I...I promised a lot of people I'd see it with them!!!
Also I'm kinda crazily obsessed with Les Miserables for going on twenty years now. I've seen it on stage five times and know the songs like the back of my hand. Needless to say I loved the movie. If Anne Hathaway doesn't get the Oscar for this then something's wrong.
Am I in Horseville? Because I'm hearing nothing but naysayers!
I've seen it three on stage and four times in the theaters. Keith has me beat.
Loved it EXCEPT for Anne Hathaway. I was annoyed by her performance, honestly. I can think of a half dozen actresses who should have played the part of Fantine and I am disappointed that they went with her instead. I didn't like her very much. I found her performance hammy.
Wolverine made me cry, damnit. I was totally not expecting him to be as good as he was. I knew he could sing but besides that, I thought he carried himself remarkably well. He was completely into the character.
Borat stole the show, though. Master of The House is a total showstopper on stage, but Borat and Helena Bonham Carter's performance was a huge stand out.
The rest was... acceptable. Even Russell Crowe wasn't as terrible as you'd think. I did give out an unintentional laugh at his death because he just had to hit the middle wall in the river and break his neck, and the breaking sound was very loud over the sound of the rushing water and I just couldn't help myself but laugh
Hathaway was fantastic but I was surprised how small her role actually was. Can she really win the Supporting Oscar with such a relatively tiny amount of screentime? (Then again, she might officially win for Les Miz but it'd really be a combined effort for her roles in both Les Miz and Dark Knight Rises.)
Beyond the big names, Eddie Redmayne and Samantha Barks were both outstanding. Wouldn't be surprised to see them sneak Oscar noms as well.
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball
LOVED it. Although it made me cry like seven separate times. Thank goodness for free refills at the theater.
"Y'know, it has been a year since the last [Royal Rumble], I'm very sketchy on this, so bear with me here. If I Brogue Kick that small little head of yours over the top rope, and your body stays in the ring, tell me, fella, does that count as an elimination?" --Sheamus, to Randy Orton, SmackDown 1/4/13

After all the controversy, I don't think Parker and Stone were intimidated. But Comedy Central sure was. This episode isn't even available to stream from South Park Studios and they're citing last-second censorship from Comedy Central as the reason.
