Hard to top the emotional gut punches of last week. Rick went completely cuckoo bananas. As Glenn found out the hard way when he tried to reason with a grieving widower in the throes of insane bloodlust, best to let the poor guy sort it all out on his own. Don't get in between Crazy Rick when he's hell bent on axing Walkers questions.
Oh, in the annals of gross things The Walking Dead has shown us, I gotta say, puddles of Lori blood, Lori bits and placenta stains on the floor has got to be way up there.
All in all, life at the prison this week was pretty mellow after losing three of their people and their leader losing his damn mind. The prisoners, Axel and Oscar, seem keen on integrating with the group and being helpful, like digging graves and pulling the gates open. The field trip of Daryl and Maggie getting formula for Baby Girl Grimes was uneventful. And man, does Daryl have a way with an infant.
I liked Carl rattling off the names of all the female characters their group has lost in three seasons. But...
C'mon, Carl. If you're gonna name your little sister anything, name her T-Dog. #TheWalkingDead @glenmazzara
Meanwhile, in Woodbury, man, Michonne needs to chill out and relax. I'm with Andrea on staying in Woodbury - I don't care what weird shit is going on in that town. As long as I'm drinking lemonade and have a ringside seat to Walker Lumberjack Fight Club, I'd stick around. It's still way, way better than trying to survive out in Walker World.
First rule of Walker Lumberjack Fight Club, YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT Walker Lumberjack Fight Club. #TheWalkingDead
I wish they played that music from Star Trek when Kirk and Spock fought on Vulcan during Walker Lumberjack Fight Club. Who knew Merle is the Brad Pitt of Woodbury? (Or is he the Edward Norton)?
I'll admit Michonne swiping her katana from the Governor's hands and sticking the pointy end next to his Adam's apple was pretty bad ass. But you know what? Good riddance to Michonne. She was a real party pooper.
It seems like every place keeps Walkers penned up for one reason or another. Hershel had a bunch rounded up in the barn. Woodbury has some penned up for Walker Fight Club and for whatever experiments are being done on them. Plus the Governor has his Walker Daughter (Penny?) hidden away so he can comb her hair once in a while.
The three graves was a little confusing. Presume one was dug each for Lori, Carol and T-Dog. They had access to T's remains. Did someone go back and get Lori's corpse for the grave?* And what about Carol? Didn't she disappear? What did they bury for Carol? Why even dig a grave if there's nothing to bury?
* Never mind, I rewatched it and realized Rick knifed that Walker's stomach open to retrieve Lori's remains that it ate. Disgusting! This show, man. Still, the questions remains why they dug graves and what they buried in those graves?
(edited by John Orquiola on 11.11.12 2123) @CMPunk “@ZackRyder: @CMPunk She played me bro” I got your back.
The question about the graves is a good one. Even for the people they have remains from, they certainly don't have enough to justify digging a standard man-sized grave. I think we have a continuity error. The Walker Fight Club is one of the things I hated the most in the comics. Society broke down, what, 3 years ago at most? Especially in Woodbury, where a thin veneer of civility is covering everything, where you have food and shelter and little girls playing catch with their dogs, this Roman empire barbarism seems really out of place, and I have trouble believing that the citizens of Woodbury are going to go in for it. People who have that much civilization going for them should be outraged by the fights - it'd be much more believable in a place like Rick's prison.
It's not a continuity error, it's a symbolic gesture. You dig someone a grave to remember them, not necessarily to bury their remains. Lori's undigested flesh, T-Dog's chewed-up carcass and the obviously-still-alive-somewhere Carol's scarf go in those holes.
Also, what better way to honor T-Dog than spending a day digging holes in the ground?
Last season, you see all the walkers in the barn and think wow, they're nuts.
Now you have Rick being a psychopath and walker fight club. Maybe Hershel and his family were actually right in believing there was still some sort of hope left because these creatures still look human.

We found it terrifying. We were mumbling aloud "please don't show us baby bodies/please don't show us baby zombies."

Once again, look at where he is and look where Merle is. Worlds apart. Daryl is clearly Vice-President of the Wandering Dead. Merle is a fight dog.
This episode gives us fathers on the verge of madness. Rick has yet to even touch his new daughter.
The phone ringing ... I hope Rick is not the only person to hear that. I hope that's not just in his mind. But what a nice reference to the end of the very first episode when Glenn called him in the tank.

Same here. It's a real testament to the dark nature of the show when dead baby zombies seems legitimately possible. And they have hinted at this before (with the child's car seat on the highway in the second season).
For me, the zombie-stuffed-on-Lori-guts is easily the most disturbing thing they've shown. Knowing that distended belly was full of a once pregnant and now deceased Lori... I mean JEEZ.

Merle has his dream job - killing walkers, killing a few people, fighting zombie UFC... all while getting some status among a large community for simply being himself. Daryl has scraped and fought to survive and seen a number of his friends die horribly brutal deaths. I think Merle would disagree on which of them made out better.
Michonne going all Kill Bill on the zombies (which apparently was the inspiration for that scene) was also pretty bad ass. I see a lot of potential for that character assuming they do not keep her acting like a mute, female version of Ghost Dog.

According to the interviews on The Talking Dead (a show that I find mighty cathartic after these last few episodes), the other end of that phone call will be revealed next week.

Sure. Daryl and Merle have different criteria, and Daryl has become his own man outside Merle's shadow. I can't wait til they reunite to see if Daryl can remain out of it.

Awww. I admit, I might be sick, but I was expecting kid walkers and hoping for at least one baby...erhmm crawler I guess?
Rick going on a rampage inside the prison was insane. And when he came to the place where Lori died, I first feared that indeed she was still around..
I disagree with the assessment that the walker fight club would not happen. I assume that the soldiers have the most say in the group. If they want to fight, the fights will happen. And well, the way humanity usually works, even regular people will enjoy it. There's a reason Wrestlemanias are held in huge stadiums
I know who is on the other end of the phone and yes, its going to get weird. The zombie fights made more sense in the comics, because when they meet the Governor, he was a twisted bastard thus the society was twisted around him. The way, they are doing it now is almost too serine for the fights. He is too nice of a guy and the society is way too middle class. You got the sense in the comics, that Woodbury was basically trailer trash that moved into nicer homes.
I also think Darryl is going to be the leader if Rick snaps out of it. And that is a big IF. I do hope they find Carol, I am pretty tired of my TV shows having their cast decimated.
The Wee Baby Sheamus.Twitter: @realjoecarfley its a bit more toned down there. A bit.

I was expecting the same, although wasn't it perhaps the intent of the writers for us to think we'd see one?
I haven't read the comics, but if memory serves, any time a major character on the show has actually died, they've shown them dying on the show. We never saw Merle die, so it seemed reasonable to believe he was still alive (as he was). We all thought it was possible that Sofia was alive, until she turned up in Hershel's Barn-o-Biters. Personally, I'll believe Lori and Carol are alive for the time being.
I'm always a sucker for a Pulp Fiction reference, so that was much appreciated. In fact, the jokes were a lot better than the episode itself. Loved: -Rallo as a bowling ball -The inside jokes with the Stewie knock-off doll and the Roger belt buckle.
