Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook will undergo surgery for a meniscus tear in his right knee, the team announced Friday.
There is no timetable for his return.
Westbrook was injured in the second quarter Game 2 of their first-round series with the Houston Rockets when he ran into Rockets guard Patrick Beverely. Westbrook was obviously upset and limped around for a couple of minutes but stayed in the game. Westbrook played 37 minutes in the game, scoring 29 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Do we really have to sit through two months of playoffs when the end result is looking more obvious by the day?
As someone who wanted to see Spurs vs. Heat in the finals, well, my wish is a step closer to happening. I just want to see Spurs/Heat in a game where both teams actually play their full lineups.
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball
