It's stuff like this that makes me happy I stopped reading spider-man after one more day. I love Spidey but the company just doesn't seem to get what makes the character great (hint: its because he is fun, not because we want him to be batman)

The most frustrating thing about this whole is that we just HAD a darker Spider-Man! BEFORE One More Day! And it sucked! Remember when he threatened one of Kingpin's henchmen by offering to stuff his insides full of webbing from the nostrils? Yeah, that wasn't fun to read. And that's not Spider-Man.
I'm sure "dark and emo" is exactly what Uncle Ben had in mind for the character. Good grief.

There have actually quite a number of good Spidey stories since OMD.

I think that's what most frustrating, IMHO. They've actually bounced back pretty nicely since OMD. The Ends of the Earth storyline turned out to be one of my favorite Spidey stories and gave the Sinister Six the kind of #respect that CM Punk could only dream of.
To turn Spidey into a dark character, especially since their last attempt was so recent, feels like they're taking the character a step backwards and undoing a lot of the progress the character has made.
On the other hand, the new costume (sans toe claw) is the kind of nice, incremental change that will ultimately become the new normal without much fuss. Although the interior eye ridges will probably be streamlined away at some point.

Poor Miles Morales.
I really like Miles in the Ultimate Universe. It's a really fresh take on things. But I have no interest on seeing Peter being replaced (again) in the 616 universe. Now I'm sure there's going to be a twist somewhere, and we haven't seen the last of Peter I don't think this is going to be received well.
speaking of Miles Morales, the cross-over ended with Peter back home, googling the name and looking all shocked. Maybe this will have something to do with it? :)
Thanks everybody for the reply. That's kind of what I thought. Thanks to your ammo, I was able to complain (in a calm and polite manner) to Amazon. I'll be getting my book late (as their supplier didn't have enough copies)
