling.com (or Wrestling Uncensored as it was better known) I was happy to see Scotsman's return to the "Net Wrestling Scene" and I knew exactly what to expect in his columns; I would have also been less likely to read his columns if they were just the usual recaps/news/opinion pieces. This also raises another question: if Scott (or whoever brought Scotsman on) didn't know what to expect, why did they "hire" him? This raises yet another question: do they make it a habit of "hiring" based on blind faith?

Finally, are they falling for the "Stern-effect?" This is actually a common effect, but I call it the "Stern-effect" because it's been most widely seen with Howard Stern's radio broadcasts. What happens is that a handful of people hear it and are offended, but it just so happens that those people are the ones that take time to write letters. The content host (theSmarks.com in this case; the FCC was Stern's problem) sees that there are all these "offended listeners/viewers/readers" and acts on that. Nevermind all of the listeners/viewers/readers that aren't offended and are actually entertained by the content provider (Scotsman) that don't take the time to tell the content host how much they love the show by writing a personal letter; the entertained readers might outnumber the offended readers 20 to 1, but the squeaky wheel gets the oil and Scots gets the heave-ho.

Hopefully the Scotsman's fans will make themselves known and theSmarks will bring him back. If not: CRZ, get on the horn and bring the Scotsman to the Slash!

Scotsman was "fired" because Becker got a phone call at 2 AM from someone pissed off about Graeme's comments about Russ Haas's death. Go here to bitch about his "firing": Click Here

I think CRZ is implying that Scotsman was stealing his stuff from Seadawg, which is patently untrue. Unless, of course, it is true. Can't really say.

I also love CRZ's reports, been reading them for some time now. (I was SHOCKED! SHOCKED! I say, to read a 3 year old Nitro report and recognize it from it's original publishing.) But I also read SKeith's Raw and Smackdown rants as well as his PPV rants and most of his other various Retro stuff and history lessons; I quite enjoy them. But if he's "whoring" his Raw, Smackdown, and PPV Rants for 411wrestling, I really don't have much reason to visit theSmarks if they're firing Scotsman.

CRZ, man, I'm tellin' ya, ya gotta get Scotsman. Seriously, dude.

As far as Becker receiving a call at 2AM from Charlie Haas, someone on the Smarkboard said the exact same thing I was thinking when I read about it: why wasn't Becker pissed at Haas for calling at 2AM? I understand he was upset, but if I were in Becker's shoes, I'd also understand that Haas calling at 2AM was an attempt at insuring that something was done about Scotsman's comments. You don't make a formal complaint at 2AM. A call at 2AM is more or less a threat. My response would have been this: "Dude. 2AM? No, dude. 2AM." *Click*

Man, they sure do like to fire people over there at the Smarks. Kinda makes you wonder if maybe Shannon going nuts had something to do with working with Keith for a while. I just wonder, considering Scotsman seemed to provide about 80% of the non EGen sports related content for the site, who the hell is going to be posting for them now.

I should set up a free speech area on Hammered.com for all of the columnists that get fired from the smarks

Of course, that would associate me with them. Hmm... on second thought...

Eh. I haven't visited the Smarks in a couple-a days, and the most frequent updater was the Scotsman. Oh well, one less website to visit.

Let me get this straight. Scott Keith's rants and recaps are all on 411. Don Becker isn't doing RAW anymore. Scotsman has been dropped for-in my eyes-a lame reason. And I can access EGen Sports from their own page. Anyone want to tell me why I should keep going to TheSmarks.com?

At the risk of sounding stupid, how do we know the Scotsman is fired? He's still got updates on the front page of TheSmarks.

Still, it's old. And it seems Jay Bower replaced him. Well, fark the Smarks, I'll just get all my news from 411 and opinions and recaps from the mighty SLASH.

In one of the two threads that Scotsman's firing opened up on the SmarkBoard, someone said that without Scotsman, the most frequent contributer as of late, Smarks was lacking in new material. One of the Smarks responded that there was plenty of new material from the DVD section and EGen sports section. Considering that the Smarks is supposed to be a wrestling site, it's not good that DVD reviews and sports columns that are more or less advertisements for another site are responsible for that much of their content. I guess the whole this is more or less over, but I'd like to continue to suggest to CRZ to PICK UP THE SCOTSMAN!

    ---
Newsflash (because I can't reply to my own stuff): It's oddly coincidental that SKeith suddenly decided to bring his Raw and Smackdown Rants back to theSmarks.com just days after Scotsman's firing and the resulting comments of more than a few people along the lines of "Well, if he's not posting the Rants here and they've fired Scots, I've got no reason to visit." And that's just from the people who bother to post on forums. Quite a few more might have just decided not to visit anymore without bothering to complain.
