If the WWE's plan to combat rowdy crowds was to give them a show where there was very little to care about, then they did a real fine job. The Cleveland crowd couldn't agree on what message they wanted to send either.

How does a Sheamus run in make any sense to open the show?

The crowd had Batista rattled, but gave up too quickly.

The Outlaws looked worse than usual.

Just a really long show that left me playing with mobile devices most the night waiting for something to happen when I should have went to bed.

At least The Wyatt's and Shield should be feuding, hopefully stopping the string of run ins.

Stop giving me reasons to debate buying your dumb network WWE.

WWE Management: Okay, we hear you. Here's what we'll do. We'll put you Daniel Bryan in the Elimination Chamber, but he'll have to earn the spot by being in a tag match with John Cena and Sheamus. Yes, he'll earn that spot really good by getting a DQ win thanks to The Wyatts attacking John Cena again.

I can't believe they didn't bypass Bryan all together by letting The Shield win, because I'm pretty sure that crowd would have popped pretty good for Roman Reigns getting to pin Sheamus or John Cena. I really don't see how that match helped anyone get over.

And poor Batista. If I was him, I'd 'accidentally' tear a quad or something, cause this is all just a total failure for him.

I also wish Brock Lesnar would have come out and destroyed the Divas instead of the Rhodes. Why attack Cody and Goldust when you're mad at The Authority when the NAOutlaws were right there and it would have made way more sense to attack Helmsley's friends?

Just got back from the show. Each of the last three shows here has shown an increase in attendance. Tonight they actually had seats opened in the upper deck. They also announced presales for another RAW in June following the show.

Superstars matches: Natalya vs. Summer Rae and Los Matadores vs. 3MB.

Crowd was super hot, there were two sustained "Yes" chants before the show and when they said they were going live. I am very proud of Cleveland for delivering in that opening segment. Haven't seen the TV footage yet, but when Rollins entered for that part, part of the wall fell down which led to the crowd chanting "You Fell Down!". Kids thought that was hilarious. Unfortunately, after that hot of a start, everyone was pretty tapped out for awhile after that. I felt bad for Kofi and ADR, as they were having a really nice match and the crowd was pulling the 'chant for everyone else' bit. Not cool.

Meghan is starting to enjoy Bad News Barrett.

Jennifer was thrilled to see Luke Harper in that ending segment. She was really hoping to see him in action tonight.

JJD - We all cheered for Cena in the ME. "Let's go Cena" ended up winning out in the crowd.

After the ME, Shield demanded they get the rest of their match. They came in and were quickly dispatched by Cena, Sheamus, and Bryan except for Rollins, who was abandoned in the ring. He tried playing up to the three, doing Sheamus' pose, then doing Cena's salute, then doing the "Yes" gesture (while we roared "NO!"). He even kneeled down and kissed Bryan's boots! All three gave him their finishers to send everyone home happy.

Kids had a blast, we all had a really good time.

I'm sure someone will point to the Meltzer rumors and try to tie this into the Bryan/Sheamus plan for Wrestlemania. I, however, will point out that Sheamus had a pretty long grudge against the Shield through all of 2013, so this actually made pretty good sense to me.

That entire promo was on life support until Brock and Heyman showed up. If they're planning on headlining Wrestlemania with this, the lead-up is going to be brutal. We're going to be pining for the good old days of Cena/Rock promos.

I still, for the life of me, refuse to understand why the Outlaws are in such a prominent position in 2014, especially when the tag team division is the best it's been in years. The Real Americans deserve this slot. Hell, Rybaxel is more deserving of this slot! At least Ryback and Axel have worked for the full year.

This is what continues to stagger me about the Outlaws. About a month ago, they were a fun nostalgia act. But at some point, somebody not only decided that they should go from nostalgia novelty act to full-time tag team again, but the decision was made to immediately hand them the tag titles, despite having done nothing to earn them aside from being Hunter's buddies. It has to be deflating to the teams that have actually busted their asses throughout the last few years.

At least the Usos will get rewarded at the end, assuming that's the big endgame.

This was actually set up quite beautifully and it was the Shield's selling of anger at the end that made it. You can see the collision course and that six-man is going to be glorious fun, especially if they put it in the Chamber. It's also as good a place as any to finally pull the trigger on the Shield breakup and send Roman into stardom.

I can only imagine this gimmick going until the writers get bored with it (much like every other midcard gimmick in the last five years), but damn if Wade isn't knocking this out of the park. He's just nailing this at every turn. The only real miss is that it seems to be leading to yet another feud with The Miz and that feud has been done TO DEATH!

So at Elimination Chamber, we could be set up for...

* Orton/Cena/Sheamus/Bryan/Lesnar(?)/unknown sixth guy (kind of at a loss to think of who this could be....Langston? Undertaker, specifically to take out Brock?)
* Batista vs. Del Rio
* Shield vs. Wyatt family (which would rule even harder if it was in the Chamber as well)
* Punk vs. Kane
* Outlaws vs. Usos?

Not going to lie, that's already a pretty strong card

It makes a monumental amount of sense to switch the belt onto Bryan and do Bryan/Batista at 'Mania. Not just "I'm a desperate Bryan mark" sense - I am that, but on a grander scale all the pieces fit. Orton has bombed as champion and regularly gets dressed down on-air, Batista's face return has fallen apart and he's way better as an asshole monster heel, HHH needs a new corporate champion, and Bryan getting screwed out of the belt yet again would just lead to more bombing hard and crowd rebellion. Making that match changes the WM title scene from surefire disaster to actual exciting times. It's a completely fresh match, Bryan works amazing as an underdog against big bully-type guys, the crowd would go insane, Bryan winning the night before the Network debut would cause an explosion of excitement and kickstart the Road to WrestleMania as a source of positivity rather than cynicism, Batista can turn back face in plenty of time for the GUARDIANS release in the summer....there is literally no downside to it as a course correction.

I'm not expecting them to actually do that, mind. I think we're still stuck with Orton/Batista and Bryan/Sheamus.

EDIT: On a separate issue altogether, wasn't Paul Bearer already announced for this year's HOF induction class back in May? There's been no mention so far of his inclusion.

I didn't think this was a bad show. The NAO suck, but I thought they were doing something neat with the match, where they were clearly outclassed by the Rhodes, and I thought the Rhodes were doing a surprisingly good job of carrying the NAO. The main event had a terrible finish, but as a Bryan+2 match against the SHIELD, I can't really argue with it. I think the problem with Kofi/ADR was that, while it was a good match, there were no stakes to it. There was no reason for the crowd to invest, so they just started shitting all over it. Five minutes of promo time before the match could have fixed that, and I think they need to start having reasons for matches from now on other than to fill time. Finally, Bad News Barrett is the worst gimmick in the world, but Wade Barrett might be the best performer in the company, because he has made it one of my favorite parts of the show. I genuinely look forward to his bits. I'm still just not sure how it's going to translate into an actual wrestling angle. When's the last time he even wrestled?

Am I the only one who finds any irony in the complaints about the old, washed up New Age Outlaws getting the tag titles when one of the two guys they took the titles from, Goldust, is older than Road Dogg? NAO are doing just fine and are clearly just a short novelty run until they move the titles to the Usos. That way they can do a legitimate feud between the Usos and Real Americans. (That's probably your Wrestlemania pre-show match right there.)

What exactly are they going for with Brock? I assume they're trying to make him look like a dangerous, unstable badass, but he comes off as a pansy who's afraid to fight anyone, so he just attacks them with chairs.

I don't actually have any hope of it happening, but Cena putting over Bray Wyatt clean at Wrestlemania could be huge for Wyatt's character. Even more so than The Shield, I think Wyatt is a good long term investment for the WWE. He could easily be the next Undertaker on multiple levels.

Also, while the crowd was certainly crapping on Kofi vs Kingston at the start, they did a good job of bringing them back into it from the point that they did the double tumble from the turnbuckles to the floor.

With over six months until Batista's movie comes out, there's plenty of time to have him turn heel, get injured and get healthy again in time to come back as a face to promote Guardians of the Galaxy. I, for one, hope said promotion involves Hornswoggle or El Torito dressed as Rocket.

As the first Raw I've watched in years, and the first since they went 3 hours, I had no problem staying interested from start to finish. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Royal Rumble, which was the first PPV I've watched/bought since Wrestlemania XX. A long break will do wonders for jadedness.

You probably didn't see this, but when The Shield was entering for the ME, Rollins was pointing at the barricade, and had this look of, "Not THIS time!", and carefully made his way across it.

NOA WERE funny during the match, especially Dogg's comments. Can't wait for them to roll the titles to The Uso's, but not before someone call's Billy "The Ram".

There wa a commercial in the second half that I blanked out the first part of it, but then I realised it was for tix for the Elimination Chamber in Minneapolis, and the last part of the commercial was" "Which one of these six men will walk out the champion?", and from what glimpses I got, they showed Punk, Bryan, Rollins, Sheamus and Orton. I coulda swore the other one was Reigns. Z, did you see this commercial?

During the R-Truth/Fandango match, Woods sat ringside and said he was pursuing a degree in education to help kids with autism. We have our origin of the WWE's Professor Xavier.

Also, JBL started a running joke about East Carolin University, "the Harvard of the South." That's Vince's alma mater. I think he met Linda there at the school of business. It's also MY alma mater.

It's hard to find anything to complain about with Shield/Bryan main events, and last night's was solid. Reigns is starting to feel it, with little bouncing gestures after signature moves (the apron dropkick and the Superman punch).

Steph did a much better job working the crowd than Hunter in the first segment with Bryan.

Actually, since we knew they were coming, we were watching as one of the staff made extra sure that section was secure before they got down there.

Additional comments -
Cesaro was outstanding. Real Americans are really doing a great job with their gimmick. After every "We The People!", the girls would add, "...wish you would shut up!"

During the Miz / Ziggler match, nobody really knew who to cheer for as we liked both guys, so that made it difficult to know how to react. Crowd settled on "Cleveland Rocks"; that worked.

Lesnar/Heyman totally saved that Batista/Orton segment. Even the lovely Mrs. whatever noted that while she can't stand Heyman, he is incredibly good at what he does.

That said, she was quite disappointed in no CM Punk appearance. His entrance is even the ringtone on her phone.

There was a co-worker and his family sitting by us. He used to watch back in college about a decade ago, who had kept in casual touch with WWE. He had heard of Daniel Bryan, but not about the YES movement. I told him Kane was still around but he had gone corporate. He replied, "Oh, the Corporation is back?" and I had to laugh as I told him about the Authority. Then when I told him that NAO were the tag team champs he was in shock that they were still around. The more things change... He was very happy to see Rey Misterio though, as that was one of his favorites. He also noted how Goldust looked amazing compared to back in the day.

Yeah, I had missed a couple minutes here and there of the show, and was wondering if I had missed Punk. When the ME was half over, i really thought that the ending was going to be Reign's hitting the spear on DB, and as he went for the pin, Cult Of Personality would hit, out would walk Punk, distracting the Shield, bam, Reign's gets pinned, Shield get pissed, Sheamus, Cena and Db are in the EC ME, Authority get pissed at Punk, HHH/PUNK WMXXX here we come!

Alas. Nothing. Was Punk injured Sunday night?

-edit -

The original plan for last night's Raw was to feature a number of qualifying matches for the Elimination Chamber match that will headline the 2/23 PPV of the same name.
When Vince McMahon decided the show needed to be rewritten late in the day, the qualifiers were dropped in favor of the six man tag, with the decision to drop other segments.

The original plan featured CM Punk wrestling in one of the qualifiers as well as follow-up on the Kane attack of Punk. The decision was made to focus on that storyline next week, so Punk was held off the show to sell the angle.
----------------------------

There you have it.

Oh, and whom is Christian going to have JUST ONE MORE MATCH WITH? Ambrose for the US Title? I actually wouldn't mind that.

Speaking of injuries, Ziggler looked to legit mess his knee up. ADR really sold the hell out of that groin pull after jumping on Kofi awkwardly, but when he hit the kick, all was well.

Personally, I think he needs to *win* the belt at WM. Having him walk in as champion would be a bit anticlimactic in my eyes & kill that underdog vibe that gets fans to rally behind him.

I had fun watching the show tonight. The way things are, they know they have to make "new stars" at least on Raw, and by actually coming out in the opening segment and admitting that they gave the guys the incentive to turn it up a notch.
