I know, right? Some of the credits look so phoney. When they got to the music portion, they were listing everyone who was singing Jingle Bells.

Iron Man 3 was absolutely fantastic! Just like the first Iron Man movie, the comic timing all throughout really made it work. Stark's interactions with the kid, especially when we was pulling away in the car, were great and I loved the payoff at the end with the brand new, decked out garage. As soon as I realized what was happening with Mandarin/Trevor I loved it, and it just got better the more I saw. The payoff scene there with him in handcuffs but then realizing all the attention he was getting was perfect.

The helicopter attack was brutal and the oil tanker battle was fun and chaotic. Maybe it's because I don't see a lot of movies anymore, but I can't remember a better action sequence than the bit from the arrival of the horde of suits to the end of the tanker scene. It would have been a bit cooler to see more of the specialized suits, but it probably would have just been too much at once.

Sure, the shrapnel removal, Pepper's instant combat skills, and a zillion other things were obvious inconsistencies, but I don't care. I was entertained immensely by this mainstream Marvel comic book adaptation which was just as logical and consistent as any mainstream Marvel comic book.

I also saw the Wolverine and Thor trailers for the first time. Way too much doom and gloom in what I saw from both of them. The Iron Man movies are the best examples of what my ideal comic book adaptation is: colorful, action-packed, and hilarious.

To be fair, there was quite a bit of Doom & Gloom in the Iron Man Three trailers too, and it turned out to be quite good natured.

I just got back from IM3 and thought it was better than 2 but not even close to 1. The problem they have is IM1 was almost perfect. Everything about that movie, to me, was spot on. The bar is so high that no sequel will ever come close.

Yes, there were many plot holes but I still enjoyed it and thought it was a really good movie. I was glad there were no Avengers in this movie because RDJ can carry a movie n his own.

As for the end credits, I had to pee with about 20 minutes left in the movie. I did not know what the scene was at the end so I waited, jumping up and down to hold on. I was a little disappointed but maybe that was because I REALLY had to go!

As for the trailers, the only one shown that's have no interest in is After Earth. I was not a huge Star Trek fan growing up - watched them but can't quote them - and have not seen any of the movies, but after watching Into Darkness trailer, I am going to see the first one because that movie looks all sorts of awesome. And superman gave me chills. I am eben up for The Lone Ranger. This summers movies are going to be getting a lot of my money.

I think the biggest problem with IM2 was Jon Favreau was forced to put Black Widow, Nick Fury, and SHIELD in there to set up the Avengers and it kind of hurt the movie. IM1 was more stand alone except for the post-credits scene.

Yeah, I must have watched the Man of Steel trailer a million times at home and it still gave me chills at the theaters.

That's putting it lightly. I was pretty surprised at how comedic some of the movie was, especially a couple bits in the otherwise very serious final battle.

I'm one of those that had no familiarty or connection to The Mandarin prior to the movie, so the twist couldn't have bothered me the same way it did others. But I think I can empathize with the reactions of John and others.

Having said that, for a threequel, this was pretty freaking awesome.

Re: trailers, Man of Steel produced goosebumps watching it in a theater, but I better see an Ender's Game trailer very, very soon.

I forgot to mention that I thought up until the end that there was a double-twist with The Mandarin coming and the Slattery bit was the act.

Pretty surprised that wasn't the case, actually.

I have no personal connection to the Mandarin. I'd read a handful of Iron Man comics in my life prior to the last year and I've never read a Mandarin story. What annoys me moreso is Aldritch Killian was basically just the third go-around of the same idea: a jealous businessman who wants to be Tony Stark. Obediah Stane, Justin Hammer, Aldritch Killian. All the same basic idea done three straight times as the Iron Man heavy. That plus a series of creative choices Shane Black made all throughout the movie added up as not working for me.

I would have much preferred to see something different, what was teased since Iron Man 1: the Mandarin actually played out as the grand villain of the whole saga, as opposed to Hot Guy Pearce and his Extremis Burning Men. Hell, I would have even have preferred it if Aldritch Killian was nothing and Maya Hansen was the real villain like it was in the Extremis comic. But whatever.

Now that would've been awesome, especially when Jessica Chastain was supposed to play Maya Hansen. Instead... we get the Maya character threatening to kill herself and Killian just shooting her like she was nothing. Well, she didn't perfect Extremis any further than what Tony Stark wrote on the back of his name tag so...

(To be fair, Tony did perfect Extremis with ease during the closing monologue...and build the Arc Reactor in a cave with a box of scraps)

With a movie like this, like I said, the holes do not bother me unless they are glaring. I assume Tony Stark knows how to do just about anything since he built Iron Man in a cave with scraps and a battery keeping him alive. If he can do that, he can do anything.

And Pepper....well I am a little surprise she had NOT donned a suit before. If I were her, I would have definitely asked him to build me one.

And Brody leaving the fight? He is a soldier and his number one directive is to protect the President.

And I did not know enough about the Mandarin so the twist did not bother me. Although I loved the way Kingsly played it and wished he WAS the bad ass.

All in all, I really enjoyed it and would give it 4 out of stars.

That stuff I mentioned before about Shane Black's choices, here's a choice I'm glad didn't get chosen. Iron Man 3 almost had a sex tape subplot. (avclub.com) With Gwyneth. Whew.

Now fellas, let's maybe talk about a Black Widow sex tape subplot? Choices...

And if he had a backup suit he could have gotten the president out of danger much more quickly (without hvaing to perfectly time that Tarzan jump) regardless of whether or not he returned to help Tony.

Ditto plus a few tears. I really hope this movie doesn't do me like Singer did me with Superman Returns.

I enjoyed IM3 as did my kiddos. Wouldn't pay to go see it in the theater again, but was entertained.

I really enjoyed it. I'd been looking forward to it for awhile but thought it was almost as good as IM 1 (in a completely different way).

I just recently rewatched Dark Knight Rises and couldn't help but see a lot of parallels. Lots of time outside of the suit, Tony/Bruce losing everything to rise up in the end, etc. Of course as my wife pointed out after the movie, that's kind of the basic hero story. The mention of the Clean Slate, though, I'm not willing to chalk up to coincidence...

Here's my take on the two points from the end: Frist, Ninja Pepper. It seemed clear to me that was her under the influence of Extremis. We had just seen Guy Pearce doing some full on Shinobi stuff. Doesn't seem like much of a leap in logic to assume Extremis makes people into badass killing machines. Hence Pepper suddenly becoming a lot more competent in a fight.

As for Tony and his heart.... The way I interpreted his explanation was that he finally devoted time to figuring out how to safely remove the shrapnel from his heart. Not the same method he used on Pepper but actually focused on saving himself. Because as this movie showed, Tony was always one filled with self doubt and anxiety. If you want to take that one step further, those insecurities he had made him play the victim a little and he wanted the shrapnel there so he could be that victim. He thought the only way to start over in life (and no longer be the billionaire asshole) was the shrapnel/battery. It was only at the end of this recent experience that he realized he could completely start over. No more battery/shrapnel, no Mark 1-42, just Tony being Tony, with maybe one suit of armor thrown in.

So, in my mind, the shrapnel was always something Tony could have put his mind to removing, he had just convinced himself he couldn't and was dependent on it on a psychological level. That's why he had the blood poisoning, etc. Because he was never willing to explore the possibility of just removing it.

    Yup.

I thought this was only okay also. It certainly had the best acting performances with Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce added to the cast but I felt it just felt kind of flat and wasn't that fun.

I think it didn't help that my expectations for this movie were off. The trailers made it seem like this was going to be a dark movie like The Dark Knight and we never got anything close to that. I actually prefer light-hearted superhero movies but when you go to a movie expecting something dark you want to see something dark. It makes me wonder how many of this year's summer movies are going to have the same problem because I've been told Star Trek isn't very dark even though the trailer is clearly going for that feeling. The Superman and After Earth trailers seem overly dramatic as well.

I was terrified when I saw the boy becuase that character and subplot could have gone so very wrong.

I hated the slow-motion shot with the splashdown after the plane attack. That was a bad editing choice, and it made the moment cheesy.

If every Marvel movie after Avengers tries to outdo that film's last 20 minutes, that will make up for any shortcomings those films have beforehand.

Loved Guy Pearce's final look with the fire and tattoos. Nice villain design.

I enjoyed the film a lot. And we can add Pepper to the Avengers along with Rhodey.

Welcome home, men of the 2nd Bn, 127th Infantry, 32d "Red Arrow" Brigade, WI Army National Guard! Job well done in Iraq!

Liked it, but not as much as 1 & 2. Felt kind of confusing along the way.

Plus, the "Tony Stark will return" graphic at the end reinforced my vibe that this was Iron Man masquerading as Tony Stark playing James Bond, kinda. So when he tells Pepper he's "shaving down" his "distractions" when the suits asplode as Jarvis impletments Operation Clean Slate...is he done being Iron Man?

Oh, and the stuff with the TV trucks & choppers was so wrong, my fists were clenched. I know people who use that exact model dish on that exact model truck. Not only don't the back doors open to the edit suite area...but that dish isn't for Internet. You can't just break a damn wire up top and triple your WiFi upload speeds. Complete crap.

And wouldn't the FAA somehow have noticed news choppers somehow getting equipped w/ freaking rockets!?

Saw this and Star Trek: Into Darkness the same day. Starfleet wins this round.

I didn't stay through the credits, but knowing Shane Black, he was almost certainly fucking with you.

I don't much care what happens in any of these movies if they're gonna be this funny. Amazin' jokes. Like, made Hulk throttling Loki look like 2 Broke Girls.
