The Observer web page mentions this and says everyone is talking about this huge angle that ended up getting nixed. Anyone get their Observer yet who could fill us in on this? I haven't seen one mention of it anywhere besides Observer.com.

Yeah, I saw that too and was mildly interested.

Damn Brian Alverez and his Figure Four sales pitches!

An open letter to Andrew Gilkison from me: Sir, I am no longer pleased with your product and thus will not read it. I am the consumer and your product is not living up to my expectations. I could open up an Andrew Gilkison message board and cry about it, but that's a waste of my time. In the meantime, I would suggest you work on improving your product. Thank you.

Watching RAW and Smackdown doesn't cost anymore than your posts do. And so, like a good consumer, I'm tuning you out.

I let my Observer subscription run out, but from memory (pardon any minor errors) this is what I was told...

More or less, the "major angle" was going to be Cena going into Vince's office, confronting him and slapping him rather than Jericho. Cena would then take on Jericho and almost pin him a half dozen times before Jericho finally cheated to win.

This was the scheduled plan until someone, said to be Trips, went to McMahon and had it changed claiming that no one should touch Vince until SummerSlam in order to not take steam away from McMahon's fued with Hogan that should culminate then.

Almost everyone else, including Pat Patterson and Paul Heyman were livid as they came up with the angle and thought that it was a very good plan.

If it's true, does it really surprise anyone? HHH has been burying guys since he got back, and he's had huge influence with Vince since the DX days. If Hogan hadn't gotten all those face pops after returning, HHH would still have the title. Remember how his chase to get the Undisputed belt went from HHH vs. Jericho to HHH vs. Stephanie? The embarrassing dog shit segment... HHH and/or Stephanie on screen after every match... if this doesn't stink of the old Cliq days, then...

Vince v. Hogan at Summerslam? They're absolutely crazy and completely stupid if they do it that soon. If they were gonna do that, they'd have to turn Edge and blow off the Hogan/Team Canada angle in TWO WEEKS in order to have enough time to properly build to a Hogan/Vince match. And that would still leave the Edge/Jericho thing in the lurch.

It's something that needs to be saved for WM19 and built up over the long term, with Vince/Hogan mini-confrontations in passing every couple of weeks to increase the tension...

And if it's true that Triple H canned a Prototype angle with Jericho, should we really be all that surprised? He's been using political power to prevent Jericho from getting REALLY over forever, and now he's sticking his filthy nose into the chances of the new guys.

Vince, please... wake up and smell the coffee and realize it's people like Triple H that are the problem and not the solution...

Exactly whom has he "buried" since he got back? And don't tell me "Chris Jericho" because the Triple Illuminati theorists out claim Triple H buried Jericho long before that.

Then what? The "Clique days" involved the Clique protecting themselves and only wanting to wrestle one another, while positioning themselves at the top of the card. This has nothing to do with that. It all sounds like vague hearsay designed to further sour fans on Triple H to me anyway.

How did this "hurt" Cena? The outcome was still the same -- Jericho beat Cena by cheating and Cena got a series of near falls. A simple backstage vignette where Cena just slaps Vince wouldn't have changed much, if any -- because he's still just "some new guy" to the fans.

At any rate, not to knock Bower or his sources, but if that what was nixed, it sounds a little too insignificant to be considered a "major" angle, unless it was to result in McMahon vs. Cena.

I'm counting down to the days that Stephanie and Triple H break up. This can not continue with Triple H having this much power. I want to see Triple H jobbing to John Cena. I want Jericho and RVD to get a gigantic HHH like push. Will this day ever come?

HHH - That young man looks like Matt Damon! I must destroy him immediately... muh ha ha ha ha ha!!

Steph - His boyish face and height are no match for our superior breeding and artificially enhanced physiques. More baby oil, dear?

HHH - Soon, this company will be destroyed and we'll all be out of work. Bring me the head of Jeff Hardy while I rub my hands together in a diabolical manner.

Gee, I thought the fact that Jericho is a mediocre wrestler who doesn't particularly appeal to the majority of the fans is what kept him from getting over. But I guess HHH is responsible for Jericho being a short, marginally talented goober who blows a large percentage of his spots, eh Kelly?

I suppose your "solution" is to push guys that the fans care nothing about, and how have no particular spark or charisma, ala Jericho, over guys that the crowds go crazy for, and who have shown the ability to put out consistantly great matchs, like Triple H. After all, popularity and skill should ALWAYS come in second to the uniformed rantings of Internet Smarks.

I find it amazing how you went from "if this is true" to "DAMN THAT TRIPLE H, HE IS THE SOURCE OF ALL EVIL in about three sentances. I respectfully point out that you know precisely two things about the backstage workings of the WWE- Jack and Shit. So tearing down a great worker who has shown more guts and determination in ONE MATCH than Jericho has shown in his entire career- well, that's beyond silly. It's reprehensible.

Umm...Trips isn't a "great worker" anymore, IMHO. He hasn't really had that great a match since he came back from his injury. Jericho, on the other hand, was able to have a good match even with Hulk Hogan. And yes, he does have charisma - he's been A LOT more interesting than HHH recently.

I don't want to say that post was the biggest pile of crap I've ever read, so I won't, but come on man! Jericho is a mediocre worker? What does that make HHH then? That guy can barely even move. Jericho has no charisma? Guess what, I've never fallen asleep during one of HIS promos. Now, the argument about people not knowing what goes on backstage is true, I agree, but HHH is no better than Jericho, period. And to say Jericho has no spark with the crowd is ignorant. He's a heel now, he gets booed. Remember his face run? Remember the pops he used to get? I sure do. He still has that spark, he still has that thing that make people not want to get up and go to the bathroom during his matches. Maybe he's not the best worker in the company, but he's in the top 20, and he's got mic skills on par with just about everyone in that company. How does Jericho not show guts and determination? It's not HIS fault he hasn't gotten hurt in WWE(F). He broke his arm in Smokey Mountain, went, got a cast put on it, and wrestled that night. HHH hasn't done anything that 95% of that roster wouldn't do, he just got the video packages. Benoit hurt his neck (the injury that kept him out 12 months) 2 weeks before he left. I didn't see his "Beautiful Day" video packages. Hardcore Holly broke his arm, finished his match, didn't see his video packages. Give me a break, stop buying that hype. HHH used to be good, he's not anymore. He's not in Jericho's league anymore, and that "guts and determination" thing is a joke.

I don't mean to get away from the HHH discussion here, and maybe it's kind of late, but did I read that right? John Cena, who just wrestled his first match on WWE TV 3 weeks ago, was going to fed into a big fued with Chris Jericho, where Jericho wouldn't be going over cleanly? I think he'll be a great talent, but isn't that a bit too much, too soon? I'm amazed he's already was in a main-event so fast, but still. Then again, I could be completely wrong and this sort of angle wasn't going to be happening at all.

Basically, it seems that they think Cena has a pretty damn good chance of being the next "it" guy, and, unlike the other new folks (even Lesnar to a certian extent), this guy is "Their Guy," and so they'll push him to the moon as fast as they want if they think he'll get over. Which he just might, especially given that he has something very few others in the WWe have these days that's even more required than being good in the ring (which, from what I've seen, he is for a pretty green wrestler), and that's actual acting ability. So, they're actually gonna listen to someone and not bury him in the midcard until he loses all credibility, though I think Jericho counts as mid-card again now, but...that's another thread.

Just my observation, but isn't it strange that when Mr. Lesnar was pushed into the 'main picture' there was a near riot....

But when Mr. Cena is thrust upon our TV screens, not a word has been said about the 'over push' of this relative unknown?

or is it just me?

I like both guys. I'm glad we have a couple new guys to watch. And I KNEW Cena would be gold after watching him on that UPN show, 'Manhunt' ... I think that's what it was called.

He had that 'charisma' that the smarks talk about.

Maybe it's that damn fake crowd noise on Smackdown? It's a lot easier to tell Lesnar is bombing.

Lesnar didn't even come near a top guy for 2 months. Cena's faced Angle-Jericho and then both in his first 3 weeks. That's probably the main reason people aren't mad about Cena (I'm not thrilled, but such is life) but were about Lesnar. Lesnar wasn't overly good for those first couple of months because he was stuck into storylines that no one cared about. Cena, on the other hand, hasn't been stuck with that. Lesnar didn't really impress me into RVD match #2 and since then he's been gaining more and more steam with me. Cena's nothing special in my eyes. He's no better than most of that Smackdown roster, he just hasn't been ruined by crappy storylines that noone cares about yet.

Okay, in a rush...

Jericho is a good worker with talent who's waaay ovre
John Cena is a good worker with talent who's getting over so far...
Triple H is a good worker with talent and about 30 pounds of dead weight...and the weight that he put on while rehabbing. [Sorry, Stephanie weighs 130 pounds...not 30] He's also somewhat paranoid about his spot, as he sees how he previously got screwed [The MSG Incident] and how others high up got screwed [Bret Hart/Stone Cold], and is trying to make sure that he doesn't get screwed.
Stephanie is a marginally talented booker, at best, and needs to give the booking reigns to Shane, Heyman, Vince, Johnny Ace, or somebody else who's ACTUALLY WRESTLED.
Benoit is good.
Foley is God.
I am out.
