It was more like Young Justice: Guess what you are missing out on now that we are canned. Maybe someone can get a kickstarter for this or something. Anyway, the episode before we saw the end of the Light/Reach alliance thanks to the Young Justice team. Now, we get the final battle between Black Beetle and Blue Beetle. Blue is now comfortable with the scarb and they are able to destroy Black Beetle after he owned Green Beetle. Unfortunately, there is a magnetic weapon about to destroy the Earth.

Lex Luthor finds a way to stop it, but not before the Flashes use Speed Force to stop the last one. However, we lose Kid Flash. Its a pretty heartbreaking scene as Artemis has to go to his family. The League is saved by SuperBoy and Miss Martian bullshiting the court into using justice to make money which works. The end sees Nightwing taking a break, Lex in charge of the UN, the YJ team becoming the Justice League and Savage dropping off WarWorld to Darkseid and hey look its G. Gordon there as well.

As an end, its pretty good, but you get the feeling they really thought they were coming back. There is no need to end it with a bunch of plotlines up in the air. Between this and Green Lantern, I was more wrecked and will miss Lantern more. Their end was satisfying. I don't blame the crew for that, but they should have been given another episode to at least wrap this up. YJ is a mix bag. When its good, its as good as JLU which to me is the MASH of cartoons. When its bad like the runaway storyline, its pretty annoying. The first season was great, this season was probably too much trying to shove a lot of people in that no one knows or cares about. Its good of DC to use this platform to get new Blue Beetle over as well as some of the other unknown young heroes. However, the real reason people watched is for the original cast who was pretty MIA this season. All in all, it will be missed especially with that giant open ended ending.

The Wee Baby Sheamus.Twitter: @realjoecarfley its a bit more toned down there. A bit.

Well, we all always knew that's where this was headed - G. Gordan Godfrey was essentially their way of saying, "Hey guys, Darkseid's on his way!" And it is intensely frustrating that they would cancel the show before it gets to its clearly intended climax. Green Lantern, in contrast, is a Bruce Timm production, and in case you hadn't noticed, this wasn't his first rodeo. That is a man who knows that every season - heck, every episode - could be the last one, and plans accordingly. They clearly didn't think Green Lantern was going to get a second season, let alone a third, so while there was still room to expand, we got a sad, but very satisfying conclusion to that story.

Edit - I also just realized that the death of Kid Flash was yet another homage to JLU, with Wally West disappearing into the Speed Force. Another plotline that they had no doubt intended to explore in a third season.

Yea, that thing about them not really needing a third season, let's pretend I didn't say that. Though, I'm not really sure the problem is a missing third second season as a missing 6 episodes. There's no reason for this season to be 20 episodes besides the show taking much to long to air and the people in charge wanting to be onto the next thing ASAP. They couldn't have been so sure they would get a third season to do a cliffhanger, but they could've thought they'd get the normal 52.

There was definitely enough resolved that it felt like a season ender, so I could see it being meant at that. But again, if you're cut to 20 episodes, why would you assume there's another season? Maybe you just tell the story because it's the story you want to tell, and hope people are okay with it?

One of the usual comic sites will have a wrap up interview explaining what the deal is this week, I'm sure.

Edit - I also just realized that the death of Kid Flash was yet another homage to JLU, with Wally West disappearing into the Speed Force. Another plotline that they had no doubt intended to explore in a third season.

I'm sure they would've gotten to finding Kid Flash in whatever was next - the scarab oddly saying 'cease' and Blue Beetle questioning what that meant was a clue - but I think anytime a Flash is running in a circle around an object which may end the world and sacrifices his life to make sure it doesn't happen, it's probably a reference to Crisis on Infinite Earth. The JLU one too.

Well, Greg Weisman said he's holding out hope for one more season, despite everything that's happened.

Talking to The World’s Finest fan site about the final issue of his Young Justice comic series, which arrives Wednesday, Weisman said, “I’m not writing an epitaph here. But the nature of the business is that you never know if you’re going to be picked up for more episodes or issues. So whether it’s Captain Atom, Gargoyles, W.I.T.C.H., The Spectacular Spider-Man or Young Justice, I always try to end each season or run at a good place to stop, with what I like to call open-ended closure. So with the Young Justice book and show, Brandon [Vietti] and I tied up enough threads that the audience/reader can feel satisfied, but we’ve left some questions unanswered, some threads dangling intentionally, so that we have the chance to come back. And I would love to come back to this world, these characters. Believe me.”

Um...he left A LOT of threads dangling, between Kid Flash's death, Vandal Savage's deal with Darkseid, Lex Luthor as the new UN rep, Superboy and Miss Martian's open-ended relationship, and Nightwing's leave of absence.

And yet, this STILL doesn't rub me as badly as the open plot threads he left on Spectacular Spider-Man with Harry/Gwen and Norman Osborn still lurking out there. Probably because Young Justice could reasonably be considered a happy-ish ending. The plot threads that WERE resolved were pretty satisfactory, even if the final battle with Black Beetle felt a bit anticlimactic. The world is saved, Blue Beetle and his scarab are at harmony, and the YJ team has been accepted by the Justice League as equals. That's a pretty happy ending, all things considered.

Still, considering the pace at which DC pumps out direct-to-DVD releases, I sincerely hope this isn't the last we've seen of this universe.

I'd like to think that the Robin/Wonder Girl relationship began after Robin noticed her rack while they were getting briefed.

Yes, I'm 12 years old.

Loved this show, sorry to see it go with so much more that could be done.

A week late but I finally caught up with GL & YJ's finales today. I thought GL was better, mainly because they weren't cramming in a million plots. While GL ended on a lovely note of "Hope," YJ just ended out an outstanding what-could-have-been teaser.

I'm also sad about the end of the DC shorts. They were really fun. Why isn't Amathyst its own show? Does DC hate money?

I asked the same question about Black Lightning. The dynamic of a black superhero with lightning powers that also has to balance being a single dad to two girls is a pretty fresh angle and the shorts were very entertaining.

We need to remember that the guy behind Young Justice was the same guy behind Gargoyles, including David Xanatos. Myth Archs and Xanatos Gambits are going to happen, it just so happens that the show got canceled.

Meanwhile, Timm's been through this before with JL and JLU. He knows better than to plan for multiple seasons, so he sets things up with something that could double as a season and/or series finale. We saw that with "Epilogue" and "Alive/Destroyer" in JLU.

Out of the two series, I loved Young Justice to start, and still very much love the show. But GL overtook it and totally won me over in all respects. That ending was pitch perfect, and the Blue Ring providing closure yet a hook for the future.

One may say that final scene gives the rest of us hope that in this day and age of kickstarter we may see a direct to DVD film of GL:TAS.

It's not even so much that it's been on for so long, but it's amazing that it's still going at a relatively high quality.
