Richard Reid Fliehr, who wrestled as Reid Flair, is dead at age 24, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com. He was the youngest son of pro wrestling legend Ric Flair. The cause of death has not been revealed.
I know I don't have to say this to 99% you, but please indulge me so I can reach the other folks. PLEASE resist the urge to speculate. I'm sure we'll get plenty of that elsewhere, and you can go there if that's what you're looking for, but don't drag it here. I'm sure we'll have "facts" soon enough, but the truth is, there's nothing will ever explain a death at 24 to the satisfaction of anybody except the most heartless.
Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you... Between the health scare earlier and now this, rough, rough week for Ric. Much condolences to him and the rest of the family.
smark/net attack Advisory System Status is: Elevated (Holds; June 18, 2006) While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.
I remember seeing him as a kid on WCW and bein excited about a generation of Flairs that could hold dad's robe (not looking at you, David) A shame it never worked out for him. Condolences to Naitch and the family.

Well said ... let's remember that a mother & father lost a son, siblings lost a brother ... I can't imagine that kind of pain & heartbreak ... I hope people leave them alone & let them grieve in peace & privately.
I hope this isn't considered speculation, but many sources are reporting that the individual who called police was Ric. How terrible for him to find his son.
I was never a fan of the family angles, whether it be the the various ones Ric had with his family or the Hogan ones or any other ones (unless the others are actual wrestlers/in the business). But I do remember the Reid/David/Ric angle from years ago in the WCW. And the kid looked like he was having a good time. I read a bunch of his tweet over the last week or two and it seemed like it was all pretty fun for him. My thoughts are with their family.
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.
