Rob Thomas reacts on Entertainment Weekly. (insidetv.ew.com)

Although I like this Tweet more.

The rest of his "the cast hates the fans" tweets are funny too.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

So, roll call of who gave and how much?

I did $35. The documentary was tempting me toward $50, but I figure I'll see that somehow.

Isn't he still on Flashpoint, that Canadian-produced cop show with the Pink Ranger? Or is that just in endless reruns on ION?

Endless reruns. The show had it's finale a few months ago, so he should (?) be free for this.

I am amazed and proud that this thread has so many replies. For a cult favorite, that is very impressive.

First Arrested Development returns, and now Veronica? Are there any other of my favorites from 10 years ago they can dust off?

Update (for anyone who didn't Kickstart and isn't receiving the updates):

They're past $3 million now. That's another million added in the last 22 hours and up to over 47,000 backers.

Rob Thomas said they're working out new high end prizes, including a New York premiere and an Austin, TX premiere.

Five million seems likely. Will they top off there? Is ten possible? Or even more?

An average Hollywood studio film costs at least $30,000,000 as a production budget and Veronica Mars Movie is going to be a much cheaper production than that, unless the inconceivable happens and they manage to pull in a million dollars a day. Still, they'll have at least double the budget they planned for. At least.

29 days to go...

The Wrap (thewrap.com) reports Warner Bros. gave VMM the official green light. The production budget will come entirely from Kickstarter. The studio will only providing marketing and distribution.

I'm going to chip in once the idiots in Washington have come to an agreement to fund the government for the rest of the fiscal year (translation: once I know that I'm going to keep getting paychecks in April). Hope someone ponies up for a New York premiere, though (it won't be THAT kind of cheddar).

Of course someone asked Joss Whedon about a Firefly Kickstarter. (comingsoon.net)

Originally posted by Joss, the Tom Hagen of Marvel

"My fourth feeling when I read about [it] was a kind of dread," says Whedon, who admits he was, at first, overjoyed to learn about the success of the Kickstarter. "Because I realized the only thing that would be on everybody's mind right now. I've said repeatedly that I would love to make another movie with these guys, and that remains the case. It also remains the case that I'm booked up by Marvel for the next three years, and that I haven't even been able to get Dr. Horrible 2 off the ground because of that. So I don't even entertain the notion of entertaining the notion of doing this, and won't. Couple years from now, when Nathan [Fillion]'s no longer Castle and I'm no longer the Tom Hagen of the Marvel Universe and making a giant movie, we might look and see where the market is then."

"I think anything we could get off the ground would be appreciated by the fans," he continues, "But what form it would take is I think under some debate. For me, [Kickstarter] doesn't just open the floodgates. God knows, things are cheaper now than when we made even 'Serenity'. Good effects can be done in a different manner. Nor is that universe all about spectacle either. But it is a tad more expensive — and a little all-consuming! And of course, there's the other fear: What if it's not that good? I can do something that's not that good — that's fine. But if I do that and it's not that good, I'm going to feel really stupid."

I totally forgot Joss guest starred on Veronica Mars way back when.

So no Firefly. And that also means no, dare I even say her name...?

Buffy.

Sorry to mislead. The Party Down movie isn't filming, but everyone in the cast talks unusually optimistically about it as a foregone conclusion, like they've been meaning to do it and they'll get around to it any day now. Which always seemed odd to me, since VM was getting hard no's on its movie at the same time, and I always saw Veronica's cult audience as bigger than PD's. I think it had something to do with Warner Bros refusing to make the movie but refusing to relinquish the rights, whereas PD isn't quite so shackled. Or maybe it's just easier to get a comedy made (pitch: it has jokes revolving around a premise) than a detective mystery teen drama.

I am reverse polarity you. $35 seemed about right, then I figured I was basically buying the DVD for another $15. Also I was swept up in the moment and the movement. Anyway, as far as I know, I've got script approval now.

Rob Thomas distilled: 2 million's cool, but you know what's really cool? 5 million.. (They're at $3.2mil now, he's got a shot.)

This show on the list of shows I mean to watch someday but still haven't. If you did want to watch it, apparently all the episodes are for free on thewb.com. One letter off!

The first real in depth interview with Rob Thomas about Kickstarter and the movie. (hitfix.com) I think most questions are answered here.

Yes, as Associate Producers we get assigned the 'good' parking spaces and we sit at the 'cool' table at the WB Commissary.

I actually have access to the WB lot. If they end up filming there, I can represent The W's associate producer conglomerate and throw our weight around appropriately.

Don't know whether it was a favorite of yours or not, but Shawn Ryan and Ted Griffin have been saying that if the VM thing worked--and obviously it did--they might try to do a Terriers movie. THAT, I'd put in good money for.

Europe, Australia, and New Zealand (kickstarter.com) are now open for Kickstartering if anyone wants to help push Veronica Mars past $4 million. They're almost there! 16 days to go. Five million looks to be the top off point.

In the interest of now achieving the goal of having the most backers in Kickstarter history (they need 23,000 more in the final 10 days) a $1 level for backing the Veronica Mars Movie has been added. (kickstarter.com)

C'mon. A dollar. Pitch in a dollar. You know you're not gonna sponsor that starving kid in Africa anyway. (Or the Baron Von Raschke documentary.)
