I mean, I thought it was actually pretty good. Not great, but good. I've more or less given up on DC and the "new" 52, so I didn't touch Forever Evil (by the way, if anybody is reading that, how was it?), but Marvel's big event was pretty rewarding. It was a space opera of the sort that I like a lot, and my main problems with it were that 1)it cribs pretty liberally from similar but much better sources, and 2)it was basically two only tangentially related stories happening at the same time. The main arc, which steals openly from Annihilation is over by issue 5 and is by far my favorite part of the story. It features some generic overpowered bad guys who are all gone by the end of the series, but it's fun to see the Avengers and all the star-faring empires come together and eventually kick the shit out of them. The second part of the story features Thanos, and despite the name does not crib from Infinity Gauntlet, but rather the Infinity Gems story with Adam Warlock that preceded that much more famous comic. That's the one that Inhumanity is spreading out from, and I thought it was dull, pointless, and tremendously anticlimactic. There were better ways to get Marvel where it wanted to be with the Inhumans, and, like a lot of things, it ignores fundamental aspects of the Inhuman people just so that Marvel can recreate what it already had with mutants. It makes me wonder if they're just doing this so that the movies have a version of mutants that they can use.

Like I said though, I thought it was good, not great. All the best beats are recreations of stuff from other, better stories, but the pastiche is still fun, and this comic has Captain America in it, which is always a plus. What did you guys think?

I enjoyed the it as a whole, it was good fun even if the ending left me a bit flat. It is nice to see that the Avengers are now recognized as the biggest and baddest fighting unit in the Universe; with Cap leading the way as strategist for the entire universal fleet. Just like Age of Ultron before it the end of Infinity ended up feeling like just another set up for the next big event.

I'm definitely more disillusioned with DC. Not much to enjoy there, besides Animal Man and Swamp thing. I'm so far behind on ALL that stuff.

Age of Ultron and Infinity (what I read so far), seem similar in that they have great starts that really hook me, and then just moderately good endings. I still have a couple infinity things to read.

I really liked Infinity. To me, it's less of a comic book story and more of an epic tone poem, and I read it as such. Big, bombastic moments, grand scope, details schmetails. To me, the most memorable moment was Thor's negotiations with the Aleph (nor Nihilo or whatever Builder that was) that ended in the expected but hilarious fashion. Probably my favorite Thor moment now.

A lot of big, crazy shit happened. What I remember best are those beats and moments, like Thor, and Cap's smile afterwards: "Now we win." The Battle of the Corridor. The Avengers logo flying on every world. The Cull Obsidian and later Thanos threatening Black Bolt in his throne room. The destruction of Attilan, which was also hilariously over the top since it also annihilated New York City beneath it (then also hilarious, the panels at the end of Infinity with the Avengers doing construction work to help rebuild the city.) Hey, remember how Marvel New York was so devastated by 9/11? Attilan smashing New York as a gazillion times that destructive. Oh well.

I tweeted about Infinity pretty extensively over the past several months. I wish I complied those. I had a lot of Infinity jokes that I've now forgotten.

I enjoyed Infinity more than Avengers vs. X-Men or any event DC has done since Invasion, though Infinity did feel like it lasted an infinity.

Wait, wasn't the abuse of time travel by the heroes of Earth that lead to Age of Ultron, Galactus eating the Ultimate Universe, and the All-New X-Men being stuck in our present one of the reasons why the Builders were seeking to destroy Earth? But the Avengers won the war so... uh, problem solved!

Apparently not. This was just act 1 in Hickman's story.
The incursions as they are talked about in New Avengers (before Infinity but they were mentioned -during- as well) are still taking place and the time travel thing will still come back to haunt 'em all.

I liked Infinity a lot and actually really liked how the two parts of the story tied in. It makes sense that someone attacks earth when the Avengers are gone. And who better than Thanos. And for once, the bad guys actually scored some wins including destroying parts of Wakanda.
The Cull Obsidian looked bad ass (the look and feel of guys like Corvus Claive and Ebony Maw was just creepy) and it took some effort to take down.

And I don't fully agree with it just leading to the next event. More like a new status-quo.
I don't see Inhumanity being reversed and/or forgotten completely in a few months from now.

In other news. I am liking how Galactus is kicking ass in the Ultimate Universe (for now?)

Okay, I haven't been reading Marvel for almost a year now. Did they really bring incursions into the MU proper? I thought it was just something made up for the Facebook game, which I play all day long. I'm surprised by this.

Forget it Josh... it's Cerebustown.

I have to say I hated it. Hated, hated, hated it. I was already predisposed to hate it because I hate continuing something outside its original medium. I've always felt things like Star Trek and Star Wars novels don't count.
