Phil Brooks will always be a much bigger CM Punk fan than I will ever be. It's probably why he makes a much better heel than a face. I don't understand the the clamoring and chanting that we want Punk if Punk doesn't want to be there, but he probably loves being wanted.

I am looking forward to a refreshed Punk coming back one day even if it is part time.

I agree with lotjx's overall point (I think?). I know that I agree with The Doctor and he, again, hit every point I had and said it better than I could've. Whatever happened, calling what Punk did "grossly unprofessional" is grossly irresponsible. He wasn't champion, he had a face to face with Vince, and he went home. It's not like he broke up with them via text. If he's even slightly happier doing whatever he's doing now, good for him. It's his right to walk away, and he did it at a perfect time; not the day of WrestleMania, not as The Champ, and not as someone invested in a main (or any) story that forced a complete, unrecoverable mess. His walking away made it possible to have DBry wrestle twice at Mania, and hopefully end the show with confetti and yes chants. I miss Punk on my tv, I miss knowing that Punk is there but it was time for Gotham to have a new hero. That couldn't have happened with him still there, at least not as organically as it's happening now.

CM Punk is the modern day equivalent of the Ultimate Warrior. He came in, made himself distinct, kicked everyone's ass, went over the top guy, then couldn't get along with management and disappeared. Except less steroids.

I can't wait for him to start his own religion.

Except he wasn't fired and is more than likely more mentally stable than Warrior. I think he is just CM Punk. The guy who said fuck it. I also take issue with Punk needs to grow up. He obviously believes he has enough money to move on from the WWE. He invested in Chicago area real estate which will probably never go down in price. He also signed a decent deal prior to this and was well off according to him in 2011 that he could walk away. As an adult, that is the goal. To get a job, do it as long as you like it, make a ton of cash and when the job is not fun, move on. Shit, that is the American dream. On top of who he is dating or has dated, he is winning.

I think being an adult is realizing what you want out of life, doing everything you can to get it and making the most out of it. If he doesn't want a family, good for him. If he doesn't want to work in a business with a high suicide/mental injury rate, good for him. He didn't burn a bridge like Austin or Warrior did. He did a face to face with Vince and outright told them he was going to leave after they gave him, their looking at it now shitty Wrestlemania plan. He was man enough to say enough is enough and its time for a change. More adults need to do that instead of taking it out on everyone else around them for the sake of being an adult or whatever the hell that means.

Cerebus, you must of missed the almost hour WWE Confidential where Vince and JR take shots at Austin for leaving. This company has a poor history of when someone doesn't want to do business with them anymore of screwing them over say like Bret Hart.

I know Cleveland is where dreams go to die. Yet, tonight Cleveland, I need you to be at your best. I need you to remember every John Elway Playoff TD that eliminated you from the Super Bowl. I need you to remember all those Jordan wins. I need to you remember Art Moddell and him taking your Super Bowl winning team that bolted to Baltimore. Keep that hate bottled up and then when HHH or Orton or Cena or Batista makes some what is best for business speech just unload on him like he was Art Moddell or Jordan or Elway. Because tonight, its all up to you and as a great man once said " I believe, Essa, I believe." This Steel City kid believes in your ability to convey your vast disappointment in everything. I believe.

I wish I lived in Cleveland so that I could answer this call. This call for heroes. This call by a hero.

Because, Inverse, he was unjustly pulled out of the Rumble match by Kane!! How is that allowed??? Also, bite a weenie. I was talking about Phil Brooks, @cmpunk, and my disappointment that he walked away from his job in ways that don't jive with me.

I agree with everything lotjx is saying, so fuck me.

Punk has said many times that he has plans outside of the WWE for years. He's also talked about the fact that he doesn't want to end up in his 40's still wrecking his body to make a paycheck ala most wrestlers in the industry. He's saved enough money, he's established himself in the thing he loves since he was a teen backyard wrestling in Chicago, as well as becoming champion several times.

As far as professional wrestling goes, what's really left for him to go in the business? Any Japanese wrestling fans will remember that one of Japan's biggest wrestling legends Mitsuharu Misawa pretty much died in the ring. We all know plenty of wrestlers who literally worked themselves to the point where they couldn't even retire in decent physical condition.

I think Punk maybe saw the fate of a typical wrestler and had a plan on walking away one day. He was gonna do it several years ago but he stayed. In his words he wanted to leave WWE a better place than he found it. That may be debateable but for every Zach Ryder and Kofi who seem to be going nowhere, there is Daniel Bryan, the Shield members, Cesaro, etc who the company is actually doing big things with as opposed to overlooking.

I think Punk has done mostly everything you can do in the Wrestling besides start his own company. So when does he get the time to do something for himself? If not now then when?

Plus he has no obligations. No wife or children. There is power in being a man in current society where you are told by media, the rich, and those who judge you that you MUST live a certain way in life just because that's how it is and you say "Fuck it I'm out!" and get out while you can still enjoy your life on your own terms. You can't get more DIY than that.

I'm a huge CM Punk fan. I miss him on my tv, and look forward to what he does next and when he inevitably returns. He's a modern day hero to me.

One small issue. Mind you, I don't care that much, good on Punk for pursuing whatever his dream is, he earned it. But this seven weeks of radio silence rankles me a bit.

I've been passively watching Raw the last few months with the Network thing coming up, and was getting back into the storylines before Punk left. His last tweet was sent sometime on the day of that Raw. But since not a word from the guy - which I imagine is working out great if Punk is actually looking for a new and better contract, or even if this is some elaborate worked shoot that only he and Vince know about. (If either of those are the case, the fans will retroactively forgive him.)

Since then, we've had fans on live TV chanting for him, leading up to the Chicago Raw where in the end the crowd fizzled out like it was Rey Mysterio coming out as #30 at the Rumble, while D-Bry caught another H/Authority beatdown.

What I'm saying is that even tonight, as Bryan was handcuffed, his head bashed in between a STEEL chair and a ringpost, etc etc.. and no one came out from the back, not even Cena - even tonight I was playing out the sound of static bringing the house down.

Because if Punk is really gone, he's let all this go on and build over the weeks when he could make some brief statement on his status/intentions beyond that tweet. Maybe he's getting a kick out of one last chance to work his fans?

Daniel Bryan would be just another Kofi in the WWE if it wasn't for the crowds. Same might be said for Cesaro also.

You guys don't think walking out half an hour before you're scheduled to be a part of a live TV show is unprofessional? Man, I gotta get employed alongside some of you. I think if Cena did this, or Orton, people would be a lot less forgiving.

He was trying to get to Vince all day according to reports and Vince only meet with him at the half hour mark. To be fair, I know people who walk out in the middle of the job and are still employed at other places. No one would care if Orton left and if Cena left there would be a mini-party.

I think the point being made is that people on the internet would be crucifying the "unpopular" guys (i.e. Cena and Orton) if they pulled this stunt, but since they actually like Punk, they're more than willing to make excuses for his (apparently unprofessional) behavior ...

Think of it this way: Imagine Vince went to Cena and said "You're fighting Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania", and John said "No way, that's not enough of a high-profile spot on the card" and walked out of the WWE ... Just think about what the internet's reaction would be, and what people would be saying about Cena's "professionalism."

But see, most reports are saying that Punk thought he was going tohave that WM moment, but then Big Dave showed up, along with the Yes movement to take that spot, and the rumored match was Punk/HHH. He said enough and walked out. If he HADN'T walked out, we wouldn't have what we have right now: two YES matches on WM, with the possibility of Vince getting his wish to end WM with 70,000 people chanting YES~!

Amos, I genuinely internet like you. But the world of professional wrestling isn't like any other real world job. A half-hour walkout before show time is a minor offense. Holding up a show for a guaranteed payoff is grossly unprofessional. Refusing to put over a super talented, wildly popular up and coming star because you don't think he paid his dues is grossly unprofessional. Punk walked out because (in my mind) he didn't want to put over the boss' son-in-law for one of the few matches per year he actually works, and he didn't want to take a backseat, again, to another unworthy part-timer returning out of shape as a conquering hero while Punk busts his ass 300 nights a year. Never mind that Batista isn't, and never was, as popular or as talented as The Rock. A 30 minute heads up is better than they deserved based on the situation. He could've gone off script, dropped a real pipe bomb and created anarchy. Plus everything JimBob said.

well,I have the pre-air release and here I'm reviewing cd1 of smackdown (the first hour). I'll have cd2 in about 10 minutes. I haven't really watched it yet, just fast forward. it wasn't really a smackdown,it was more like a weird house-show.
