But will WWE let him be El Generico? I can imagine Vince/management saying a tall white guy has no business wearing a mask, let alone claiming to be from Mexico.
They'll repackage him and call him Eric Generic (if he's lucky) and his charm is gone. He won't be allowed to wrestle his current style either.
If it's true, good for him. I hope he succeeds. But I feel it won't be easy. See also; Scotty Goldman.

Even if it is a Triple H signing, there's still a good chance that he'd be repackaged, although I'm not sure they'd do anything as drastic as completely redesigning him. More likely, they'll want to do something with him that the company can own the trademark on.

I believe it was Meltzer that wrote that a lot of ROH wrestlers contracts were up and they had sent out feelers to the WWE and TNA so I'm sure pwinsider is right that there will be more signings. I think this is a great signing as El Generico is a great all around performer.

And that's on top of the rumors about Shelton Benjamin, MVP, and John Morrison all coming back. Could make for a fun Rumble. Though more with the old WWE names than non-Shelton indy guys; they aren't going to debut, like, Alex Shelley in the Royal Rumble.

I'm predicting Bobby Generic. "And it's pronounced GEN-uh-rick."
(Bonus points to those who get the reference.)
"Nor-MAAN Smi-LAAY".
It'd be nice if they let him keep his current character, but you know Vince will want perpetual copyright on the character if he joins as El Generico.
So this may all be a "mute" point. (And I laughed when I read that, thinking, "Somebody actually got paid for writing that.")
Shelton, MVP and Morrison returning, I could really get behind.

Only if he gets a female manager with the catchphrase "gee golly, dontcha' know".
(Side note, I discovered said show was on Netflix Streaming.)
Ding ding ding! Howie Mandel's "little Bobby" character got a short-lived animated series where we discovered the family's last name was Generic. And that would be a GREAT catchphrase!

What an interesting way to describe Bobby's World.
