Uh, no, not yet, King. AWA stuff won't be available yet, which is why I'm waiting. I can't wait to watch those old Blackwell, Ventura, Crusher and Mad Dog matches.
"Yeah, but you booked the territory!" -JBL. WAIT. IT'S NOT REAL?!
Is that match on the Best of AWA DVD they put out, because the "whole home video library" is supposed to be available on the network?

It's not in the nature of faces to take shortcuts like this.
A face wants to triumph on his own. This would be sort of a heel move.

I have been thinking about this a lot. A lot. JBL's been the one pushing hardest for Daniel to join the Wyatt's, and it actually makes sense from his perspective. JBL joining a cult is arguably the best career decision he ever made. From the Ministry of Darkness he went on to the APA, all of which helped raise his profile from the lower card to the upper card.

I am not sure, but wasn't that match on a Lawler ran Memphis show? So would that be a AWA or USWA/CWA match? That being said, I don't even remember if WWE owns the Memphis stuff.
Well, I'm glad my concerns a couple weeks back seem to have been unfounded. Bryan didn't lose a drop of heat from his temporary 'slave' turn, and if anything is more popular than ever. I seriously haven't seen a crowd pop that hard for someone since Stone Cold, and that's saying a HUGE amount for how over the Goat is. I know WWE has squandered great things before, but I have to say this was quite well played. Especially how he managed to get himself locked in a cage with Bray Wyatt, where his minions couldn't interfere and where he could deliver a well-deserved beating. I do kinda wonder how DB got back out of the cage, though, with Wyatt's minions presumably waiting on the ground for him to drop down so they could jump him.
I have to admit I skipped most of last night's show, too much anime to watch this season. I did see the latter part of Cena/Sandow, and it was a pretty good match for one whose ending was blatantly obvious. It really did make Sandow look pretty strong and like a credible threat, if he could just manage to pick up a win somewhere.

I was going to say even Hogan. It's hard to think of many examples of a wrestler connecting THIS much with a crowd. Him on top of the cage leading the Yes chants. Such a visual.

This was the first thing I thought of. Whoever is writing WWE right now (Vince McMahon?) didn't really plot out the trajectory of this story very well. It would have made much more sense to block it out as a month-long story that paid off at the Royal Rumble, where Bryan used the Wyatts to clear the ring, then turned on them at the end.
How does Bryan by himself get rid of the three Wyatts? The distrusting Harper and Rowan would chuck him first and then eliminate themselves to guarantee Bray gets the title shot.
This whole idea would work if the Final Four came down to Bryan and the Wyatts, but there's no way that's going to happen. Not with Batista in this match.

Punk in Chicago at MiTB '11? But yeah, still nowhere near this.
The only other recent monster pop I can think of is Dolph's cash-in, but that was more, "Yay! We got what we asked for!" than Dolph's doing.

Awww man, that sucks Right in the middle of his biggest night yet, too. Amazing he could still perform that well when he's essentially blacked out. DB is even more than man now than he was before I knew that.
And LOL, from the comments ... "What if Bryan came back out with the Wyatt Family next week because he forgot he turned on them..."
People seem to be forgetting that Bryan joining the Wyatt Family a couple of weeks ago was a result of him going through a gauntlet of Harper & Rowan in order to finally get his hands on Bray, only to immediately get jumped by the flunkies before the final battle even started.
If there was a master plan, the purpose was obviously to give Bryan a chance to get his hands on Bray without any outside interference, which is exactly what happened. As much as a Rumble victory would have made a great payoff, there is absolutely no guarantee of no interference in the Rumble. (Just ask Sid Vicious Justice.)
Put me in the camp of people who hope that Kane was in cahoots with Bryan all along, but I hope Kane's involvement isn't revealed until Wrestlemania. (And then that somehow results in a post-Mania event between Bryan & Punk, who's pissed off that they didn't offer him any help while Kane was manipulating The Authority.)

Excellent, there's another chapter finished for your Astonishing Tales Of Titan e-book I've been compiling.
"ALL OF MY GREATEST OPPONENTS ARE DEAD...HULK...HOGAN"
And a title! Holy shit.
Follow this up with a SHIELD vs. Wyatt Family feud that finishes with a six-man Elimination Chamber
EliminaShield Chamber is actually a very good idea. I forgot that was on the table last year. As it stands, your February PPV has been hinted at
Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton and/or John Cena for the title Batista vs. Alberto Del Rio
so you wonder where the Chamber comes in. Big E takes on Fandango, Ryback, and the other top 4 contenders for the prestigious Intercontinental title! The winner of this match will guarantee himself a spot on the pre-show of Wrestlemania.
The correct answer, of course, is that Daniel Bryan wins the Rumble, then the Authority makes him defend it in the Chamber, which he also wins, because his time is now.
Cena and Undertaker vs. The Shield, to pay off Taker/Shield and set up Cena vs. Undertaker. Batista attacks Brock and gets him DQ'd against Orton as reciprocity for Lesnar pulling him out of the Rumble. Voila, everybody wins.
If we're still delirious about last night, let's even entertain Lesnar getting the title from Orton, keeping Batista/Orton, and doing Bryan/Lesnar: The Ultimate Wrestling Fairy Tale (and the sequel to Guerrero/Lesnar).
Daniel Bryan doesn't have to personally fire John Cena and become the actual face of the company and all that nonsense, but the #2 priority in the company for the next two months should be thinking about how to best set up one of the great visuals of all-time with a wide shot of the whole Superdome doing Yes as Bryan is about to succeed at, you know, something.

Would have been just as massive as what we saw last night, except have more meaning.
It would've made the angle consequential, but just aesthetically, if I was going to see Daniel Bryan win the Royal Rumble -- and I'm not expecting it either way -- I would rather see him do it as his underdog fighting spirit man persevering through many minutes.

There's nothing wrong with a weaselly figure getting some, but the punishment didn't fit the crime. It didn't tell a story with a beginning, middle, and end. Especially when Randy Orton is a terrible person for punching another old man associate of a wrestler who was minding his own business.
It was a great night for Daniel. But damn, WWE has no easy job ahead of them. Unless Bryan stands tall (with a title?) at the end of Wrestlemania, people will be mad. If they do want to go another route....they need to keep him out of the Rumble match, maybe give him one blow-off match with the Family. The reason being that if he's in the RR, nobody else will be cheered (other than entrance pops) The crowd will riot if he gets eliminated and they'll chant his name for the rest of the night.
By putting him far away from it, they might trick the crowd into forgetting
Still, they should just roll with it. Try and use his overness to their advantage. So what if he might not be the face of the company for the next 5 years (at some point this craziness will end, no?) Make the money now and then go back to planned guys like Reigns.
I was curious how the youngest would take this development, given her attachment to the Wyatt family. By the end of the viewing, both daughters were standing in the family room loudly chanting 'YES! YES! YES!' along with the crowd. They *loved* it.
I'd also like to echo the props to the half-nelson slam from Cena. Sandow looked good against him, but he really does need some direction. I wish they hadn't abandoned the robe and his snootier side.

I think people are overestimating how the crowd would react if Bryan didn't win the Rumble. I think it'd be dumb NOT to put him over for the belt at WM, especially as there are more interesting matches for everyone who could be in his place (Batista Vs. Lesnar is such a no-brainer that I'm stunned it's not the plan), but it's not going to torpedo their Mania season if he doesn't go over.

Their Mania is set with the new network. Unless, the server pulls a HealthCare.gov and they have to refund all that money then they are fucked more so than anything they do in the ring. Bryan going over Orton in a five star match is meaningless if its the least profitable PPV of all time.
They are setting themselves up for another Rock/Hogan X-8 incident. If Bryan faces Taker then half the audience is gong to leave prior to the main event. Batista will get some fans back, but it depends on how they bring him back and who he is going to face. Lesnar/Batista is a great match if done properly, but I don't think its a Wrestlemania main event. We are also forgetting the other 800lb Gorilla in the room, John Cena. I doubt Cena is going to take a backseat to Bryan, Punk, Batista, Lesnar, HHH and Taker on top of Randy Orton. Somehow, someway he will be the focus of Mania this year. I doubt the Wyatts or even Shield is ready for that push to the top. I am sure Cena will find a ay to face one of those guys I mentioned with the title on the line.
