File this under G for 'giant waste of time.' Kudos to the president and Democrats for not knuckling under to the GOP's idle threats. The Republicans ended up looking like complete idiots.

"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball

Not sure how much was learned. Debt ceiling was only extended for 90 days, so it sure seems like we are still in government-by-manufactured-crisis mode to me.

The Bored are already here. Idle hands are the devil's workshop. And no... we won't kill dolphins. But koalas are fair game.

The two things that struck me were the GOP coming out and saying they were happy they were able to protect sequestration. Isn't that the same thing they tripped over themselves to blame on Obama when it happened? Now they're protecting it and happy to claim it?

I've heard a bunch of them also say this will just lead to another crisis in a few months. Um, you manufactured this crisis. The only way it leads to another one is if you learned absolutely nothing from it and try again.

Yeah, if I am the chair of the GOP, I am not sure how much I want to jump into this fight. It might be time to actually have that come to Jesus meeting they said they were going to have after 2012. Unfortunately, it will turn into another Tea Party rally. The real lesson that could be learned here is how long is the memory of voters. We will find out next year.

30% of the candidates don't believe in evolution. Plase let one of the other 70% win the nomination.
