It's rather disappointing that WCW didn't take Bobby Heenan's comment: "Yeah, but WHOSE SIDE IS HE ON?" and run with it. "Heenan, how did you know he was going to betray us, anyway? Are you part of the nWo?"
TITLE CHANGES
WCW United States Heavyweight Championship
This is Ric Flair's fifth official reign with the U.S. Title and sixth actual reign; WWE doesn't recognize a house-show change that took place in 1980. However you count them, it's without dispute that this is his first U.S. Title reign in 16 years.
Flair's win ended the 160-day reign of Konnan which began with a win over One Man Gang on the 1/29 edition of Main Event. Konnan's reign was the longest since Steve Austin's reign of 240 days from December '93 to August '94, and incredibly, no one would match the 160-day mark until Orlando Jordan's 173-day WWE reign in 2005!
Flair would eventually have to surrender the title due to injury; the date Wikipedia gives for that is September 1, though that could be a placeholder date. The title would remain vacant until December 29, when Eddie Guerrero defeated Diamond Dallas Page in a tournament final at Starrcade.

Related aside -- the other night on SportsCenter, they were going over the highlights of the Cardinals-Braves game. They flashed back to the one-game playoff last year where the umps made a controversial call and fans littered the field with trash. The anchor said something like "And down comes the trash, like when Hulk Hogan turned his back on the fans and formed the NWO."

173 days, upon when Jordan was defeated for the title in 34 seconds by ABSOLUTELY NO ONE.
