We know it's coming--maybe not today, maybe not this year, but soon. The Undertaker is going to retire. I'm not starting this thread as yet another debate over his performance. I just want to ask everyone one question:
How do you want to see him go?
Personally, I want to see the Phenom, maybe even in the Old West outfit, going on one last no-selling, ropewalking, light-raising, Tombstone-piledriving run before giving the rub (as he has so many times before) to one of the younger generation. I remember marking out in elementary school as he took on Jake the Snake and countless others; I want one last opportunity to mark out for the Phenom before he Rests...In...Peace.
WyldeWolf1 The Man of 1,007 holds, making him 3 holds better than Chris Jericho!
Yeah, I would like to see the Phenom one more time. I'm not in any hurry to see Taker leave the ring, but the one way I do NOT want to see him go is in a wheelchair. I hope he still has *some* cartilage left in his joints when he retires. I worry about wrestlers' health--it's the mom in me (though Taker is older than I am!) ;-)
Old West outfit would be good (see my avatar) but anything other than his Ministry getup would definitely float my boat. Torches, druids, raising the lights, what have you. I'd like to get that marvelous tingle down the spine when the bell tolls once again...
But if he did a new and updated version of his dark gimmick, which I think is more likely, I wouldn't object to that either. He's not the kind to look backwards--he keeps changing and going forward.
Then again, he put on the old black and grey for WM 13 when he got the title for the second time. Maybe Taker is just a big ol' sentimentalist. ;-)
All kidding aside, it would be great if KING OF THE RING WINNER Viscera came back for revenge on being under Taker (get it?) in the Ministry. But NOW, Viscera is like 700 pounds, but can wrestle like Benoit, and has become a good hearted pimp! And then Taker jobs to him!
JUST KIDDING. In all seriousness, NO on Funaki.

P.S. YES on Funaki!

RVD would be good. Those two have put on some amazing matches, and too few of them. There's a weird electricity to their confrontations--it's as if RVD has to get SERIOUS when he's in the ring with the Undertaker. If he flips around and shows off, he's going to get murdered. He turns up the intensity and makes the match look like a genuine fight for his life instead of an acrobatic exhibition. Taker, meanwhile, looks like he truly wants to hurt him. ;-) Maybe that's real heat, or maybe it's just good chemistry.
The main problem with RVD is his limp mic skills, IMO, but cutting promos on Taker might be just the thing to make those interviews more credible.
Another guy I would root for as Taker's last feud would be Edge. He's steadily growing on me as a serious contender. Yeah, he's still doing comedy spots with Angle and Hogan, but the promo he cut just before he went out with the shoulder injury was great. Again, he jacked up the intensity and sounded believable as a fighter.
Edge has some history with Taker, though that was a while ago--it shouldn't be too hard to write the angle, and the matches could be on a par with Taker/RVD, though in a different style. Edge can look like a psycho with those sharp white teeth glinting in the lights--that's a quality that could come in handy vs. Taker.
Eye of the Tiger Hogan, Phenom Taker and Flair join forces for one final match against RVD, Booker T and Jeff Hardy. The vets job to the youth, then beat the hell out of Vince McMahon. After it's all done, they bow to the fans, shake each others' and the youngsters' hands, and walk out of the arena.
We see them go to the parking lot, Hogan and Taker get on different motorcycles, Flair in a limousine, and ride off in three different directions for the last time.
Too much ego for that to happen.

That would be nice. Classy and fair, yet it seems really to far fetched to happen.
Plus Hogan wouldn't be able to get the Bike started and would have to walk!

You're all wrong, the Undertaker's last match will be against Kane. I agree that the Undertaker should return to his original gimmick, with the urn, caskets, ropewalk, and even bring back Paul Bearer.
"Catching Hitler was neato!" "Next stop, Hirohito!" Bart Simpson
No Paul Bearer. And Triple H should not go over Taker. Triple H has gone over plenty of people, but not many people have gone over Taker. So if some up-and-comer blows off a huge feud with Taker by winning and sending him away, he'll have something Triple H doesn't have, and then be a viable contender to him.

Plus, I just don't like Triple H

You know, before I suggested RVD a few posts back, I was really leaning toward Kane. And that would make the most sense, storyline and past history wise.
What a Manuever!

Though that does make sense storyline-wise, I doubt that much of anyone besides the wrestling faithful remembers, much less *cares*, about the backstory. Kane doesn't need the push - use it on someone younger.

Nah, Kane would be much more of a symbolic passing of the torch - they are "brothers", you know. And have, therefore, incredibly similar styles. *AND* he would make the most sense against the *REAL* Undertaker gimmick we all need to see one last time.

Taker breaking out the Dead man gimmick wouldn't make sense at all..it's not like Hogan coming out to Real American once more..but it would be very cool to see.
And yeah, you know Deadbeater's idea would never happen. Jeff Hardy will refuse to be beaten and stay down.. When the three oldies rev their engines Jeff will crawl up in the ring and yell 'I'm still standing!' (errr..wait..that was DDP)

He needs a top guy to put him over. Period. An I'd like it to be Taker.
If not him, then Jericho would be nice. Taker's going the face route, kind of, and I wouldn't mind seeing Y2J get a last win and good to decent match from the Taker.
An open letter to Andrew Gilkison from me: Sir, I am no longer pleased with your product and thus will not read it. I am the consumer and your product is not living up to my expectations. I could open up an Andrew Gilkison message board and cry about it, but that's a waste of my time. In the meantime, I would suggest you work on improving your product. Thank you.
Watching RAW and Smackdown doesn't cost anymore than your posts do. And so, like a good consumer, I'm tuning you out.
If you have 'Taker put over Angle, WHILE he's using the Deadman gimmick (urn and all), I think you could finally get the joke/dork tag off of Angle.
It works for him now, but in the not too distant future when Taker leaves they're going to need a bad ass. Angle can play that part convincingly...if he gets the right rub.
If Cena is the NBT, then why not go down the road they seem to be at the minute with those two and end it with a 'Tutor vs. Pupil' match to send Taker home?

Kane comes back as the "Dead Man" and Undertaker defeats his alter-ego as his fitting end...
