As if Maryland were not screwed up enough, Lt. Gov Kathleen Kennedy Townsend(aka the sloooowwww Kennedy) is running for Governor and her nephew, Delegate Mark Shriver(who makes KKT look swift) is running for Congress. Topic for discussion; do you think that the Kennedy clan is good for America or good for screwing up America?

They´re the closest thing to a Royal Family we´ve got, so I think they´re great. Oh, the Politics? Well, KKT isn´t too bad, although I´d rather see Martin O´Malley in the Guv´s seat, and Shriver is pretty good (I don´t know where you get that he´s dumb. That really isn´t his rep. KKT on the other hand...).

Other Kennedys? I´ll always have a soft spot for Uncle Ted. Other than that pretty much useless.

The Bush´s, now there´s a clan that´s good for screwing up America.

Robert was good, I like JFK till I read books about him (pure idiot thing he did..... constantly banged a hot Easter-German woman -- while East Germany was our ENEMY). I have a soft spot for the old school Kennedys, but the new one's suck, espcially Ted. I do admire that JFK broke the mold on religion, being the first non Protestant president (even though soooooo many people try to make Catholicism and all the Protestant branch offs totally different when they are more similar than different).

Go back to Canada, ya commie bastard. (Kidding... mostly...)

I live in MA, so you can take your soft spot for the Kennedys and their "royalty" and put it right back in your pocket. Politics in Massachusetts have all the intellectual fire of a Jr. High popularity contest. I think this reflects just as poorly on my fellow Taxachusetts residents as it does on Teddy, et. al, but that's another point.

And anything that encourages people (idiots) to vote for reasons other than, well, reason, sucks. The fact that the Kennedy name is worth more than an intelligent opinion or actual qualification is a sad commentary on the voting public.

And how can you have a soft spot for that alcoholic, murderous bastard Teddy? I guess driving women off bridges and getting away with it solely because of one's name is cool. After all, why should justice apply to everyone?

COnsidering the government murdered his two brothers... Teddy boy gets a lifetime "Get outta jail free" card as long as he keeps quiet.

PalpatineW, you're dead on, though. I do have a soft spot for one Kennedy though... John Jr. The guy FINALLY passes the Bar exam on his sixth try, gets out in the world, makes a name, starts to get out from under the shadow of his father being "liquidated" by his own subordinates... Then he spreads himself over four towns in a plane crash. Ain't that a BITCH?!

The saddest thing is that Moe is also dead on. The Kennedys ARE the closest thing America's got to a "Royal Family"... Damn.

*Note to Scott Summets: A main point of contention/sore feelings/anger/other bad stuff is Catholicism giving equal authority to traditions of the clergy as to the Bible. This is a sore enough point that some want Catholics denounced as a non Christian cult.

"All born equal unless you're Canadian
Then halfway through decay like Uranium
You define what's death-defying
Get the most out of life or at the least die trying
Are you Evil Knievel jumping a train?
Or running with scissors like Frasier Crane?
Have really good times doing really bad things
‘Cause the show ain't over ‘til the fat lady sings
Like Elton John with his candle in the wind
It's hard to blow out a flame as big as him
But we've all got to Wang Chung with the Grim Reaper
Whether you're Einstein whether you're Beaker
Death is certain so it's definitely worth flirtin'
Don't expect a bright light no just curtains
Life is like a penis most people don't know it
But most people suck so they usually blow it"

Yes the Kennedy's made a fortune on bootlegging. Thet introduced them to the mob. That led to JFK banging Sam Giancana's girlfriend. That led to Dallas, etc.

Talking about Martin O'Malley, is the fact that I actually have met the man and had a conversation. Good guy(even if he is a Democrat) with ideas that he actually believes in. He can also talk in complete coherent sentences, which is always a bonus.

I think the concept of hodling the Kennedy's in a state of genuflection is nearing and end...(at least I hope so)

Uh, yeah. Ted is a *new* Kennedy? I love when people throw these "hip" pop culture phrases around and have no real clue what they mean. Ted was the third of the three Kennedy brothers. He was involved in politics at the same time John and Robert were. But I'm sure you'll tell me I'm wrong and that *your* definition of "old school" is probably something way different (and if that's the case you should clarify when you post it in front of a mass audience like this).

Because I clicked on his bio and read the following: "Birthday Monday, November 28, 1983 (18 years old)."

Here you go, Guru. It's not *news*, per se, but it's a semi-recent Kennedy interview. I can't seem to find anything post 1999, though, since Matt Drudge declared her career dead.

Does hosting a Game Show Network original count? She's the host of "Friend Or Foe" now, a show which is probably a better concept than its execution.

I know what you mean EastCoastAvenger. The dumbest thing a lot of people I know think is that just because I am a Catholic, I want our government to give all power to the Pope. I live in the South so I hear a lot of that.... I realize I am young and that Ted has been around for a long time, but I tend to think (based really on my parents and family's stories) of the Kennedy's as the Camelot version of the ultimate jet-setting American family. Sure J.F.K. did scummy things, but he wasn't so outwardly hideous as Ted.

No thanks. It's bad enough being(way way way way WAY as in back several generations) related to them.
