NXT and WWE are in their own universes, it seems - at least during the show you'll often hear the name NXT Universe mentioned. In fact, until recently, NXT was never mentioned on Raw or Smackdown.

On NXT, Seth Rollins was a punk rocker who'd have a one man mosh pit at the top of the stage, but he debuted on RAW as a member of the Shield. Also, Roman Reigns was an arrogant pretty boy on NXT, but then became the silent-ish member of the Shield upon debut. Big E was the master of the five count on NXT, and on WWE, he was, well...what was he?

Johnny Curtis became Fandango upon debut, too.

Its not always like this, though - Alexander Rusef on NXT is the same Alexander Rusef that will debut for Raw whenever.

The point I'm trying to make is this: NXT is it's own world, and what happens there isn't necessarily what happens or will happen on WWE programming.

All true. In the case of Emma, though, same dance, same music, same bubbles, completely different context thanks to one interview and one crowd who already understood what the hell she was doing. (And zero Santino.)

I watched this this morning, and I thought it was a great show. I finally understand why people have been talking up NXT for so long. I agree with Shapiro that the 2/3 falls match between Cesaro and Zayn was just all right, but this match was spectacular, and told a phenomenal story. Between that, the women's match, and the championship match, the NXT crew put the best possible face on their promotion.

It seems to be going well, with less of the time warp feeling from Cornette-era OVW people used to swoon over -- or at least without the "we gotta sell out Six Flags goddamnit" problems in, um, cohesive integration that led to many meltdowns and a lot of ... racket.

You, sir, win the Internets today. Bravo, and well played!

A great show with the 3 key matches delivering in spades.
Cesaro/Zayne couldn't go wrong.
The finish came almost sudden (in a match where they delivered plenty of big moves) but was very well done.

The women's title match was great too.
Lots of talent between those two.
It did seem Paige was a bit toned down (not as many shrieks, less goth/dark/metal outfit) but that's no problem.

The ladder match was solid. I liked the spots they had for all of those big matches but Bo's was best.
He's really grown into an excellent jerk and I hope he gets to continue doing it.

The other matches were nice little showcases for characters.
I love Tyler Breeze's character (and how the crowd responds to it)

It was a good show, a solid showcase for what NXT is.
I hope they continue doing these from time to time.

Oh, I liked how HHH and Steph were NOT heels. Because they don't have to be heelish here. They're just the proud 'owners' who want to hype the show.
(In fact I like that they're not always superheelish on Raw/Sd either. Makes it less cartoonish)
And the crowd going "you still got it" with Steph replying "i never lost it" was golden.

Yeah, Regal called it a "Scorpion Crosslock." Googling it pulls up a video of Bull Nakano stretching Manami Toyota in a way the human body is not meant to be stretched (youtube.com). At the end of a video, you can see Bull transitioning into a hanging dragon sleeper of sorts, which is somehow even *more* sick.

Cesaro and Zayn was fantastic, but to me it never felt like Zayn had a legitimate chance of winning. The false finishes were nice but I think they never got me to buy into the idea that Zayn might win.

I actually enjoyed the Neville/Bo Dallas match. Neville's Red Arrow is a thing of beauty. Bo Dallas' "Bo-liever" pre-match video package was gold, it somehow reminded me of those awesome Alberto Del Rio vignettes when they were introducing his character. Speaking of ADR, has anyone seen the little WWE Network spot that ADR does? The one where he shills the international superstars, including the "little chihuahua" Rey Mysterio? It's complete with the wink and the smile at the end, which had to be the best iteration of ADR's character over the last few years.

The Ascension's music is now some generic crap as opposed to the awesome " Let Battle Commence (youtube.com)." Boo-urns!

This show is now available on demand on the network, so if you haven't seen it yet, go and watch it. It's good stuff. With competent commentary.
