One writer had a ballot with just Morris, saying that he refuses to vote for anyone involved int he steroid era.
Ignoring that Morris' career overlapped with Maddux's for nine years, ignoring that Maddux looked NOTHING like a PED user, and ALSO ALSO ignoring that TIME RAINES HAD VERY, VERY LITTLE TO DO WITH THE PED ERA.
Here's my "ballet", with an star beside those who I think will actually get in.
Maddux Bonds Clemens Thomas Glavine Mussina Bagwell Schilling Raines Piazza
Maddux, Thomas, and Glavine make it.
If I had unlimited votes, I would consider voting for the pitcher on the ballot that contributed the most to the 1992/93 Toronto playoff runs: Mike Timlin.
I am why James is crying.
Go Pack Go! Owner of one (1) share. (8-7-1, NFC North Champions.) Let's Go Riders! Owner of one (1) share. (11-7, Champs!)
1) Greg Maddux ... the most deserving name on a Hall of Fame ballot in years. Has never been mentioned in PED discussions, meets all the numbers, great character guy, brilliant, dominant, what else is there to say?
2) Barry Bonds ... greatest hitter of the modern era.
3) Roger Clemens
4) Tom Glavine
5) Frank Thomas
6) Jeff Bagwell
7) Curt Schilling
8) Mike Mussina
9) Tim Raines
10) Mike Piazza
WOULD ALSO VOTE FOR IF NOT FOR STUPID ARCHAIC VOTING RULES
Larry Walker, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Jeff Kent, Fred McGriff, Edgar Martinez
WOULD NOT VOTE FOR 15TH BEST PLAYER ON ANY TEAM THEY EVER PLAYED ON

And he plus one other person cost Biggio his spot - Biggio was two votes short.

Yup. As a Twins fan I loved Jacque Jones, but no way does he deserve a vote. I'm happy that Maddux/Glavine/Thomas got in. Biggio got robbed and its a travesty that Bonds and Clemens aren't in.
Maddux, Thomas, Glavine, Raines, Biggio, Bagwell, Piazza, Bonds and Clemens were locks for me. That left a real dogfight for the tenth spot between Mussina, Schilling, E-Mart, Trammell and McGwire --- all deserve it. Frankly, I'm very open to voting for Walker and McGriff too, so this max-10 rule is garbage. It already cost poor Biggio a spot in the Hall, though surely he gets in next year, right?
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball
ESPN is reporting (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=240903110) that Kevin Brown broke his left hand punching a wall during a loss Friday night. I just can't help but laugh at anyone who is stupid enough to do this or anything like it. Tim
