I thought Michael McGillicutty was the worst ring name I'd ever heard until I heard Curtis Axel. Poor Joe Hennig just can't catch a break in the name department.

Axel has to be a Larry "The Ax" Hemming tribute right?
"Curt Axel" would've been better but, well, there was another guy named Kurt with a pretty similar last name. Why not "Axe Curtis?"
I hope WWE is finally getting the hint (or remembering how pro wrestling worked for decades) that a good manager can generate heat for almost anyone. Axel's always been decent in the ring but was a black hole on promos --- with Heyman doing his talking, suddenly that's not an issue.
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball
Funny how Axel came out with CURT AXEL on the screen behind him, but Paul said "Curtis" and all the commentators said "Curtis" and his Twitter handle changed to @RealCurtisAxel (and for the life of me, I have no idea why you'd choose THAT over "CurtisAxel" - not to mention leaving "WWEMcGilliCutty" wide open for some squatter almost immediately - 'cause these dudes sure know how Twitter works!) and then whaddaya know, by the time he came out for the main event they'd changed his video wall name to CURTIS.
(What this REALLY means is they were all set to go with "Curt" but very late in the process Vince remembered he hadn't cut Curt Hawkins (and wasn't planning on doing it this week) and GOD forbid they have two dudes with the same first name, so....they'd rather call him Curtis than give him a loving tribute to his father which actually made some sense.)
BY THE WAY, explain how we get Booker T AND Sweet T in the same company, VINCE, because as far as I know, VINCE, those two have GOTTA be the same dude.
AND STARTING THIS MOMENT FROM NOW FROM THIS MOMENT ON THIS'LL BE THE MOMENT STARTING NOW OF THE GENESIS OF McGILLICUTTY
OH sweet Jesus! The memories rise o'er me and block out the sun. The nightmare's gaping maw overshadow me and descend to crush my bones and claim my body within the bottomless black sea.

I'm guessing Axl Keegan (fcwwrestling.info) gets a new name if he's ever called up. Unless the missing e makes all the difference.

"Curt Axel" sounds like one of the names Jericho would use to make fun of "Kirk Angel" back in 2000. I hope Joe gets a break this time with Heyman, because he really is a good talent they should be using a lot better. One thing that makes no sense to me is acknowledging his heritage, but also giving him a pseudonym. At least call him "Mr. Perfaxe" as a nickname or something.
Considering some of the RAWs we've seen since the post-WM RAW, I didn't mind this one.
Having the tag and US titles on some cool people helps. Although, I really feel like The Shield is getting away from what made them cool in the first place. Their gimmick isn't that they're "the best," it's that they're a team of vigilantes essentially fixing these worked pro-wrestling matches in the name of "justice." I feel like they're slipping like Punk slipped, and like Nexus slipped.
That said, all three of them are AWESOME and, like Punk, will survive anything because they have talent. At least Ambrose will.
HHH's worked shoot injury thing was lame. Don't care about Ryback-Cena again. Just have Cena slay this monster and give him someone more interesting.

Releasing Hawkins halfway through the show would have hidden this blunder a little more neatly. Blame JR for screwing up Benoit/Jericho for years.
I am still in the camp that it sounds like Kurt Angle and nobody realized it until they were saying it on live tv. Either way good job guys.
I am over-sensitive and a hater and a kewl smark and all, but I was bothered by Triple H's ringside collapse and medical attention as he sat right next to Lawler. I was greatly a'feared we'd get a variant of Shawn's in-ring collapse once Hunter bent over in the ring, and we did, and it felt weak. And there was Lawler. Right there. Just gave me the icks.
Daniel Bryan needs a singles angle right now and probably against Ambrose. That crowd was insane for him.
I like Zach's new tights.
Really thought Orton would finish Swagger with a head punt to parallel the Ziggler injury.

There really is no other monsters for Cena to fight. Which I'd the number one problem with the show not named HHH. I guess the donation to Nowski's charity gives them a free pass or they probably think it does. I have no idea what Shield wants or does anymore. The fans don't seem to care, so why should I.

This was probably the best Raw in weeks, mostly due to the six-man match. That was a good, high-intensity match, and they gave it enough time to play out. I'm even starting to feel like the Shield is established enough that if they were to lose the occasional match, it wouldn't take away from them. The other matches on the show were also pretty good. I'm also glad that others noticed the Curt/Curtis switch, because for a while there I thought maybe I saw it wrong the first time.
While this show was better in the ring, it still has a lot of the same problems I've been complaining about forever. There are too many recaps - I don't know why I even bothered to tune in for the first segment, since they replayed it no less than four times last night. The commentators will talk about anything OTHER than the match. And the continued schilling for "the app" is frustrating to the point of making me furious. Did you know that right now, instead of watching this match on your tv, you could be watching the Bellas watching this match on your phone? Why would you do that? Why would you encourage me to stop watching the show?
That Shield match was outstanding, I could watch D-Bry face off with any of them and not get tired of it.
It's a shame Hunter had to almost overshadow the night with his show-ending Fake Concussion (on the heels of Ziggler's Real one), and undercutting The Second Re-Genesis of McGillicuddy.
(Whatever happened to Axel's old tag partner? The star of The Call? Where's *he* been lately?)

I caught that too...oy. Well at least it wasn't RVD, which Twitterers were *so* sure of.
I've read the guy *does* have a good rep as a worker, he's who Rocky worked out with in the ring when he made his comeback.
A generic 'please hate me' heel promo from Ryback. Nothing special, and it isn't going to get him over.
The thing is, if master of heel-dom CM Punk couldn't get heat from the crowd going against Cena, then how they expect Ryback to do it is beyond me.
I know that they think turning Ryback and still somehow having a face Cena put him over is their easy out, but if they really want this feud to the making of Ryback, they need to pull the trigger on some sort of double switch at some point in this feud. Cena's at the stage in his career where he's bigger than the title, and if they're intent on him being champion, his only role should be as the heel putting over the next face. Sure, you can have a face v face feud where Cena puts over the next guy, but it's never going to be as effective as having the heel incumbent put over the upstart face. It's why JBL was a heel going into WM21. It's why HBK was a heel going into WM14. It's a tried and true formula.
It's not going to happen of course, which is why Ryback isn't going to benefit from this feud as much as he should.
Well, we have been wanting them to push new guys, and that is what they did last night. Axel, Shield, Ryback, Big E, Fandango, and even Titus were featured prominently. It might not be the guys you want, but they are new guys. Too bad Axel's push was overshadowed by HHH at the end. If you are going to do a concussion angle, why not do it with the current World Champ? Does HHH even know who Ziggler is?
Regarding the Shield's motivation, the whole injustice bit was a lie, it's what heels do to get what they really want, titles and success. I also hope to see Bryan challenge Ambrose. Has anyone ever stayed over as much as DB while the company does not seems to care about him all that much?

Now would be the perfect time to match Del Rio to Zeb Coulter. That would be the basis of a really nice stable. Add a renewed heel Tensai and Wade Barrett, and I'd watch all that mess.
