This is not at all the amazing Dan Harmon thing I expected to be talking about tonight.
Dan Harmon just told the audience of his podcast Harmontown that he has been asked to return to Community!
This was rumored when Community was picked up for season 5, but, like, an obviously fake, hit-baiting, too-good-to-be-true rumor, right? I mean, how? Why? Who cares. Do it. Make it happen. Not gonna speculate on anything creative until you do. Just do it. Make it happen. What!
I know firsthand that it was definitely fake when reported. He's been working on at least three different projects, including the Rick and Morty cartoon which was picked up by Adult Swim.
I could see them asking him to return, and maybe he'd accept, but it's likely one of those things that gained traction just by being a rumor initially.
A couple weeks ago he addressed the rumors on the podcast and said that he hadn't actually heard from them at all at that point. They basically floated the rumor that they were considering asking him to come back. He imagined that was just one more chance to screw him over: "Hey, I heard you guys want me back." "No, we still hate you. But if you want to come back so bad, how about you beg for it!"
I'll be interested to hear his words exactly on where things stand when the new podcast goes live.

Oh my, the plot thickens. Dan Harmon and Chris McKenna were asked to return. (deadline.com) And Community has no showrunners. David Guarascio and Moses Port are gone. The article also says this is "expected to be the final season".

Can this mean that Dino Stamatopoulos can return too? If only to write.
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.
