The Mother is played by Cristin Milioti, who I only recognize from an awesome spot on 30 Rock
I have to imagine that if you stuck around with the show this long, then you're not going to drop it now. Actually, that may not be true. Rumors are that Barney and Robin's wedding weekend will play out over the course of the entire final season, 24-style. That might drive long-time fans away. I think that would be ballsy, but I would love to watch that.
This season finale's was not quite good, save for the final two minutes, Casey Wilson and Keegan-Michael Key. I understand that Marshall's judgeship and Robin's locket sets the stage for the final season, but how they were introduced was so contrived.
This season overall was pretty good, and it had a top 10 all-time episode ("The Time Travelers").
I thought this season was overall very weak, a few good eps (such as the aforementioned Time Travelers) aside. HIMYM clearly has been running on fumes for at least a couple of seasons; it's a shame that the show only started getting the big ratings now rather than when it was in its 2005-07 prime.
If they do the "whole season is 48 hours before the wedding" gimmick, that's at least an interesting way of freshening things up. And now finally we've met the Mother!
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball
Doing it in 48 hours would be good as stretching things out are getting overdone. It would still give them chance to make little side trips. "Kids, while we waited for five minutes, we talked about that ten day trip to blahblahblah..and a goat!"
I am sick of Ted's love for Robin. Other than that I still like the show.
I did hear a rumor as well that the show is going to switch from Sagat to the mother narrating her life to the point, she meets Ted. It frees Codie to do some SHIELD episodes. I thought this season was ok, they at least they moved things forward and I loved the bachelor party episode for the Karate Kid reunion. I will say Ted has now become a chain around the show especially with Robin. Then again, anything with Allyson Hanning is going to get me to watch and the fact, SMG is going to be on after her makes my Buffy heart swoon.
The Wee Baby Sheamus.Twitter: @realjoecarfley its a bit more toned down there. A bit.
I have watched from day 1 and will stay on until the end. However, I am sick of Ted's love for Robin. She has told him countless times she does not love him. She is engaged to one of his best friends. Time to get a clue Teddy West side.
The show wrapping up next season is perfect timing, if not a season late. Two open issues: the goat and the slap bet. I know Marshall got five originally and then three added for Barney not having to wear the duck tie for a year. I believe he has two left. Could one be at his wedding? Wow, that would be something!
Either way, I will watch next season and then tip my cap to them. It was, for the most part, a above average show that I enjoyed and got a lot of laughs from. With the state of the American sitcom, that is a pretty good deal.

Sagat!
Is there an IMDB listing for what lotjx thinks everyone's name is?
I kid. I loved the episode. Maybe it's the buildup of 8 years, but I already have a crush on Cristin Milioti.
The mother is Dan Humphrey?!?!? Crazy! That 53 hours idea is either intriguingly ambitious or them painting their masterpiece of feet dragging after years in apprentice. It seems like you could do an arc early in the season leading up to Met'ing Your Mother and then spend the rest of the season telling the story of the two of them and her ingratiation into that group to close things out.

This might be the best sci-fi show space action I've seen. Reminds me a bit of FOX's "Above and Beyond" but surpasses it in script quality. The miniseries is a fine, fine production.
