This movie comes out this year and there has been hardly anything about it (meanwhile Amazing Spider-Man2 keeps releasing a trailer every week). This was pretty much what they showed at Comic-Con last July but with more footage like the Collector and Nebula.
Spider-Man comes out 5/2, GotG comes out 8/1. How many trailers for ASM 2 had we seen in November? 0
I like the tone of the trailer
"Tattoos are the mullets of the aughts." - Mike Naimark
"Don't stop after beating the swords into ploughshares, don't stop! Go on beating and make musical instruments out of them. Whoever wants to make war again will have to turn them into ploughshares first" - Yehuda Amichai
I was super-hyped for this. On first viewing, I thought the trailer felt...off. Something was wrong with the pacing and I thought they were overemphasizing the wackiness.
Then I re-watched it with my wife, who has no knowledge of the GotG, and gauged her reaction. She loved it, and I liked it much more on second viewing. I think the movie is going to be tons of fun.
I'm in the camp that is hoping Thanos wipes the floor with these guys. It does look like a lot of fun, but I am not sure how its going to fit into the serious tone Winter Soldier is setting and Avengers 2 is rumored to have. I think it maybe too campy for its own good. Still, Karen Gillan is hot even if she is blue and bald.
The Wee Baby Sheamus.Twitter: @realjoecarfley its a bit more toned down there. A bit.
Meh, Batista ruins everything. I know nothing about GotG as opposed to the previous bigger name Marvel Releases (Except for Thor) so watching it should be interesting as I'll go in knowing nothing.
I don't believe it matters that this movie has a less serious tone than Cap or Avengers 2. Like most of the Marvel movies so far, it's supposed to stand on its own. No issues there. It'll probably be used to explain the bigger picture and to why Thanos cares about the earth and all that. But that's the only tie-in that I expect. And even that will be vague I bet. No direct appearance of the big guy.
Also, I don't think it'll matter much that most of us don't know these characters. It can be sold as a wacky space adventure. Difference between this and for instance John Carter is that this doesn't take itself serious it seems. And using the Marvel name will automatically add a hefty couple of millions. Will it be a huuuuge blockbuster? Not sure. Will it do well? Yes I think it will.
Having said that, the team looks great, especially Groot. The one thing about this that I didn't like is John C Reilly. His voice sounded too goofy.
Originally posted by StaggerLeeThere's absolutely nothing in that trailer that makes me want to see that movie. NOTHING.
I'm in the same boat despite Zoe, Batista, Reilly, and comic-booky elements like a talking raccoon and a tree guy. I'm not picking up this movie's vibe at all.
"To be the man, you gotta beat demands." -- The Lovely Mrs. Tracker
Everyone focuses on Reilly in that scene (cuz he's narrating), but that's Peter F***in' Serafinowicz standing right behind him. Which makes his cameo on Parks & Rec as Andy's British boss all the more interesting since we know they were filming this movie instead of doing British stuff. Just knowing that this is the level of minor character we are going to see, this movie is going to be tons of fun. And I say that as someone who never cared about the Guardians of the Galaxy comics.
I have no idea about the Guardians and this is the first time I have seen the trailer. I am pretty pumped for this movie. It looks like it will be fun - a popcorn type of action movie with some decent one liners and tons of violence. What's not to love?
And Rocket. Come on - a raccoon with a machine gun? I'm in and so are my kids.
Life is hilariously cruel.
It ain't the six minutes... it's what happens in that six minutes.
