What would happen if I made this a monthly thread? Probably nothing.

PS+ additions for the month
- Outlast (PS4) - survival horror
- Metro: Last light (PS3) - apocalyptic survival
- Payday 2 (PS3) - co-op shooter
- Remember Me (PS3) - 3rd person action adventure
- Street Fighter X Tekken (Vita) - Street Fighter x Tekken
- ModNation Racers: Road Trip (Vita) - kart racing

PS4 will get firmware 1.6 soon, mostly around support for 1st party headsets - and so they have a new $100 headset.

The UK is getting the new slim PS Vita, released last year in Japan. No release date in the US. Still no release date for my blue PS4 controller!

Beta invites to the PS Now are out. You probably didn't get one. (Unless you did and want to share?)

I don't want to add to your workload here or anything since we don't pay you, but these threads do save me wasting minutes a day checking the store for new PS+ content.

The only new retail release for this week is Lego: The Movie: The Video Game for every system. Maybe a rare case where the movie video game is better than the movie, because that movie looks not good.

I was thinking the opposite. There hasn't been much coverage of the game, which usually indicates a rush job. On the other hand, the movie is sitting at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes right now (20 reviews counted). Looks like it should be a really fun movie and Will Arnett as Batman sounds great.

My guess was based on the Lego games being reliable ok/good if very repetitive at this point, and the movie trailer looking like the bare minimum of plot needed to sell a lot of product. The early reviews of the movie are really positive though.

The Store Update for this week includes preoders for Dark Souls II and hte new South Park game. Call of Dusty: Ghosts was listed but removed.) I know nothing about the new games listed.

Tuesday's PS+ add is Payday 2 for PS3 (co-op shooter, crime).

Poker Night 2 (PS3) and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (PS Vita) leave the store next Tuesday.

Watch Dogs, which was originally supposed to be a launch day game for both PS4 and X1, is now "on track to come out between April and June." The Wii U version is coming "sometime later" (which may be never.) Ubisoft explained the game just needed to be a little bit better when they pushed it back to this spring originally, but this sounds like a dumpster fire.

Dumpster fire seems a bit harsh. Ubisoft has been down on the Wii U since they pushed back Rayman Legends to make it multi-platform. I wouldn't read too much into the fate of the game based on Ubisoft's poor opinion of Nintendo right now.

That said, Watchdogs was pushed back from next-gen launch a while ago. Not too sure what the cause is, but I'd rather they take the time to develop the game properly, since it got such a high reception at E3 two years ago when it was announced. Plus, the new consoles are selling well enough that all waiting does for them is insure a bigger installation base. (although won't it be avaialable on PS3 and 360 as well?)

The article referencing the trademark snafu seems like they are trying to put force a conspiratorial narrative where none exists.

Not doing Wii U in itself is no big deal because of the problems you mentioned. IT reads like they needed to pull the people off that system to get the game working for other system, but they could have just decided it wasn't worth the effort at the moment.

My bigger concern is with the game being pushed back twice (so far!) Their story back on the first delay suggesting they just needed to polish and fine tune. That blog post did only say "Spring", so maybe I was wrong to assume that meant March/April and not April/May/June.

This was indeed supposed to be on 360/PS3; it was actually one of the Cross Buy games for PS3/PS4. And it could be that the game is actually very good right now and they're just crazily trying to make it perfect (this interview suggests that), but delaying a game up to 8 months is rarely a good sign.

Yeah, the delays are not the best sign but I imagine that bringing a game to so many different platforms at once (or slightly later for Wii U) has to be a nightmare. In the end I am sure it will still end up being a pretty solid game though.

I am looking forward to a couple years down the line when 100% of all these companies resources will be behind the current gen instead of straddling. That is when we really start to see what this gen will truly be capable of. Activision already said recently that COD: Ghosts was hampered by being such an early title and the next one will focus on current gen first and foremost.

In the meantime Infamous Second Son should be amazing and is set for next month. That should tide over anyone with a PS4 looking for big city open world action, and possibly even surpass what Watch Dogs will offer.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is the only totally new release for the PS3 this week. (Nothing for the PS4.) There's a few game bundles also out.

The PSN store update includes a Last of Us Bundle. The "Left Behind" additional story DLC for that game isn't being released until Friday (out of schedule for PSN), but that bundle will get you the game, that DLC, and a bunch of other DLC.

There's also a new app for easier modifying your headphone settings depending on which game you're playing.

Divekick for $2.49 is a great price. Its a great party game since its so wacky and simple to learn, but it is suprisingly deep once you get into it. Highly recommended, especially for fighting game fans.

The PSN update has add on content for Assassins Creed and a Beta for Final Fantasy XIV. There's a big sale on some Rockstar games; Red Dead Redemption is all the way down to $8.

Gran Turismo 5 announced the shutdown of servers is coming in May. I don't think this deserves its own thread but it was posted to the newschannel in game this week.

March's PS+ offerings

- Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition (PS4) - probably next Tuesday
- Tomb Raider (PS3)
- Thomas Was Alone (PS3)
- Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut (PS3)
- Unit 13 (PS Vita)
- Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite (PS Vita)

I was really hoping for a PS4 game I would want to play but I maintain my anti-zombie position. Everyone has said Tomb Raider was really good.

VIDEO GAME NEWS OF GAMES I AM PLAYING

- Finally got around to finishing Knack only because I had a friend come over who wanted to check out the PS4 and there's only so much FIFA you can do. The dialogue remains awful, whoever laid out the game prefers cutscenes over letting you do anything good, the plot is cliched, one of the main villains disappears from the plot (not to be confused with the one who is vaporized - or not, since they clearly wanted to do a sequel), and the surprise reveal during the credits makes the heroes look jerks. The questions the game posed during the beginning of the game - what is Knack? what's the deal with these relics? what's going on behind that door? - are never answered, or much teased to be answered. You fight a mystery villain from behind that door, but what it is is never explained. I can see it kind of as an Indiana Jones thing, but the journey is much better (and the payoff is too.)

I played thru on easy, and felt like I only needed about two buttons the whole thru. Weird you have this new controller with all sort of buttons - has anyone used the touchpad at all? - and this game designed to take use of the graphic ability doesn't do the same for the controller.

I can't imagine ever playing this again. It was not fun. If they ever do another Playstation version of Super Smash Brothers, I will not choose Knack.

- I did finally get to playing Resogun. It's crazy and visually impressive and tough and fun and I have absolutely no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. I can see why people like it.

- I am also grinding my way thru multiple play thrus of Ratchet & Crank: Into the Nexus. It was fun the first couple of times, less so this third time, and I can't believe I'm probably playing this a fourth time - but I need just one more trophy to get the Platinum, but I should've been paying attention enough to get it before now. It's only a few hours more.

Maybe I'll go back and play Tomb Raider or Borderlands 2, but it's possible that's my PS3 game. I enjoyed the PS3, it was a good system.

Picked up the game for purely nostalgic purposes, and was pleasantly surprised. Gameplay: Just like the games for the old Nintendo. Even the slide and jump look the same, only with massively souped up graphics.
