They played that twice for us at the Arrow panel at Comic Con. The Black Canary is Caity Lotz (imdb.com), aka Dinah Drake. Just like Yao Feng was actually the first Green Arrow and not Oliver Queen, Dinah Drake is the first Black Canary and not Laurel Lance. But the producers indicated Laurel's journey to becoming Black Canary would begin next season.
Wow very interesting view from the celebrity's point of view. Yeah, most of the time you have to pick if you want to go to the Panel OR you want the autographs. I think it's impossible to get both. I think the autograph is better since you get to ask them questions face to face instead of lining up and maybe not even get to ask them anything. The celebs are really personable. I did the Veronica Mars autographs (without Kristen Bell >:( )and everyone was cool as hell even though the bastards from Game of Thrones rolled in during our autograph session and everyone at the Con were trying to take pics of Daenarys (including me) above the WB booth.
Is it? There were press releases everywhere about it "spoiling" it last week. Is it a spoiler to say Summer Glau also joined that cast of Arrow. That was announced a week ago.
Will it be a spoiler when they announce who's playing Batman in Superman/Batman?
More spoilers from the panel then:
Brother Blood and Bronze Tiger (played by Michael Jai White!) will be villains in Arrow season 2.
The spoiler for me isn't so much the cast members as it is that Black Canary = Dinah Drake. It's disappointing if they're saying that without some "who is it?" mystery.
Well, it's not going to be a mystery. The Black Canary can't possibly be Laurel. Her character isn't in any way set up to want to be a vigilante either physically or emotionally. I guess the mystery, if you can even call it that, will be "Dinah Drake? Who the hell is that? How will that work?"

Though I didn't realize it at the time, in hindsight, it would have been possible to do that for Arrow. If I'd been willing to line up at 6am to try for the lottery for autographs, I could have done both. I walked into Ballroom 20 easily during The Vampire Diaries panel and stayed for Arrow. If I'd done the lottery, I could have left the Arrow panel, gone downstairs to the WB booth, and met the cast for autographs. But I wasn't willing to get up early again on Saturday after lining up at 4am on Friday to get into Hall H for the full day of panels for Veronica Mars, Riddick, Kick-Ass 2, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Sony/The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Comic Con is about making hard choices, planning, and executing. As it was, I managed to see and do about 90% of what I wanted, which made for an extremely successful Con.

I lined up at 4am for the Game of Thrones autographs on Friday and I was 5 people behind when they ran out. I kept thinking had I waited at 3 AM I might have got it. Saw a lot of people disappointed in picking a non-winning ticket, though. I waited at 2AM for Hall H Saturday. Was so worth it even though it was cold as hell by the dock near the Assassin's Creed pirate ship. Yay, pay over $300/night for hotel at the Marriott Marquis San Diego just to live like a homeless person!
But back to Arrow talk. I went to the John Barrowman panel at the Indigo Room and I only know him from Arrow and not Doctor Who or anything else and boy was that a shocking panel. Malcolm Merlyn was very flamboyant, crazy as hell, over-stimulated. Hope there were no kids in the audience.

Did they specify at the panel that the TV character will be named Dinah Drake? I only ask because they've already established that TV Laurel is Dinah Laurel Lance.
And it doesn't preclude her from being "Dinah Drake" either. Taking the name Dinah, if in fact she does, gives that extra shiv to Laurel since her full name is Dinah Laurel Lance.
If Tim promises to completely warp every song he does from now on like he did this week I will vote for him forever, and if he gets the least amount of votes, I will demand he just performs the next week anyway.
