I wasn't as enamored with the film overall like the critics seemed to be, but the performances are very good. If Jennifer Lawrence gets an Oscar nomination, it'll be for this role, though I thought she was just as strong, if not stronger, carrying almost every single scene of The Hunger Games. But no way The Hunger Games gets any Oscar nominations for anything other than technical awards.

“@ZackRyder: @CMPunk She played me bro” I got your back.
I'm still thinking she still might get a nomination for Hunger Games.
I remember thinking that The Silence of the Lambs- released in February- would be forgotten by the time Oscar season came and we know how that turned out.

I give 'Silver' a gold! Starts off as a Rachel Getting Married/Young Adult/Big Fan-style dark to light-dark flawed person character study, then veers curiously but happily into a surprisingly very satisfying romedy-comedy? I thought the curiously contrived stakes-based climax kind of cheapened the great work that went into depicting and portraying these two troubled people, but ended up totally swept up in it. I'll allow it on the grounds that all lead characters in romantic comedies exhibiting romantic comedy behavior are pretty insane; Silver Linings Playbook just actually bothers to diagnose them up front. Completely terrified of J-Law in this movie, she's like
I'm not a fan. The performances, brilliant as they are, are wasted on a poor script. Worth seeing for Lawrence, Cooper and De Niro. They save it from being the horrible film t would otherwise be.
Here's my review (londonfilmfanatiq.com), which is probably too kind, but I greatly appreciate what the actors have done with it.
I just think it's great to see De Niro properly ACTING in a good movie for the first time in what, 15 years? Whenever it was he realized he could get paycheques just for "acting like Robert De Niro."
If you had a drinking game based around taking a shot whenever Jacki Weaver's character said her son's name in a worried tone, you would've been Scott Hall about an hour in.
